    Personally, I think this 1/4 router has smashed it with some really well designed features.
    What do you think of the LO55?

    I've had mine for a while , technically it's an 8mm router and uses a reducing collet to take it down to 1/4" . 8mm shanks are 4 times stronger so they are so much more versatile and it really is the best corded router on the market . I have a festool 1010 and a 2200 that hasn't left the boxes since I got this it's powerful enough to do most 1/2" jobs and light enough to do intricate work . The only time I don't use it is cordless when I use the 36v hikoki for worktops or 18v makita trimmer for hanging doors and round overs on trim . Both of which are also outstanding . People may say the lo55 expensive at £650 but it's replaced £1500 worth of festool routers in my case . It's a lifetime tool for sure

    Honestly speaking the L055 only has 1 1/2 horsepower there could have been a battery option as well. Most trim routers are similar in power and heading in that direction.

    I have the Mafell rail saw, it’s amazing and has a lot of power. The scribe cut is great but it is offset on all the the saws by about 1/2 a mm when you do the full cut. It’s a bit annoying. The new router as some great features. Nice video mate. I’d love to have a go with that HUGE circular saw. 😂

    I'm a Festool owner, but still a big Mafell fan for the market they shoot for, heavy duty builds, timber framing. Regarding the pre-cut on the track saw, I like Festools 'cut once' technology with the pre-cutting done in front of, at the same time as the primary cut. Small times savings count on paid jobs, and not having to pre-cut then re-cut is a winner. Otherwise, nicely done Mafell. I also like how Mafell has partnered with a vendor that's serious about advancing battery technology, Metabo. Festool's approach to battery development doesn't inspire confidence (they're quite slow to evolve), compared to say an Ego, Dewalt or Milwaukee (yeah, different class of tools, but still, Festool can do better).

    • @burwoodbuild
      @burwoodbuild  7 місяців тому

      Both excellent brands! 👌🏼 Personally, I think the biggest advancements we’ll see moving fwd will be the battery tech powering the tools rather than the tools themselves. Exciting times! 😁

    What I'd like to know is the plunge lock really effective seeing as though it is just a spring on the handle that actuates the lock. A normal plunge lock lever locks firmly in place to secure the posts and stop movement, I'm not convinced this will lock secure and stop any movement. In another video I've seen of the router when the person was changing router bits, he had to put on a glove to remove the router bit it was so stiff inside the collet when it was in the open position. I'd wait a couple of years before buying a newly developed product until they iron out all the faults, that is if there is faults.

      Hi , I didn’t like the intro music, I couldn’t tell when you were speaking or not, I ended up having to turn the music off, and waited until you started moving your lips, and then turn the sound back up, I cannot see the point of having boom boom music,
      However, I do have a lot of machines , chain, Mortis, door lock Mortis, LO65 Router, Jigsaw P1CC , DD40 ,
      Back in 2004/5 I had to replace flooring joints, 24, @ 100 x 300, I made a Arunda jig out aluminium plate, to make tails and pins on the beams and a wall plate, I was doing some experiments, with another make of router, because of the size of the router bit, it was struggling, and this is the reason why I went out and purchased a LO65, it took me roughly 2 days to drop the floor down into the basement and clean all the mess up, and only a day to cut all my beans to length, put wall plates on the wall, and then machine the ends , and the wall plates , to fit all new floor joists, by myself, I watch quite a lot of things on UA-cam, From small one-man bands to very large companies, making very high-end tables doors, et cetera, I do notice one company called black forest wood company over in the UDA , as they struggle sometimes to cut some of their walnut slabs, I’ve sent them a message saying they need to purchase a Mafell MkS185,
      I am now retired, still have most of my tools, if I could find a use for it. I will purchase one of your small quarter inch drive routers, LO55, it looks like a very nice piece of kit, I think at some point, I’ll thinking of putting my MALELL TOOLS on my wall in my lounge as pieces of art, 😂😂😂, if you have a spare LO 55 to go with my collection, be very much appreciated, 😂😂😂😂, Phil from the moulin France,
      Ps I used to live in the UK, now retired to France, and I’m in my 70s, I wish all you specialist joiners carpenters out there in the universe,
