"Man, are you hungry? I haven't eaten since later this afternoon." Most underrated line ever.
Temporal speak
What precisely is that line "rated" at present?
Someone haven't write guide for Tenses for time travel already?
@@Corn_Pone_Flicks about 7.
I highly recommend this one.
It is a smooth, easily digestible movie to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon when you just need to relax and switch your brain off for 75 minutes or so.
lol
ahaha nice one
hahahah
x doubt
Lol this is the comment I didnt know I needed. Thx ;)
What a phantastic idea. Every filmmaker should walk in shame and agony, when he realizes, what you can do with 7000$ and a damn good script.
The issue is you couldn't buy that script with 7000$.
@@Sam-kz6cu Have you seen this movie? It's very good. You have to watch it a few times to actually understand what's going on. It's rather complex
@@77Avadon77 He means that with a story this good, no one would sell it for just 7000$. Remember that this movie is made, directed and starred by the same guy. So either no one is buying it at that time due to its complexity, or he thinks it's worth more than that so he decided to just make it himself.
idk the cinematography was just mediocre to bad to really bad, it’s a great script but the low budget really shows.. pretty much at all points in the mivie
@@sekutard5157I have to vehemently disagree with you.
Fun fact: this film was produced on a budget of only $7,000.
Curtis Newton shut up curtis
It looks higher budget, especially with the actors performances, strong writing, intelligent storyline and great use of practical effects. My favourite Sci Fi movie of all time.
Alex Rodriguez doubt that.
Spam'n'egg. It's factually true.
MoviesForLife
Amazing It looks no where near a blockbuster film but not super cheap either.
this movie would be sooo much less confusing if the characters wore a different color shirt everytime they went back
Shirts cost money, u know =D
This film isn't complex, it's just poorly written with horrible pacing.
This film is pretty good but im not a fan of movies that i have to watch multiple times to understand. 99% impossible to know the timeline on the first watch
yeah, lets make it easier for 12 year olds.
Hey guess what, I just noticed something, just pay attention to the pattern on Abe's tie, it changes throughout the movie. Or the earpiece in Aaron's ear. He has it for couple of scenes, then he's without it. By the way I don't know if these are hints to the plot or just filming mistakes. What are your thoughts?
This is one of my favorite films. It's perfect. Simple story without being obvious, great acting, truly thought-provoking. I watched it again as soon as the credits started.
Matthew Brough ok i will watch it then,if you say so
If you are saying its your favorite movie then You ain't a human being at all.
You must go to doctor.
Did he just used "simple" word for this movie?

This trailer is awesome, and the movie is a hidden gem. If you like realistic non overdramatised sci-fi watch this without further investigation. You won't regret it. I saw it completely blind and mind blown.
Trusting you. I'll comeback after the movie.

Frankly depends on taste. I like to watch difficult movies which you have to understand on your own.
You guys know that Shane Carruth wrote, directed, edited, produced, did the music and is the main character? The guy with the black hair is him.
+kenneth merced calo he did all that + was dp for upstreamcolor. That guy is a legend.
+Maximilian Mrak Upstream Color was nuts. I need to watch again because I am pretty sure it went right over my head. He is a talented guy though for sure.
Wow what talent!
Dave Grohl would be Proud.
Yeah. And all that with a tiny budget, 7k I’m pretty sure. That’s nothing when it comes to movies. I really respect him.
Thumbs up if you watched Coherence...read the comments and stumbled upon Primer.
same here..
Luke Taylor is coherence good?
Coherence is a better movie i would say but primer is a LOT more of a mindfuck.
Minh Hang Yes.
Coherence is amazing! But I haven't seen Primer yet.
This film is so mind boggling. It's like Stanley Kubrick, David Lynch and Christopher Nolan on Steroids, with a miniscule budget.
LOL I just finished watching it and it definitely gave me the Nolan vibe. I have a feeling that it served as a little inspiration for Tenet.
I have no idea what this movie is about purely from the trailer.

John Smith no
I still have no idea what this movie is about after watching it twice.
At first I was like "hey, I know that theme song! that's from Upstream Color"... turns out it's the same director and same composer. Shane Carruth. Song is called "As If It Would Have A Universal And Memorable Ending".
Most realistic movie about time travel, ever.

(also, don't watch the "Primer Explained" UA-cam video!)
+Shy'N'Awkward
Too late!...I've already seen that too :-(
+Shy'N'Awkward you clearly understood the movie
The first time you watch the movie, you have an inkling of what just happened on your TV and its so very cool, it makes you want to watch it again. The last 30 minutes of the movie is just one big "WTF just happened". The 2nd time through, you start to understand everything that happens off screen using the clues in the last 30 minutes. Its a good idea to document a timeline. There are 2 pivotal moments in the film. The original party, which isn't even shown, is the most pivotal moment in the film. I believe Aaron blames himself for what occurred at the party and that's when he decides to change the past (something that Abe and Aaron have forbidden themselves from doing). The 2nd pivotal moment is what occurs sometime in the future that we don't see. We are left to assume that Aarons actions at the party causes something to happen to Rachael in the future. Its possible that something happens to Abe and Aaron as well since it was Rachaels father that traveled back in time. I love movies that leave the viewer to decipher it. its just nice that the filmmakers have enough confidence in us to figure out their story. Thank you Shane Carruth for challenging us.
Jason Basa I don't understand shit cause the dialogue are hard to understand even for the fucking pace and timeline.
^ Exactly. Poor dialogue and pacing do not a complex movie make. The same issue with the architect scene in the Matrix, it's very verbose/overwritten and ruins the pacing.
Hmm I thought it was all reasonably understandable on the first watch if you pay attention. I mean they describe what happens in the last section of the film, or did I watch a different version?
Guys I just noticed something, just pay attention to the pattern on Abe's tie, it changes throughout the movie. Or the earpiece in Aaron's ear. He has it for couple of scenes, then he's without it. By the way I don't know if these are hints to the plot or just filming mistakes. What are your thoughts?
@@HeartlessKnave The architect scene is one of my favorite all-time monologues. It is enormously fun from a vocab perspective but there isn't a single word that is misplaced or awkward. He is a particular type of program that communicates with a particular methodology and they wrote it really really well to depict that.
And it doesn't ruin the pacing, it purposely breaks the pacing. That moment is supposed to be a halt around which the entire trilogy hinges. Everything that happens before that moment and everything that happens after that moment are completely different. The pace is meant to break so that you break, stop, reorient yourself, and realize that everything you believed now has to be carried out along an entirely new line.
This film is a revelation, even still. Nobody has this much balls.
Thank you so much for this post!
Intellectual engineers Aaron (Shane Carruth) and Abe (David Sullivan) build and sell error-checking technology with the help of their friends Robert (Casey Gooden) and Phillip (Anand Upadhyaya). But when Aaron and Abe accidentally invent what they think is a time machine, Abe builds a version capable of transporting a human and puts the device to the test. As the two friends obsess over their creation, they discover the dark consequences of their action.

@@ild4099 It's part of the plot. They are from different timelines.
A trailer is suppose to entice not inform, is the cover of a book suppose to explain the plot of the book? If the front of the book looks cool enough a person would then read the back blurb, and even then it really shouldn’t have to explain the story...
What's worse, thinking you're being paranoid or knowing you should be?
Thinking you're being paranoid.
It has the uncertainty of whether or not there's actually something you need to be paranoid of.

Actually 'knowing one should be paranoid' implies it also has some uncertainty in it about whether one really should be paranoid or not. You are not being paranoid, although you should be. shouldn't you?

Question for my fellow smart man who also understands the movie in a way "AvErAgE ViEwErS" can't:
How do they manage to totally breeze past the bacteria shift in the movie?
If anyone time traveled, they would die almost instantly because their immune system isn't acclimated to the bacteria of that era(unless someone went back in time to examine and make one? But then they'd drill die? But then-.....)
Plot twist: This movie, like EVERY Time travel movie(or at least movies that expect the audience to take it seriously) is fucking retarded.
Such a fantastic fan trailer. Hire this man.
This is a fan trailer? Amazing. It's more pro than the movie itself, which although low budget was awesome.
Maybe my favorite time travel movie. An awful lot of thought went into the science dialogue to make it sound plausible.

Masterfully done trailer. Very nice touch that you used music from Upstream Color. Well done!
This film BEGS to be remade. I’m usually against remakes, but a big studio remake of this would be AMAZING, and it wouldn’t even cost that much, since it’s basically the “Office Space” of time travel movies.
It is remade and the remake is called TENET. The only difference is that in tenet, there is no need to sleep in the box when time is being reversed
A 4 episode miniseries in Netflix or Amazon would be great.

Underrated comment🤣 Netflix is not real movie lovers.
Home-made trailer using Upstream Color's track. Bravo!
I will probably never see a more interesting or plausible concept of time travel in another movie, ever. Turn the oven on at noon and turn it off at 6pm, the only time that can exist inside the oven is between noon and 6pm on a loop. Climb in at 6pm, wait six hours, climb out at noon. Encapsulating a pocket of time rather than having to construct some huge portal that relies on sci-fi concepts of harnessing wormholes and shit. It's awesome.
"A trailer [...] without giving away the plot." Don't worry. After watching the movie itself, you won't understand more about the plot either...

Great film and hard to believe it was shot 20 years ago!
I didnt understand a single thing in this movie but i watched it all full
I really liked this movie. Unlike almost every other science fiction film I've seen, this one didn't try to dumb down the concepts, to mix them up with a bunch of pseudo-intellectual garbage, or to mix them with corny emotional nonsense. For once, the acting was believable and not melodramatic, and it didn't hurt that the guys were hot. Also, for once I feel viewers are justified in walking out of a film saying they're confused without feeling like rolling my eyes and saying "have you somehow missed a basic science class in high school?" (This sounded more arrogant than I intended, I'm sorry; my point was that I think this one really would be confusing to anyone, because the plot is complicated. Watch it a few times over to figure it out, or otherwise there are some excellent explanations posted online). All in all, I really wish more science fiction movies were presented like this, instead of the trite "drama llama" idiocy that's nearly always thrown in, in I guess an attempt to attract more viewers (so much respect for this one for not going that direction, though, even if it might have meant fewer people would watch).
interstellar is awesome
Maria Luiza Interstellar mixed in way too much corny emotional nonsense and melodrama. If you're interested in the concepts in Interstellar, read the book The Fourth Dimension by Rudy Rucker, much better source and without the nonsense.
is this movie better than predestination with ethan hawk
alberto reyes It's different; predestination is more easily understandable and has more trite emotional nonsense, but probably a more shocking twist.
acting in Interstellar far less melodramatic and tacky than it is in this film

SPOILER!! : The first time Abe tells Aaron about time travel, on the bench in start of the movie. He is actually telling a version of Aaron that has already used the failsafe machine, travelled back, locked his old self in the attic and obviously already know about time travel. Whenever you see Aaron with an earpiece early in the movie, he is acting. Having lived the day multiple times already. At the end of the movie there are 3 Aarons and 2 Abes.

Watching this Film while high on weed makes my Noggin hurt!

This is probably one of the best movies I've ever seen .. so smart and ahead of its time still..
Time-travel.
I disagree entirely. The movie is unusual only in the plot presentation. Once you watch it a couple of times and work out the plot there is nothing of any substance. It is just a film designed to get people talking and a few plot holes to argue about. Ok, this is fun, but hardly makes for a good movie. More like a relatively easy Sudoku puzzle.
Relatively easy Sudoku puzzle? You gotta be kidding me, man! This is the most intelligent film of the world. Can you name one film which is more complex than Primer? I can't imagine the word "easy" associated with it.
You seem to be equating complexity with intelligence. I am saying it is not really a film but a puzzle. Ok, I cannot think of another film quite like it but that hardly makes it the most intelligent film in the world. I stand by my Sudoku analogy, once it is solved all interest is gone. Solving it is not particularly difficult, the variables are few and although there are many solutions it is easiest to choose the one with the fewest trips in the box. Creating a film of higher complexity would not be difficult, but pretty meaningless now this has been done. Better films along a similar low-budget high-concept vein do exist, for example I think Darren Aronofsky’s Pi is far superior.
Hmm, you are right, but I love Primer. I love it because A: it is complex, I like such films, B: it does not have any emotional drama, no non-sense. Everything seems just so real. Plus this film does not have anything that could be termed exposition, unlike most films today.
I'll finally check it out, been meaning to watch it. Recently watched an anime called steins gate which I have a feeling was greatly inspired by this.

Its from upstream color i guess
The score was composed by Shane Carruth who is also the main actor, director, director of photography, editor, writer and producer. He did all that in Primer and Upstream Color
Where can I watch the full movie? Someone please give a link. I have tried everywhere but couldn't find it
So I just watched this after seeing all the comments saying how great this film is.
Honestly? I didn’t like at all. I understand it had a very small budget but I could not hear a word of what was being said half the time. Actors constantly talking over each other’s dialogue. Some of the the areas they shot on busy roads; one scene in particular when both the engineers were talking surrounded by some fountains at night time - could not hear a word.
Thus not really understanding what the hell was going on.
I pretty much got the they had discovered time travel and had variants of themselves. But no idea what their motives were.
I’m sure the film would be better if I could hear the dialogue half of the time. But I couldn’t. Even with my volume turned right up. I guess for me - it comes down to poor production value.
This was suggested to me on the paranormal radio app last night. Seems cool. They said it took only 7 grand to produce.
Who is here after watching tenet?
lmao damn you right....
Gotta watch this
0:56 Masks like tenet.
Tenet and Primer work with the same principle of time travel that is reversing the flow of time to travel to the past.
The difference is just that in primer, the mendatory step for time travel is to sleep in the box with your own oxygen supply. But in tenet you can walk freely with your own oxygen while everything is reversing.
This is the most simple and easy to understand movie I've ever watch...

You know, I remembered seeing a video in UA-cam. A person in a car, the date in the car by clock is something something 2024 or something. The guy in the car suddenly appeared in the middle of destroyed city, as he drive through he saw a building up side down. It was the White House. Suddenly, they were people in white hazard suit's came out of the corner. The guy is panicking and the video end. Then, when I look for it again. It's gone in like 24 hours. I seen it years ago but I don't remember the exact date. I know it's not a prank, because it was in middle of destroyed city, debris everywhere, it was night with no stars, a loud boom in the air, siren blaring ominously, it was like the scene out of a nightmare. The guy clearly in panic and sweating.
