Thank you Ealan for your great review and taking the time to explain all the connections and features in a layman's terms.
This video is BY FAR the best informational tutorial about the speakers and setup 👌......I have an old t.v. that I need to upgrade, I found out... lol
Just grabbed a pair of these to play my baby grand piano with music, can't wait to try them out!
Ealan, I've just recently found your channel after making a decision to get serious about audio and I have to say as a novice to all this you have taught me so much. Thank you for your knowledgeable, and well produced content. I still have a lot to learn but I'm enjoying the journey 😊
What he said!
Awwww thanks 😊
Love the review nice ending
Seeing as I live in a bungalow which doesn't have room for a set of Klipschorns, yep The Fives with my own attached subwoofer are on my wish list. Thanks for this well-made video which added to the increasingly persistent itch to get a pair. Just hope the wife and the neighbors are also ready. ;-)
Nice review, Ealan! I do have this on my wish list....for labor day :)
Great review and product details. Will be buying an pair soon for Christmas. Amazing product!
Thank you for the kind words! 😁🤘
I’m the world of home audio, versatility and simplicity are king and the fives have both. Those in the market for a Soundbar should definitely put the fives on their short list. You can get a pair used for less than $600 and they sound so much better than most Soundbars in that price range. Great review Elan!
Fun review!
I love your vids! Hilarious and informative!
Hey, thanks Paul! Your kind words honestly mean so much in this world of Internet trolls running rampant. 😊🤘
Nice intro!! Cool brad Pitt ref
Now Klipsch connect app allows you to set the EQ in the app. You have to do a firmware update through a USB first, then update the Connect app. It’s a little cumbersome but nothing monumental.
Great..now I'm ganna have that intro stuck in my head all day lol..dude awesome video and very cool versatile product. Well reviewed and explained. Peace and...Theeee Fiiiive...ahh dammit.
Agree enrtry level starts with the 5's. I got em at amazon 500.00.
Great review, Costco currently has the black Fives on sale for $499 with free shipping and I can't wait to get them.. They also have a wireless 12" sub as well for $250 so you can get a real nice setup for $750.
Hell yeah! Much better than most 2.1 or 3.1 soundbars out there. 🤘
I purchased R28PF, and I regret those over the Fives. The HDMI is a game changer for home theater.
Very entertaining review
Thank you!!! 🙌
Thumbs up for the intro alone haha 😂
Took way too long to create…but WORTH IT! 🤣🤘
For people that can't put their cables on a dark surface in the sun on a hot sunny day, I have a hack for the Klipsch cables (not the HDMI). I live in Minnesota and was installing my speakers, only to find out that Klipsch has these all bundled up and full of ugly/ridiculous bends that don't straiten out. Grab a cookie tray and line it with parchment paper, turn your oven on to 175 degrees, and put one cable at a time for 1:30 except for the speaker cable which requires about 3 minutes. Pull them out and have something or someone to hold the other end. With oven mitts on (one necessary if you're not sensitive). Run your mitt hand forward several times as to work it even straiter. Lay it on the floor lengthwise and let cool. Doing all the cables only took ten minutes or so. After spending an eternity with a heat gun doing the first half of the kinks in the speaker cable, I decided to try it. Works great and we just flipped the parchment paper over and are baking fish on the same piece right now! No stink, no melting, didn't even take the label tags off! Try it, you'll be glad you did. Easier than it was to write this, and you retain Audio-file status with your people. Shame on Klipsch for not at least coiling these like they did the HDMI cable at the very least, but for the money, not using higher end materials to avoid this altogether.
Audio pro A28 - A26, Magnat Monitor Reference 2a, 3a, 5a, Magnat transpuls 800a, Dali Oberon 1c with Hub, Mission LX Connect, kef lsx ii , HECO Aurora 200 P
Ealan, great review as always. Of these two, which would you go for? The Klipsch Reference theater pack or 3 pairs of Sony sscs5 (one used a center, leaving an extra) @$73 per pair and 2 Monoprice 12 inch subs @$84 a piece for a total of $400 roughly. The Klipsch is about $300 on NewEgg right now.
I have the same name, different spelling: "Elan" - "Ealan." Fun. Are there simply not a lot of audiophiles out there? Because this channel is at 500K+ subs quality. Amazing editing both audio and visually, informative, and entertaining. Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks for the kind words, fellow Elan of the world. 😄 Yeah, I made a decision from day 1 that I wanted to stand out from the crowd with full on productions, not just talking at the camera. Obviously more subs is the goal, but yeah…I guess audio isn’t as universal as cameras or tech, but it’s what I know and am passionate about. So that helps drive me to keep making them. 😀🤘
Teufel Ultima 40 Active. Bi-amp three way speakers for a similar price. But I suppose the brand isn’t really known in the US.
I have the fives with a sub and I love them. Great review.
I own a pair of fives and have found the sound to be very bassy, so much so i wanted to be able to shape the sound but found I cant. I cant imagine a sub with these speakers. they already rock my room and i have a big room 25x40. Do you find the fives bassy, just wondering if my expectations are out of lline with the reality of what these speakers can do. Very clear just very big base.
@@robtsteiner a sub let's you control the bass more with the controls on the remote. I agree it has too much bass on its own.
Which sub did you go with? Did you have to set a low pass crossover or did you just set to LFE and The Fives sort that out?
@@davidbowyer6840 I have the Klipsch R-100SW 10" Subwoofer. The remote and now the app will let you turn down the bass.
subscribed.
Hey quick question, how are you keeping your fives attached to the stands? Am I correct that there are no screw ports? Thanks for the review.
Wish the Five had a HDMI passthrough so can add them to your existing soundbar. 😞
Trying to decide on a 2:1 TV set up for movies and every day TV narrowed it down to THE FIVES or EDIFIER s3000Pro’s What are your thoughts or anyone else’s ? Open to suggestions. Thx. Cheers from CANADA
Audio Pro A26 might be of interest? HDMI - BT - SUB - Wi-Fi - Toslink etc etc .... 4-500, instead of a 1000 dollars.
genial
GREAT VIDEO!! I have the Three and love them in Multiple small rooms. Would the Fives be a good unit for a small one room ranch house just for Music?? Are they linkable via the Google home "pucks"?
Thanks! Although it doesn’t look likeThe Fives don’t support Google Assistant. The One supports it, though. 🤷♂️
I just bought a pair of them last week and realised that the HDMI input is HDMI ARC only. That means I can't connect my old chromecast HD and stream spotify through the HDMI port. You can only connect it to a HDMI ARC port on a TV.
I guess you can connect the Chromecast HD directly to the TV and the play music through The Fives via ARC. 🤷♂️
Is there an extension cable to add to the one that connects both speakers? If not then th with of the sound stage is limited to the one that came with it. I have been thinking of using some active speakers in my home theater to replace some of the passive speakers. And these seem like a possible option for it.
Ha…true, the width is limited to the length of the audio cable. But the cable itself is just over 13 feet long, so still much wider than any soundbar.
But I’m sure there are 4-pin audio extension cables out there if that’s still not wide enough
Happy to report the new firmware update added all types of EQ presets and adjustments
Woohoo!
It was a pain in the butt to install though lol.
@@Sircinus3005 for real lol it was so annoying
I am planning to purchase the klipsc fives, however I keep hearing they may not be as bright sounding as I would like. I hope they have natural highs though.
If it’s not to your liking out of the box, they are compatible with the Klipsch Connect app, which allows you to adjust the EQ a little. 👍
Should I set my ps5 and series x to stereo/pcm or can I set it to Dolby (atmos) and let the soundbar and tv do the decoding?
Yeah, I would set everything to PCM just to make sure the correct audio information is being sent. I’d only tell PS5 or Series X to send Atmos if I had an Atmos system waiting on the other end. 👍
Svs wirless pro has hdmi as well
Correct! But at the time I reviewed these, the Prime Wireless Pro didn’t exist yet! 😄
I have a question. I have an 11channel AVR that can amplify 9 channels at once. I want to use all 11 channels using a 7.2.4 setup. that means two channels will need amplification. I want to use powered bookshelves like the fives for side surrounds rather than buying another amplifier. Since the 2nd speaker gets power and signal from the main speaker, if I use two RCAs cables from pre outs of the AVR, to the phono ins of the fives. will it be able to passthrough the signal of Surround L to left speaker and Surround R to right speaker or it will just split one signal into two?
I’m not 100% certain, but yeah - I don’t think you’ll be able to pull off using The Fives as discrete speakers within a home theater system. The Fives are just meant to play nice with each other, but that’s about it.
hi !
i just plug my sono on the fives but ... i have only one speaker working !!! unless i switch for left. i will have also only one speaker working.
how can i have both ? and obtain a stereo sound from my record!
My first instinct would be to double check the connection of the 4-pin speaker wire that connects the 2 speakers together (the thick black cable that comes in the box). 🤷♂️
Should the Dynamic EQ be disabled when using a sub woofer?
Eh, I probably wouldn’t enable it with a sub, since its primary purpose is to boost bass levels at lower volumes. So it might drown out the music if you’re using a sub.
For TV SPEAKERS : THE FIVES or SVS wireless pros or EDIFIER s3000Pro’s. which are the way to go for sound with movies / sports / and everyday TV. OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS. THX
On paper, the SVS Prime Wireless Pro System has it all - Wi-Fi support, DTS Play-Fi support, HDMI, ethernet, subwoofer out, etc. 🤘
@@ealanosborne thx for response now to see which of the three go on sale....cheers
Ealan do you need a center channel speaker with these speakers and subwoofer?
These don’t support a center channel, honestly. They’re meant to be a stereo pair with the option of a subwoofer if you want. A 2.1 system, in other words. 👍
@@ealanosborne or a 4.1 system these in the back and the sevens in the front😊🤘🤙
Thanks for the video.
Does anyone have a problem using the connect app?
I did update the Fives using the updater. Confirmed it was ok.
I open Connect, and the app finds the Fives. I press ok. It says searching, connecting and connected.
After that I get an error message: "Whoops! It looks like we cannot communicate" etc.
I tried powering the speakers off/on, removed/adding the speakers on my iPhone.
Latest IOS, latest version of the app.
So I have a big kitchen and want good sound, can I put these up high on top of my cabinets and play Spotify on them and blow my guests away while I make them dinner or crank some tunes all off my phone?
Most definitely! 🤘
Which is better, The Fives with a subwoofer or the Klipsch Cinema 800? Thanks in advance🙏🙏🙏
Is say The Fives, since you can connect so many things to it, if needs be. 👍
@@ealanosborne which subwoofer do you recommend? Thanks in advance
@@junflores7143 I’d stick with Klipsch for good timbre matching. Yes, they’re more expensive, but the SPL series is superior to the Reference subs. Like the SPL-100 is a good 10” sub for $399 if that’s in your budget. 🤷♂️
@@ealanosborne thanks so much🙏🙏🙏
@@ealanosborne I’ve been watching this video for several times now, lol
I hope I'm not wrong, but I'm about to return the Klipsch 5.1.4 theater system we haven't even opened yet to buy these and the Klipsch 12 self powered sub from Costco. Please correct me within the next hour if I'm wrong. 1.5 hours if my wife slows me down.
Here are the two things to take into account - 1) do you want The Fives to be your one home theater solution before deciding to move on and get a full surround sound system? Or 2) do you want a good baseline system to then build upon and more easily upgrade over time? If 1, get The Fives. If 2, keep the 5.1.4 system. 🤘
@@ealanosborne you rock!
Was standing in front of everything right when I read your comment! Answer was #1.
Can the Fives do Dolby Atmos?? NO, if so, the Fives still cannot replace a sound bar, right
This or samsung q950a???? Costco has them for $499 right now????
Well, shoot…if you can afford a Q950a, go with that, for sure! But if you wanna stick to a budget until you can afford something like the Q950a, you can’t go wrong with how versatile The Fives are for only $499!
@@ealanosborne I heard u don't really need a dolby signal with the fives and pcm sounds great
@@COVIDisA_HOAX True, PCM does sound great on The Fives! But the Q950a is literally Samsung’s flagship sound bar, so you’re dealing with an insane amount of immersion, including upward-firing speakers, a subwoofer, and great signal processing. So they’re in two different worlds, honestly.
Great video.
Have you listened to the RP-600M bookshelves? If so, are these comparable or better sound quality?
“The Fives” as part of the giveaway extravaganza? 🤞🏼
I haven't listened to the RP-600Ms, but usually anything in the RP line of Klipsch speakers is going to sound better than anything without the "RP" stamp on it. But the 600Ms are straight passive speakers, so yes...sound quality alone they will be better.
But The Fives are meant to be a versatile juggernaut, being able to connect so many different components to it with ease. So sound quality alone wasn't their intention with these speakers.
@@ealanosborne I think you have to dsp correct the rp600m. Fives are dsp'ed internally
ua-cam.com/video/a2s8lPa_YEU/v-deo.html
u can watch the comparison review of both speaker ( the fives n RP-600M) as above link.
Think I'll stick with my 4 leak sandwich 600s
160 db??? Seriously ! You mean 160 watts.
Yep. The text on screen was correct, just misspoke in the voiceover, so I thought it would be redundant to put an asterisk with the correct info twice. Oh well! 🤘
