- Hey Ya'll, I MADE IT! Started from the bottom, now I'm herrreee! I wanted to document my journey because I started with really damaged/uneven hair, and I was determined to see how locs would heal my hair.
I've always had 4B/4C, low porosity, thick hair, and locs has most def given that thickness back to me!

Locs definitely shows you your hair CAN be health. We normally do the most with our loose hair that keeps it from being healthy.
I did my starter locs yesterday December 10th on less than 2 inches of hair lol.
Being a loose natural or relaxed isn't for me. I just want to get up and go.

I'm not a loctician, but to me, it doesn't matter the state of your hair or how long it is when you start--it is how you maintain during the process I promise you length will come, and you hair will loc faster!! But yeah, I don't think alot of people realize that because they just see locs as tangled up hair! Big Blessings! 🖤
I just got my hair loc'd yesterday and it's uneven too but honestly, I dig it. It will grow and catch up with time and care. Love your locs!

Your hair is going to be very long come your 2nd year... I'm glad you fully embrace your loc journey. I'm also 4c & about 4months locd I like to watch women with locs similar to my texture.. I love the snapback each time u get a fresh retwist... Its like a length check

Thanks for sharing. My hair was a lot like yours. It was uneven and damaged. I have shedding alopecia so it was a struggle for me. I have been loc'd for about 15 months now. I am happy I made the decision.
Beautiful!! I started my locs July 11th of 2020 and so far my journey has been a experience. Coming from always doing something new with my hair to cutting it all off then going through something to not doing anything with my hair just a Afro then my Loc journey and I’m enjoying it so far

Your hair is so thick!😍 Ugh, I wish my hair was thick! My locs are so flat looking because my hair is normally medium density thing strands when loose. I’m letting the process take its course though. Can’t wait til mine thicken.

Your hair did so much... its amazing.... your locs are so beautiful..... I started my third set over the weekend... I'm super excited...... I combed out my 2nd set in September because I didn't like the parting... and as soon as I was done I realized that I miss them... so here we are now....hopefully 3rd time is the charm.....

@@BubbieScorpeasians trust me you got this! the biggest part of the loc journey, is letting go and letting your hair do what it needs to do to matte and coil together, so it can get stronger and form the actual loc! your hair will let you know when it needs to be washed, oiled, etc! I'm going to do a video on this very soon!

I’m glad you had so many pics and showed all the stages. I started mine on July 14, 2021 and I worried about how much they unravel between retwist, especially since I’m waiting at least a month between retwist, I want locs on the thicker side of the spectrum. But looking thru your pics, I noticed you unraveled as well and they turned out gorgeous in the long run and eventually loc’d. Do you have any flat locs?
Hey Shaemon!! ! Congrats on starting your locs sis! Yes at the beginning my locs began to unravel, until I started experimenting with my hair and learned why my hair was unraveling. I have a video on: How to Maintain a retwist for a Month, that might be helpful! But my sister, who I will introduce too as well, has 4A hair and her hair still unraveled up until her 2 years, until a few months ago. Your hair will loc regardless if it unravels or stays maintained between retwists. And also--I do have I think 1 flat loc, I believe. It's one of my thickest locs! What product was used to start your locs? I have 4c soft fine hair, not sure if the product like a paste texture is too heavy or not?

Yes ma'am they do! I'm not sure if you have heard of Bindi Marc here on UA-cam, but she did DIY sisterlocs/microlocs with relaxed hair. If your hair is Afro-textured, than hair will loc! I'm not a loctician but that is my spin on it! 🖤
