Marc Bolan, was amazing! I didn't realize he died until tonight, 12/15/23. Sorry. I, have been out of touch with that fact. Because every chance I get I always play his music! He was and still is a great, musician! I also saw him perform with Trex in person at, Wildwood, New Jersey 08260, convention Hall in, 1971. He and Trex were amazing then and still are! Happy listening! I am sorry to hear about his death. I thought he was still alive! God bless him! A great, musician, singer, and artist he was and is!
He stated in an interview that he never thought he would live past 30. He also stated that he never drove because he was terrified of driving and dying in an automobile accident. He knew his time on this earth was short. I’m sure it is painful for his family to this day and for his son that he never got to see grow up.

The Idol of my youth , I remember the large poster of Marc above my bed and the many magic moments he has always given thru his music and style to me and at least his spirit inspired me to become a guitarplayer ..... hope I will have the chance to visit memory places of him in London .....
He wasn't killed by the tree, it was a fence post - he was fatally injured by an eye bolt. The car happened to come to rest up against the tree. You only have to see the damage done to the car and the size of the tree (plus it would have been smaller in the 70's) to realise the tree is innocent. Anyhoo, if you haven't been to the site, go, they have done a lovely job of creating a little garden of peace to a wonderful and much missed artist.

I lived about 2 miles from this tree- it is on a narrow stretch of road, and it is just a coincidence that it was that tree and not the one next to it..tragically, he was an innocent passenger in a car...buses regularly travel down rocks lane, and the branches rattle the bus windows- the loss of Marc was a real shock, and his fans have kept the tree as a memorial..very strange, as like you, I don't like that spot.

First of all, nobody used seat belts in those days and secondly, had he been wearing one it would have made no difference. He was instantly killed by a blow to the head from an eye bolt of the concrete barrier, a seat belt would not have prevented that.

The car didn't hit the tree, it hit the crash barrier. The tree which had very little damage, actually prevented the car from rolling down the bank. I took a look at the tree in the middle eighties and it had very little damage, the damage was in fact high up on the trunk. The tree is also quite small and would have been extensively damaged if a car had hit it at that speed. It always stuck in my mind how a car could be so badly damaged by a tree with so little damage. So many people have visited the crash site over the years and never question this fact, I find this very strange indeed.
The tee is a quarter of the way down that bank too.and not very thick.if it hadn't have been there the car would have probably rolled down into the house below.the poor tree looks dead nowadays but little gifts and photos still decorate it and his 2 headstones til this day.its sad as his house was only 10 mins up the road from there

The Ride a White Swan bio that came out in 2012 revealed that it was not the tree but a protective rail or fence that actually killed him. It was removed shortly after which is why you don’t see pictures of it and people assume it’s the tree that did the damage. Nonetheless I admit, the Margrite painting with the exact date Of the accident is pretty weird As is the detail that he became obsessed for a day with the paining the last time he was in France and saw it.
I was with Marc , Gloria Tony & Nancy Howard in J Arthur’s club in New Kings Road. the night before he died. He was in good spirits . I won’t say anymore but it was not surprising his car crashed

Both his wife (at the funeral) and woman, Vicky Aram, that found him just after the crash said that Marc only had a small head scar. The strange coincidence for me is that Vicky Aram also had a car crash **on the way to the Marc Bolan crash inquest** which prevented her testimony. Gloria was prevented from testifying due to fear of being prosecuted. So the surviving crash witnesses, or at least two of the three, were unable to testify. The other survivor, Richard Jones, did not think that Bolan was dead when they took him out of the car and put him on a rug. I guess that Richard Jones is Gloria's brother Richard Jones, so that means all three of the crash survivors would not have been at the inquest, assuming that Richard escorted his sister back to the US. If anyone had had the technology to cause car crashes, perhaps by remote control steering malfunction, might have used it twice if they had not wanted it be known that Marc's injury did not look fatal. She was writing (on her blog and in a book) about her impression at the time, many years later, not talking to the family. Do you think that she lied to protect family and friends? If someone had had the technology to cause car accidents they might have used it twice. +Jack Spratt it hit the bolt, and momentum continued to propel the vehicle forward. The tree actually stopped the car and kept it from going over the side. Also, a police inspector found that the lug nuts on the car were loose. This info is out there you just have to do the research to separate myth from fact. :)

That's really strange man, I am currently putting together a gone too soon playlist and I literally googled a load of these amazing artists, the weird thing is I never heard of eddie cochran before, and in my list I just happened to have eddie cochran and Marc bolan on, one after the other.

I've been clicking on a few of these stories about him and what I find weird is that it was her brother who found the wreckage...I mean it was 4 am so was he out with them??how did he know they'd go down that road?there were no mobile phones back then.it was a concrete post they hit not the actual tree and also,when his brother harry and mother went to the hospital they stopped off at the house first.nothing had been taken then but after they'd left the place had been cleared out yet there was no break in...whoever took everything had a key.so what happened to his stuff??who had the key??was her brother staying with them at the time and following them home or something??
Gloria brother was out with them that night and there was a lady called Victoria in the car with Richard. They found the car over the hump.it was crashed into a reinforced concrete post and an eye bolt caused marks fatal head injury which killed him instantly.the tree actually stopped the car from slipping down the bank.there are houses below the bank,so without that tree,things could been even worse than they were.the tyre pressure and the tyres bolts weren't right either.glorias brother and friend stopped and got them both out of the wreck and Victoria said mark was already dead but gloria was unconcious yet groaning.she suffered a broken jaw and arm and a passing fireman alerted emergency services.

The car didn't hit the tree, it hit the crash barrier. The tree which had very little damage, actually prevented the car from rolling down the bank. I took a look at the tree in the middle eighties and it had very little damage, the damage was in fact high up on the trunk. The tree is also quite small and would have been extensively damaged if a car had hit it at that speed. It always stuck in my mind how a car could be so badly damaged by a tree with so little damage. So many people have visited the crash site over the years and never question this fact, I find this very strange indeed.
The tee is a quarter of the way down that bank too.and not very thick.if it hadn't have been there the car would have probably rolled down into the house below.the poor tree looks dead nowadays but little gifts and photos still decorate it and his 2 headstones til this day.its sad as his house was only 10 mins up the road from there
Weird that Marc Bolan had Eddie Cochrane as an idol. Eddie was killed by a cab slamming into a metal pole in a cab and Marc hit a tree in a car.

that came out in 2012 revealed that it was not the tree but a protective rail or fence that actually killed him. It was removed shortly after which is why you don’t see pictures of it and people assume it’s the tree that did the damage. Nonetheless I admit, the Margrite painting with the exact date Of the accident is pretty weird As is the detail that he became obsessed for a day with the paining the last time he was in France and saw it.

Marc Bolan is rock n roll, you can't talk about the history of rock n roll without giving a mention of all the great rock n roll songs Marc Bolan & T Rex made :) The American Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is just that, with a very tiny tribute to some overseas acts :) its the American Rock n roll Hall of fame and a few of those bands like the Beatles and Stones and Led Zeppelin so they don't look entirely like a organization run by musically nieve wankers :)

A lot of irony in Bolan's death. For example, he never learned to drive because he felt he would die in a car accident. The irony is that if he had driven, he would probably be alive today. And no...trees are not evil. Trees don't plan to kill people. And the license plate had "FOX" in it, so of course it MUST be related to a song he wrote about picking foxes from the trees. First off, Marc's lyrics were mostly nonsense anyhow. I'm sure I could peruse through his lyrics and find some deep, secret messages.

Both his wife (at the funeral) and woman, Vicky Aram, that found him just after the crash said that Marc only had a small head scar.
The strange coincidence for me is that Vicky Aram also had a car crash **on the way to the Marc Bolan crash inquest** which prevented her testimony.
Gloria was prevented from testifying due to fear of being prosecuted.
So the surviving crash witnesses, or at least two of the three, were unable to testify.
The other survivor, Richard Jones, did not think that Bolan was dead when they took him out of the car and put him on a rug. I guess that Richard Jones is Gloria's brother Richard Jones, so that means all three of the crash survivors would not have been at the inquest, assuming that Richard escorted his sister back to the US.
If anyone had had the technology to cause car crashes, perhaps by remote control steering malfunction, might have used it twice if they had not wanted it be known that Marc's injury did not look fatal.
Crashes can be caused, but I guess it is difficult to make sure that people die in them, unless you go and shoot them in the head immediately afterwards.

@Lesley Wynter Vicky Aram was at the scene of the crash immediately after it happened. Why would she lie? She was writing (on her blog and in a book) about her impression at the time, many years later, not talking to the family. Do you think that she lied to protect family and friends?
By the way, Vicky Aram was prevented from attending, and testifying at the coroner's inquest since she suffered a car accident on the way there, a week after Bolan's crash.
If someone had had the technology to cause car accidents they might have used it twice.
Googling "car accident" "assignation" lead me to a group who killed people by that method in the early 1980s, working out of East Berlin.

+Jack Spratt it hit the bolt, and momentum continued to propel the vehicle forward. The tree actually stopped the car and kept it from going over the side. Also, a police inspector found that the lug nuts on the car were loose.
