It was pretty good not as good as the first one but good regardless, I just want to point out that the original cast will only have the witches (Sanderson sisters) & the zombie Billy

Billy, "I Put A Spell On You" is not an original song by Disney. Screamin' Jay Hawkins sang it in 1956, then Creedance Clearwater Revival did a cover in 1968. Ever since the beginning, the Sanderson sisters have only sang covers.
I like that they stuck with the sibling love is important theme. It was one of my favorite parts of the first movie, and while the sanderson sisters are antagonist, loyalty was important. They died togather in both lives, they stayed togather through life and death
Hocus Pocus may either haunt you in the middle of the night or entertain you until you’ve had enough of it. Billy’s reactions may be the source of happiness that everyone needs as of this moment. He sure has a lot to say that we can always keep in mind.
I liked it. I do wish they had more backstory because it seemed like they would but then it's like they forgot. I couldn't care for the new protagonists BUT I loved the 3 girls who played the young Sanderson sisters. I hope they do a prequel with those three.
I watched the first movie as a little children, then introduced my own kids to it 20 years later. My daughters and I sat down to watch this one together, and it was just as magical. My 19 year old and I both bawled our eyes out when Winnie learned the consequences of the Maxima spell, and when they were reunited once more. I have such a soft spot for those three sisters.
Actually the product placement for more adult stuff like the vacuums is fitting. A good chunk of the viewers are going to be the ones that were children during the first movie. They're adults now so product placing things for them is smart. And there were covers and remixes to songs in the first movie too.
Not me thinking that candle looks like a thick black veiny..... and then Billy says it looks like his Uncle 💀💀💀 I KNOW were not on the same page.... but a little we are 😂😂😂
THANK YOU for genuinely giving this movie a shot. People are already set on a movie reboot being bad before they even watch it that it taints the movie for them. This movie had some really good stuff, way better than I thought it’d be I fully agree with your take
@@celianunn2070 yeah but even in universe the lore is a little vague, for example they say a witch gets her powers on her 16 birthday. Yet after they got book in the second movie, the Sanderson sisters all were witches even though Winnie was the only one who was 16 at the time. You could say that power is meant to be shared, but also Winnie is not one to share anything especially power.
@@iceheart974 They're not lol, that is why even if they couldn't really figure out what to do with the original cast, just like a cameo of Allison in the kitchen or living room as Becca runs up the stairs saying "hi mom" would have been cool.
The point of using the mop and broom I believe is in reference to the first movie. If you remember, Winnie had a broom, Sarah had a mop and Mary had a vacuum. So they got the same stuff just updated😁
For magicae maxima, WInnie was doing it to make her and her sisters all powerful so they wouldnt need the candle to survive anymore, most likely breaking the curse and staying alive forever, but they would later make another potion and steal the lives of every children from salem to be young and "beautiful" forever, she choose this because it was the easiest way to achieve her goals, yet she didnt expect that her sisters would be the price, she tought that all 3 of them would get powerful from magicae maxima but instead it was only winifred since she's the only "true" witch with actual powers between the 3.
Some recommendations if you haven’t done them already: “The Thirteenth Year” (1999), “Johnny Tsunami” (1999), “Up, Up And Away” (2000), “Stepsister from Planet Weird” (2000), “The Other Me” (2000), “Mom’s Got a Date With a Vampire” (2000), “Phantom of the Megaplex” (2000), “Halloweentown II: Kalabar’s Revenge” (2001), “The Scream Team” (2002), “Halloweentown High” (2004), “Twitches” (2005), “Twitches Too” (2007) I know they’re all DCOMs but they’re pretty good. #Bingers
Okay first of all, I love the shirt. Second, I tried to manage my expectations with this movie and was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked it. Totally agree about the songs. You have Bette Midler as your main witch for goodness' sake. Give her a damn song to belt!! I love One Way or Another, don't get me wrong...but still. Those girls in the beginning playing the young version of the Sanderson sisters were perfectly cast! Enjoyed this reaction :)
This movie went from a family horror movie to feminist empowerment movie. The first movie is about the witches making potions for kids, so they can than "eat" them to stay younger. The new one is about getting revenge on the mayor and the good witch "fighting" her to convince her how to not be an extremist and the bad witch passes the "torch" her spell book to the good witch. It became a hero movie. Also, in every scene with a male character they were portrayed as fools.
Lol the first film had only two songs as well. “I Put A Spell On You” was a cover and they wrote SOME lyrics to fit into the witchy vibe. The only original song was “Come Little Children”. This film’s “One Way Or Another” is a cover but the lyrics are changed to fit the witchy theme (in the soundtrack version though). Then “The Witches Are Back” is a cover of “The B*tch is Back” from Elton John. But it was written again to go with the witch theme.
You made this comment a long time ago, but Come Little Children isn't an original. It used to be a lullaby from a long time ago with no specific creator. Although Hocus Pocus heavily cemented it's existence
I liked this movie and was kinda surprised by that I always thought the first one was pretty cheesy but fun don't really care for the new kids but did love the little Sanderson sisters would totally watch a full movie about them, it's been so long and Bette, Sarah and Kathy just got right back into character so cool, I always rooted for them in both movies now.
Absolutely trick or treat. Halloween is a favorite or mine since I was little. The song the sister sings; I sing that soon as the kids come out😂 “ I smell children” EVERY TIME🤣.
I heard that the director was hesitant to even put music in the first movie because he felt it wouldn't fit but after he did he was pleasantly surprised with how many people liked it. So maybe the same thing with happened with the second movie and they didn't want to distract from the story by having too many musical numbers but Idk I'm no director.
"The Witches Are Back" is actually a cover of Elton John's "The Bitch is Back." "I Put a Spell on You" is also a cover, originally sang by Screamin Jay Hawkins.
I don't think the sanderson sisters will be back, but i wouldn't be surprised to see a spin off tv series with the kids or another movie where they are the new "sisters"
Hey Billy, great reaction! About the songs, the only original song in the first film was the "Come Little Children" (the luring song)... All the rest are covers... "The Witches Are Back" is a cover of Elton John's "The B**** is Back" with rearranged lyrics
Not only am I terrified of Spiders, I have a freakin' phobia of them. I don't want them in my car, I don't want them in the house, I don't want them on me. I will scream. Ask my husband.
Did anyone else catch that during the birthday ritual, when they said "Maiden , Mother and Crone too" that it was a reference to The Three Goddess/es from either Neopaganism, the goddess of witchcraft and magic Hecate, or wiccan beliefs??
They only song that was an original in the first movie was "come little children". The second was "I put a spell on you" which wasn't, and I like that they again took a song that we know that fit with the spell they had to cast on the audience...
At least for me, I liked this one more than the first one, yet the one thing I prefer from the first one is the song they did to bewitch the town… I’ll never grow old from “I put a spell on you”💪🏾😁
I love the purple lighting and the Maleficent shirt!! I was happy they made a Hocus Pocus 2, but was a little disappointed in the story line. I wish the original cast of kids came back as adults with their kids (instead of three random kids).

Billy they didn’t have any original songs in the first one. Come Little Children is a poem written by Edgar Allen Poe and I Put A Spell on You is a cover:

The whole reason the second song wasn’t original is because in the first movie they did a cover of a song to put a spell on them so they did the same this time, tried to make a new iconic cover
Billy I’m 15 and i still trick or treat😭 trust me a bunch of kids were trick or treating where I from, even grown adults. I’m going as Mirabel from Encanto for Halloween✌🏼
I really wanted to be mirabel but the problem is when can do something I don’t want it any more like when I was younger my mom didn’t want me to watch twilight and when I turned 13 she said I could but then when I started to watch the movie I saw all of the 1st half of it and got bored and couldn’t watch that anymore because I had to pay it but now I can see the movie and I don’t want anymore
The new witch at the beginning was played by Hannah Waddingham from Ted Lasso - a show you would like! (I’m assuming it didn’t seem like you recognized her)
❤😊 same with beetlejuice 2, the sequels took a while but outstanding!! And the 'ah say uppen die'the bewitching spell, used again! Loved that call back during *one way, or another.*
i liked it too, i go into it with open mind knowing it will be more in this time. some people didn't like the reboot of charmed, but i enjoyed that as well. (which this movie gave me charmed vibes, with the 3 girls increasing the power, i was waiting for a "the power of 3 will set you free" line lol)
I LOVE the reboot series charmed it was what introduced me to me loving witches the only reason I even watched the original show was because i started to watch pretty little liars

(I’m assuming it didn’t seem like you recognized her)
is this why the witch in the beginning didn't have a coven, because she used that spell and lost all her sisters as well
Yes that is the reason! Idky she didn’t just tell them that tho 🧐 pretty selfish if you ask me. Like a misery loves company type of deal.
❤😊 same with beetlejuice 2, the sequels took a while but outstanding!!
And the 'ah say uppen die'the bewitching spell, used again! Loved that call back during *one way, or another.*
Not you calling me out on my dirty room and dehydrated self 😅😂
Yes we have Walgreens in fact whole towns around my area have little Walgreens. They give away flu shots for free basically.
Walgreens still open for me I live in Fort Worth Texas I've seen multiple locations still running.
Mascara you put on your eyes 😂😂😂
i liked it too, i go into it with open mind knowing it will be more in this time. some people didn't like the reboot of charmed, but i enjoyed that as well.
My daughter still goes trick or treating. But we only had 2 trick or treaters show up at our house.
Both songs were covers. The first is the “bitch is back” by elton john.

The book is sewn together with human skin… hence the book sweating lol
We have a Walgreens in every highway exit and always right across from it is a CVS
