I just bought a pair of these for $1199 on a Black Friday sale. I listened to some Christmas music when I first set them up. I played some Nat King Cole, Michael Buble, Johnny Mathis, and Josh Groban to name a few. OMG!....these things sound SOOO GOOD! Phenomenal sound!
No kidding! They definitely punch above their weight class, so to speak. :)
I ordered a pair a few days ago along with a 12-inch subwoofer from their new Reference Premier line after hearing Caleb Denison's remarks. I've always wanted to fill our living room with dense, detailed sound while keeping to a minimalist aesthetic. Great review! Cheers to pushing the listening experience forward! 🍻
How do you like them paired up to a sub? Do you feel it’s needed?
Just placed a order for the Nines and I’m sure they won’t disappoint. I’ve seen and heard many Klipsch speakers before and never been disappointed. So excited thanks for the awesome review.
Thank you! 😁🤘
Klipsch should make powered tower speakers.
@@AudioElectronicsChicago powered ones?
I’m pretty sure they make some lower end ones
I have them. They’re called the R-28PF and were discontinued because they had a million amplifier issues. I’m now getting the nines to replace them with a speaker stand.
So far so good with the R-28PF on my end, but I might switch over to these bad boys… Though an “Eleven” tower version as described in this video, same inputs and styling would be an absolute killer.
The best Speaker Line for anything Live Recording. My Classic Live Recording Music by Bill Whithers, Marvin Gaye and Phil Collins make you feel like you are right there in the front row.
I'm really enjoying The Fives in my home office and was considering the Heresy IV for the living room... now I'm rethinking this and may just go with the Nines. They will be used exclusively to play music... what do you think?
Honestly, I still have my Nines in our open concept living room, and they fill the room nicely! I was just listening to Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend this morning when he spoke with band members from Nirvana talking about the 30th anniversary of In Utero. So of course when the episode ended I cranked up that album through The Nines. Sounded great! 😁🎉
I had a chance to see the NINES at Audio Advice Live last year (they weren't connected). They are massive. :) Love your review of these. The Fives have been my favorite bluetooth speaker to date. The Nines appear to have taken the best from the Fives and made it even better.
I know, right?! Upscaling The Fives did not disappoint at all! 🤘
Ive been looking for some speakers for our home gym. My wife loves loud music while working out. I have a google nest max and had a soundbar, but i think i found the solution! Been waiting for your review on these, thanks Ealan!
Sweet! These would def be the perfect speakers to blast your workout tunes!
Elan I really enjoyed the review here. I’ve had Kef, and Cambridge Audio for years but unless you do Home Theater, HDMI is a problem unless you don’t car to watch TV. News Flash, everybody does watch TV/Movies so I got rid of my gear and switched to 2 channel. I bought a somewhat rare Integra 2 channel Amp 100 watts. It can drive anything. To get the sound they have created over there you’ll have to spend 3000 or more. At 1800 it seems a lot….but nothing else to buy!
I basically use the hdmi input as air play/chromecast since my tv has Spotify/airplay/chromecast. Love my fives but wish they were slightly more reliable, I have occasionally have connections/turning on with the hdmi/earc
I absolutely love The Fives I've had for the past two years, but I am thinking of upgrading to the Sevens. I measured it out and the Nines are just too huge for my small room. The Sevens should be a perfect fit and give me a bigger soundstage. Klipsch engineers have really accomplished something with this powered Heritage line. I think they provide a lot for the money and with no extra components. Tastes in speakers vary but I really dig the warm and accurate sound the Fives produce. I have never enjoyed TV, vinyl and music more. I'm thinking The Sevens will be just more of a good thing!
Awesome! Sounds like The Sevens would be a perfect fit! 🤘
I watched and read a lot of reviews comparing the 2. The sevens don't match up to the nines. Do take your time to make the right choice. Cheers
When the pandemic hit my wife and i built a home gym and running the music is a google home max. It sounds good but its time for the nines! Any sub you recommend?
On a budget, Monoprice Monolith subs are top notch. Also, Starke Sound has some killer sealed subs (since I recommend sealed subs for music purposes). And lastly some SVS sealed subs if it’s in your budget, but they are a bit more expensive than the previous brands. 🤘
Ill check out those cheaper ones. Since its for the gym i dont need anything crazy. Thank you!
So you can't play Flac files direct from a laptop?
The 11s would be a 10" woofer (Ala rf series) and a 1 1/4 tweet. Easy to keep scaling up. But they won't because of sheer size. And don't want to step on other lines toes
I have the Sevens and absolutely love them. Had the Fives and they jammed but the Sevens literally take it up another level.
Glad I got the Sevens because I was tempted to throw another $300 bucks for the Nines but they are just to damn big!
Correct me if I’m wrong though this line of speakers (5s, 7s, & 9s) are not factually a part of the Heritage line. They are Heritage “Inspired”. They aren’t hand crafted at the Hope, Arkansas facility.
I wish they were but they would probably up-charge just for that. I would without a doubt take that extra cost on just for the simple fact of knowing they are %100 made in the USA.
No, you’re right. I should’ve made that distinction with the REAL Heritage line.
@@ealanosborne all good bro.
I want to own a pair of the Heritage line, preferably the Forte’s. Perhaps La Scala’s if I have a dedicated listening room.
I’m holding out till my 50th birthday as it will be the company’s 100th anniversary so I know they will do something spectacular no doubt but perhaps more excitingly truly re-defining!
Till then the Sevens will carry me happily!
How do I use them best with Apple Music/Lossless? Apple TV/HDMI?
Correct. If your AppleTV is connected to your TV via HDMI, then the Nines connected via HDMI to the TV’s ARC port, you’re golden. 🤘
@@ealanosborne thx! And using the system without tv? would be better to go for wiim mini or something else instead of Apple TV?
I have a set arriving the next 2 days, I'm pretty anxious to give them a run. Having owned about all the other Klipsch speakers of the the past, these seem to be a jack of all trades and the classic models with lambswool/linen grilles look really really good, hope they do well, I'll have them in a 13x14 foot room and it's a very solid great sounding room tonally. Hope they don't disappoint, well see in a couple of days. Thanks for the video.
Curious 2 hear ur thoughts on them once u try them. I have the fives hooked up yo my 77 inch c2 oled with a speedwoofer 10S mkii and they sound great. I'm considering switching to the nines for a bit of xtra boost!😮😮😮
@@puddleduckist I'll report back as soon as I put some hours on them, they'll be in today, says early delivery.
@@JukeboxAlleyHave you been using your nines? Any thoughts?? Thanks!!!
Thanks, Ealan! great stuff as usual! How would the Nines pair with the Integra avr you recently reviewed?
They wouldn’t, since The Nines are powered speakers with their own internal amps. They are essentially their own speakers + AVR wrapped into one, since they can connect directly to a TV. The Integra would power passive speakers.
@@ealanosborne Which makes their price much more reasonable since you don't need an amp and most amps will set you back at least 1/3 of the asking price of the Nines.
So... What does it mean it doesn't support flac, I've got a portable player with all flac files, does that mean If I connect by Bluetooth to the speakers, it won't work?
The Nines and the rest of the line don't have any streaming built in. They just have digital inputs and Bluetooth. The DAC in the nines supports up to 24bit 192khz PCM audio. So if you plug in your computer via USB or HDMI it will be decoding the FLAC to stereo PCM and sending it to the DAC in the speakers. Works fine. Some DACs can decode DSD or MQA but 'The Nines' only support PCM. Also there are plugins for playback software that will convert DSD to PCM so you could conceivably listen to DSD files through your speakers played from a PC.
I wonder if I should choose the Sevens or the Nines for my living room 20 m² (4m x 5m) ?
It’s up to you, but I’d still probably get The Nines 🤷♂️
Similar dilemma. I need a pair of klipsch speakers for my bedroom. (Size 12ft x 18ft) I'm kinda scared if the Nines would be overkill. I'm pulling my hair out trying to decide between the Fives,Sixes and Nines. Also, I understand that the Nines aren't technologically lightyears ahead of the Fives or Sixes, but my intuition tells me that the newer speaker might have all the old connectivity issues ironed out. Any suggestions ????
Just got a pair of "The Nines" and an SVS PB-2000 Pro to give that low end the punch I wanted. I could not be happier with the results and my goodness they get loud.
Duuuude! That’s an excellent combo! 🎉
@@ealanosborne Thanks brotherman. I absolutely love them. Lol my neighbor isn't the biggest fan, but I'm about to buy a house soon anyways, so oh well. We appreciate you posting videos so people can get an idea for what they're about to buy.
Personally I’ve got a pair of these on order, and can hardly wait, just a beautiful speaker. How did they sound so close to the wall with out that 12 to 18” distance?
The angle of the shot made it look like they were close, but in fact they were about 12” from the adjacent wall. They sounded spectacular! 🤘
I have a pair...which have bricked themselves twice in two months, each time taking ten days to repair. Excellent when they work.
The sub high passes the nines freeing then up to more accurately play 60hz and above. So your not adding a sub necessarily for more bass as much as you do for more accurate presentation
Hello Ealan, excellent video. I know very little about the subject, however I would like to have a 5.1.2 home theater, with dolby atmos, but I only have a budget of 1000 dollars, what speakers do you recommend?
Hmmm…curious if you want a soundbar for a one-and-done solution? Or do you plan on slowly upgrading over time from this point on with a traditional wired speakers + receiver system?
@@ealanosborne with a traditional wired speakers + receiver system.
@@lrojasfl Klipsch or Jamo speakers are still the way to go for a 5.1.2 budget friendly speaker system. The Klipsch 5.1.4 Cinema System is a decent starter system, along with the Sony STR-DH790 7 channel AVR to power the Klipsch speakers. True, you won’t be able to utilize all 4 of the upward firing speakers in the Cinema system (since you would need a 9 channel AVR to do so), but you’ll still get good sound with those speakers and the Sony AVR. That or the Denon S760H AVR. 🎉
@@ealanosborne Thank you so much.
Great job and with your experience with this name, do you think it would sound much better than my AMBEO?
Nah, the AMBEO is pretty cool.
@@ealanosborne thanks and hopefully you could get that Kilpsch subwoofers in that just came out for a review.
So I have a 5.1 Jamos concert series setup, wondering if I should replace my setup in favor of these? Which means it will be 2.1
The concert series Jamo speakers are nice! And especially since you have a 5.1 setup, I’d stick with that. The Nines are excellent, but surround sound is surround sound, you know? 😄🎉
@@ealanosborne Exactly, tried them out again vs the Jamos in 5.1 and no comparison the 5.1 rules. You can clearly tell there is zero center channel in dialog over stereo. For movies, for sure 5.1
Klipsch or a third party need to offer some optional grill colors. Burnt Orange, please?
That would be cool! Yeah someone like a DBRAND equivalent need to offer speaker customizations like that. 🤘
Damn, I had to sing "How Do They Sound 🎶" myself....
The Nines or KEF LS50 Wireless II?
I mean if you can afford the KEFs, might as well go with them 🤷♂️
@@ealanosborneCan you tell me why please? I am probably getting the Speedwoofer 12s for the sub.
@@Edmond1812 KEF is usually more expensive than Klipsch because of the higher quality internal components, the more elegant style with rounded edges, and concentric speaker design (with the woofer and tweeter together). So if you don't care for those things, The Nines are still really good. But even I would get KEF speakers if I could afford them
why is it recommended to the speakers 12 to 18 inch away from the wall anyone care to explain ?
That rear bass port pushes air out, so if it’s too close to a wall, it can minimize the effectiveness of the bass response. 🤘
"Mentioning "What will Klipsch do next, make some powered towers? Then suggest how they might be built. I could see them how I would like them in my head! Man, Elan, that would be so awesome! I think it should be done. I hope they see this and do it! Nobody can compete with your mystical voice delivery to bring suspense and allure to audio like you.
Awww, thank you for the incredibly kind words! ♥️🙌
I have 110hz speakers and my avr only has 100hz or 120hz selections is it ok to set avr to 100hz for my 110hz speakers or is it best to keep them at 120hz? Any help would be appreciated thank you....
Yeah, rule of thumb is to set the crossover 10-20 Hz above the lowest frequency they can handle. So I’d stick with 120 Hz. 👍
@@ealanosborne awesome thanks for the reply 👍 😀
Great speakers for the $$$
hi. I'm so confused. I want to hear good quality sound. I listen to music a lot. I watch relatively less movies. I watch more UA-cam. One of the reasons I want the jbl bar 1300 is that it can be used externally as a Bluetooth speaker. I'm so confused so should I buy Klipsch the nines or JBL bar 1300?
Well it’s up to you, really. The Bar 1300 has surround speakers, and can properly decode Atmos and DTS:X, those times you DO watch TV and movies will be more immersive. That and it comes with a subwoofer, and The Nines do not. 🤷♂️ But the musicality of The Nines is great.
What did you decide on?
@@thomash9665 the nines
Why are they not a brassy color?
Must be because they’re an homage to the Heritage line
9:30 min of pure meditation 🧘♂️
Don’t expect “The Elevens” …. Klipsch showed off “The Fifteens” at CES 2017, so they already have a bigger solution in mind.
Great review
No one needs a subwoofer with an 8" woofer
I have the sixes, if you want the feeling that the nearly inaudible frequency comes with you will need a sub, that said the audible frequencies come through fine
When reviewers say things like "high and low frequency separation" concerning bi amplification....
I have a simple question...should i upgrade my fives to nines ? Or should i just add woofer to my current set up and be happy ? ( hush hush ...i have a shoe string budget)
Yeah, probably just add a subwoofer to The Fives. The Nines are great, don’t get me wrong, but The Fives are still awesome for their size and price. 🎉
Very nice
You honestly don't need a sub for any music that has bass notes whether is electric or acoustic like with Jazz/Latin or Hip Hop music.
I will start to save some money in order to buy the NINES… by the time I have enough cash 💰 Klipsch will release the ELEVENS 😊
😂😂
So $1499
Here's food for thought
For that money you can get the Fives ($459) + a Subwoofer. (The Klipsch SPL120 12 inch is $449)
And Im pretty sure you can get a cheaper sub than that one that will make you happy.
Are you trying to make love to my ears with your voice? 😂
…maybe. 🤔😂
The 11s would be like 3500 a pair lol
msrp USD $1499, CAD $2599, 😂😂
Your married 😑 Damn
Sorryyyyyyy 😄
Why you talking like that bruh
I’m Batman…
@@ealanosborne well at least you have a sense of humor about it lol
why do you talk like Batman?
Because…I’m Batman? 🦇
@@ealanosborne the only correct answer :D
Yeah but the sevens sound better then the nines
Not at all.
