Ansuz and Algiz are letters in the Elder Futhark alphabet. Ansuz is the equivalent to "A" while Algiz is equivalent to "Z." If you look on the back of the blaster where the body meets the buffer tube you can actually see those two runes, which is a really cool way to incorporate a maker's mark, in my opinion.
Ansuz and Algiz are the names of the runes on the side of the gun. Kinda like a signature (check out the other commenter, they give a better explanation)
I absolutely love that the designer used an AR Grip and stock. Im doing the same in my future design. Also Magpul makes excellent products. I used a ton of their stuff while I was in the Army. Great vid Luke!
Fun fact: Ansuzalgiz is made of the names of two Elder Futhark runes (Ansuz and Algiz) ^^ You can see them "carved" where the stock buffer meets the case of the blaster, just below the screw.
I like that we're going 2 stage trigger now, those are IMO the best. AR furniture is cool and I definitely enjoy not redesigning the wheel to reprint grips. However for stocks, I think there are times when 3D printed / nerf versions are better, as IMO they're the best place to put the battery but buffer tubes are never a bad option
The other bonus of using a buffer tube design like that, is that if you print it using mil-spec or standard spec, you can technically buy any butt stock that would normally go on a real gun and it should just fit right into place on your buffer tube. The Magpul butt socks are great but there are some other brands out there that make some that are actually a little bit lighter than those. But the Magpul was a good choice.
@@ansuzalgiz Can I tilt the buffer tube down about 30 degrees? Because the main reason I like the Kriss Vector stock over the buffer tubes (and even Worker's LightningStorm knockoff) is because it brings the sights closer to my eye so I don't have to crane my neck.
This is a step up for nerf community. This can be upgraded by modifying the barrel to be longer to make it look like a Kriss vector or a g56. Both of these versions adds more tactical rail and more tactics
Also with those buffer tubes you can put the battery in there, 2x18650 batteries end to end fit well inside the buffer tube, as thats where gel blasters have the battery most times.
if you're gonna buy one fully build, 100% go for the fdl-3. It shoots slightly harder (I think), is brushless so no motors wearing out, you can change the power, firing mode AND rate of fire which kinda makes it a hummingbird, bulwark, xr-2 and any 3 round burst blaster in one. If you were thinking of making the hummingbird yourself, on the other hand, I recommend the hummingbird.
Best reviews Luke !!! cant wait for reveals of your top secret designs !! Hummingbird is a work of art !! I wish Hasbro would have team members like you guys!!
White is instantly recognizable as OOD, I don't think any other chanel does their background that way. It's also super light and fresh compared to the darkness of some other backgrounds (i.e. DRAC).
Given a choice between buffer tube and Nerf stock attachement points on 3d printed blasters; I'l like the option to print either option as depending where one lives, postage/shipping of a magpull stock might get a person in rather hot water with LEO's but the Nerf stock options might not. Additionally sourcing magpull stocks might be harder or easier than Nerf ones depending on local in addition to shipping issues. Combine that with the collection of stocks a user might have and then having the different options for the tube/point lets folks use gear they already have instead of ordering new stuff in. As for the pegboard; use whichever you like best. :P
I like the white background but I feel like you could do some fun stuff with RBG LED strips as down lighting onto the peg board so that you could change the feel of the video (using color) depending on the content. The RBG LED's would also allow for the most flexibility in terms of choosing a color without having to redo the entire board.
I don't tend to use stocks on blasters very often, just as an ergonomic preference. When using a stock, the buffer tube is definitely the better option, but you have to put a stock on it. If I had a hummingbird I'd want to use it without the buffer tube as just a compact blaster, but I'm not sure if the design allows for that.
For the buffer tube question, yes and no. It's nice for a cheap amazon bb gun stick, but the n strike attachment is something everyone in the hobby has. I think if you were going to sell it, make 2 versions, one with an n strike attachment and a buffer tube.
I personally love the buffer tube and picatinny rail I personally like making some blasters a little realistic but with bright colors and the buffer tube and picatinny ties it all together
I see a Takedown with speed tubes in the background. Also I would prefer to have the option to use either stock type. All of my stocks i currently own use standard nerf point. I will eventually order a few buffer tube stocks at somepoint
When he fired it at the start of the video, I thought I saw part of one of the darts get shredded off. Also when he threw the mag out of the blaster because it was empty, it reminded me of... the empty water bottle YEET
I understand the logic behind using real steel grips and stocks- the ergonomics will almost always be better, and there are more options available than 3d printed (such as overmolding), however I have yet to implement it in my designs just because I worry a bit about how it affects the image we have as a hobby, and how it might effect public games. We already 3d print “gun” shaped things, using actual AR hardware makes the whole don’t use dark filament/paint that much more important.
Hi Luke, do you know any build guides for this? Does the seller provide instructions? I'm a pretty new modder so a build guide for this would be amazing.
I wonder if any modder has or will come up with a new compact (or slimmed down) yet powerful electric springer. Like the Stampede or the Vulcan kind of internals. Not only will your darts last longer because it's not being shredded by flywheels, but it can also have a brass barrel and improve the performance even more. I would love that. Also its spring should (or at least could) be switched out for stronger or weaker springs to fit the match. Plus this could cut the size of the battery needed since it's just being used to prime back a heavy spring. I'm not sure but it could be cool. What do you all think?
As a firearm guy that has sidetracked into foam, I am constantly befuddled on the resistance to the buffer tube design. I understand wanting to sell your own proprietary stocks (I guess), is Hasbro really making bank of Modulus stocks? All 3-D printed blasters should use a buffer tube. Question: How far off do you think we are from double stack magazines?
If you're talking about having the darts loaded the way bullets are in a magazine, then we already have something like that in Dominator mags, but they're pretty wide😅, but 40 darts soooo compromises!
Buffer tubes have several drawback. They can be a bit thin and break easily if they are plastic . I broke my DZP within 10 minutes of first playing with it. They also have less real estate to house a mag holder, as with the Zungenbrecher style stock from 3d printed solid. They are very real steel esque looking, which couldn't bode well fi you are seen with them in public. Finally, they are a bit thin and can hurt if you pressthem into your shoulder meat too long. Just saiyin . They aren't perfect but do have some advantages. My favorite stock right now is the raider stock. Those are getting hard to find so I wish the community would come together and make more. Second is the Prophecy stock as it feels good and has the cheek mount. Third is my DZP buffer tube. And finally the built in stock on the perses.
@@outofdarts Yeah it could have been better and is pretty flimsy. The new one solves the issue of collapsing but not this. I think it would be hard to make a sturdy buffer with plastic but I could be proven wrong
When you say magpul is that a brand or developer of parts? Sorry if this is an obvious for most I just didn't know. Thanks for another great video Luke!
Magpul is a brand that makes accessories and parts for real-steel firearms, including grips. Sometimes, 3D-printed blasters fit the same spec so someone can screw on a ready-made grip that feels comfortable to them. - Perry
The daybreak cage on 40mm is almost identical to the eclipse in terms of crush and wheel concavity. Kuryaka (the designer of daybreaks) stepped back from the hobby partly and isn't planning on making more in the near future sadly.
The only thing that would make it look better is if the faux barrel was a few inches longer. Well that and if the bottom of the front grip swept forward just a bit to make the profile more attractive
I’m stuck between the modded 175 FPS spectrum and worker Phoenix. I just don’t know. I think it’s gonna come down to accuracy and performance. The hummingbird would be the clear winner i think if it wasn’t more than twice as expensive
Over time white ages really poorly and also shows dust and potential stains far more easily. I'd recommend grey since it's a middle ground color and will look more professional for longer periods without as much maintenance.
