BMW M1000XR at last a sports bike for old men!

- A BMW M1000XR pre-production bike is at Motorcycle Live, so I had to take a look and wow! Shall I order one for the spring when the first production bikes arrive in the UK?

Ordered full spec MXR yesterday in California. I am told end of summer, I hope for sooner though.. 42 years young, done it all, but nowadays I just love sport touring and as much as I want 1390 SDGT come out soon (possibly most ideal sport tourer bike for my tastes), I think this bike is top of the crop currently in the slim segment.
I have been told late March/April! Will be awesome when it arrives.

No pannier rack for the M version might be a deal breaker Would need to go after market or soft luggage system like the SW Motec Blaze
indeed the rear subframe is different so no chance of hard panniers, it will be a bag on the rear seat and just enough space for spare undies
Why the manual pre load adjuster on the rear Thought it had dynamic ESA ?

Love how it comes with that concrete seat. Should be able to ride that for a total of 18 miles before you get a sore bum. No thanks. I'll stick till the 1000cc Honda hornet.
There is a deeper seat option and this new seat anyway is much more padded than the outgoing XR. Should be fine, though it is no Goldwing!
oh, negative nelly, that's a nonsensical comment. there countless options to modify. you trying to compare mxr to honda hornet?
The XR has always been a very good bike, and yes, the 'M' variant is amazing, but the seating is awful...once you sit on it, that's it, you're locked in one position.
Thanks for the feedback on the M, I was considering that model but I'd likely not fit it.
They have changed the seating, much flatter and less of a lock in design.

@@FenTourI dunno...I'm looking at your footage again, and the seat still looks very similar to the old one where it's set deep and you effectively sit inside that 'well'. I'll go have a look at one in the flesh though...may look different then

If you had to make a choice between the 1300GS or the M1000XR, which would it be? 😊
Ahhh ha! Both quite different, the GS better for touring etc and the XR and a sports bike for an old man! My new BMW is on order and will arrive hopefully in early April!
All 3 of those bikes looked the business just a wasted opportunity that they weren’t on the floor to allow a better look and sit on.
There was a Standard XR to sit on, but yes a closer view sitting on board would have been nice.
Love the M 1000 XR , however i think its for RICH older gents because most people dont have 30 grand to spare on a motorcycle . I wish
It’s a lot of dough, but most will not purchase outright but get the bike on PCP or that sort of thing.
