the difference between 4 h auto and part-time is all in the transfer case. in auto it is unlocked and the drive shafts spin at different speeds and in 4 high part time its locked and the drive shaft spin at the same speed.

Sometimes, I accidentally push the selector from 4H Auto to Part Time with my knee, then drive around for a while without noticing. Is that bad for the transfer case?

Weird, I posted over a year ago exactly how the system works by monitoring the DTCM and the trans case clutches.....but it appears people don't care about actual technical data
