100% SAME! I'm 37 years old and have bowled with a one handed release my entire life. I've been in leagues since I was 6 years old. My average as a one handed bowler got up to over 200 in leagues by the time I was about 19 years old. I walked away from bowling around 2007 in my mid 20s and came back to the sport about a year ago. I figured I'd be able to get my average back up to a 200 (or at least close) and instead my average was all the way down in the 160s. I've always been a fairly low rev player that threw a fairly straight up shot. I usually stood right and threw the ball near the 2nd arrow and adjusted when needed. The most I'd ever get left is with my feet on board 20 and throwing the ball out between the 2nd and third arrow depending on conditions. I started to realize my ball just didn't have the power and revs to keep up with the better players in league. I was also dealing with thumb injuries since I returned to the sport. Poor fitment with the new balls I'd purchased getting back into the sport. Because of that I randomly joked around with my teammates saying "Maybe I should just give up and throw two handed?" I then started to practice throwing the ball two handed without my thumb. At first it felt really weird and I couldn't get my ball speed up. My ball speed two handed was about 40% slower than my regular one handed release. I've now been practicing throwing the ball two handed for a little over a month and now my ball hits the pocket incredibly hard! I never leave 10 pins anymore! When I threw my ball one handed I could hit the pocket perfectly and often times would leave a 10. After only 1 month of practicing not only do I enjoy throwing the ball 2H, but it just feels so much better! I can finally open up my angles and throw from the far left gutter and it's so exciting to see my ball snap back to the pocket. Something I was never able to achieve throwing the ball one handed. The only complaint I have is the fact that I didn't decide to do this 20+ years ago! I bowled 6 straight games a few nights ago and my lowest game of the night was a 191. My high was a 266. I've only been bowling this way for a month! I'm confident that I'll throw my first 300 game (as a two hander) within two years of bowling in league. At least that's the goal I've set for myself. 😎
Perfect definition of guys being dudes right there. All for friendly competition. Makes me excited my league is going on tonight and I'm ready for it. Two-handed and ready to go.
IMHO 2 handed style is kinda cheating they have far more advantages over a one handed bowler and 2 handers get a ton of lucky strikes like that one in the tenth that shoulda been a 4-6 a one handed bowler would have left the 4-6 but they got the luck factor from there 500+ rev rates
@@shorty808100 not really cheating, it just depends on the rev rate. But it could also be a down side. To much rev rate could lead to someone leaving the 9pin or the 8pin, or possibly leaving a split through the face. I use the two handed style in high school bowling and lots of people laugh at how funny it is, but I have pins flying across the lane. It is just up to a person on how they like to bowl.
Yeah... when we rarely lose in league, "oh better luck next time bud, that's just how they fall sometimes." Most of the time when we win in league, "tWo HaNDed iS cHEating." The old people in our league hate my team. They say we cheat with our delivery or that we take off too much oil with our revs, blah blah. 😂
There seem to be a lot of people in the comments that have no idea how two handed bowling actually works, the second hand is there as a substitute for your thumb and just like the thumb (on a proper release) is no longer on/in the ball at the time that you release. The extra speed and revs that two handed bowlers can generate is thanks to it being somewhat easier to efficiently transfer energy to the ball and maintain better contact with the ball during release which increases revs. This comes with the downsides of reduced stability, additional variables (due to the second hand), and a greater reliance on footwork to generate any power (as your throwing arm has a significantly reduced range of motion which drastically effects the amount of potential energy which can be stored in your backswing)
I'll be honest, Anthony Simonson on the vlogs give me a new perspective on him. I used to think he had the personality of a rutabaga but I was mistaken.
@@DarrenTang I agree, he's a stand up guy. He just hogs all of the tour titles lol. Good D Tang hopefully you get your break soon, the TJ 300 was hard to watch but we believe in you dude.
