@@donderjager4770 it can be used for timberframing as well as anywhere where you have to cut beams over 100mm (I think that is the minimum cut depth of that particular saw). For example in large production buildings where the roof construction is made from wood. Or pole frame buildings. Basically any beam that you'd have to cross cut multiple times to go through.

Those saws never really kick back. The slow RPM, ratio of power to weight and especially the diameter of the blade make it far less powerful than normal size saws per kilo. They just stop and that's it.

For general chisels - you should not use a hammer or a mallet just the palm of your hand. But is you have to then the correct tool for driving a chisel is a mallet. The hammer delivers a shock type blow which is unsuitable for controlled removal of waste using a chisel.

G, day Scott, team and Gaston.
Q1. I do use a handmade HWD mallet for striking chisels. This is out of tradition, but also avoiding chipping handles.
The beam saw: Yes, I could appreciate a milling process with a rail saw erected over a log. Then power (generator).
    * Douglas fir and cypress pine plantations. Stack timber for natural seasoning.
