Since you declined to have a first course, Ivana didn't have to wait for anyone else.

@@iuliandragomir1 Mici is not something that people used to accept in the centre, is more like a bbq for Piața Mare, Park or Târg, usually. But, since, along the terraces and fancy restaurants there are now also fast foods, seems like it's not that shun upon. Which is OK, in a way. They're good. Nothing to be ashamed of if you like it. And praz? Only ate it made by some Hungarian girls in Timișoara and I don't really think it should have tasted like that. Not too popular in Craiova. Maybe in TV sketches about the countryside 60 years ago. Cause I have visited the countryside a few times IN OLTENIA too and no one grew or bought some to eat. There's some idiot chef that made a pizza fast food joint with praz in in in Craiova. Might be worse than pineapple, never tried it.
The Romans actually first settle in Drobeta Turnu Severin (known in roman time as Drobetense, later the Severin's Tower was add it to the name), where the Trajan Bridge was the first bridge over the lower Danube, the ruins of the bridge are still there
Surely the Romanescu Park and the Botanical Garden in Craiova awaken pleasant memories of romantic times when many of us took long and frequent walks :) beside our beloved ones ;). Thanks a lot guys for these vlogs about Craiova and Oltenia!!! Keep it up ! & Noroc sa aveti mai vere !!!

Craiova is safe. You missed the best Mici in the park or the central market. I am glad you saw the Palatul Jean Mihai but you didn't comment on the Brancusi sculptures!!!! Enjoy the rest of your visit to Oltenia. I love it here. Reply
As a local of Craiova,I am so glad that you enjoyed this city! You should’ve visited the park in the summer, some crazy and cool parties were going on at the spooky castle in the summer nights and the bridge was so unstable until it was remade 2 years ago.As for the old falling yellow building in the city centre it is my high school (Colegiul National Carol 1😂)Love your vlogs!
In the Art Museum you’ve seen the work of Brancusi. He was one of the most (greatest!) influencer of modernism in sculpture. Like a Picasso for paintings
Brâncuși(ro) and not Brancusi(fr) is considered the father or the 1st the founder of the modern sculpture(or contemporary?), exactly like Picasso is for art/paintings :D

About the flowers, it is customary in Romania to bring flowers at a fist date, actually at the fist dates and also after the relationship starts whenever you feel like it, not only at anniversaries and such. My first date with my now 10 years husband was waiting for me beside his car with a big bouquet of roses in the passanger seat, opening the car door for me, then a nice caffe and a walk in the park. And second and third date was sending flowers and chocolatte at my office before meeting. Now he is doing this every anniversary always switching the chocolates with something else. So yeah, romance is not dead, you just have to find great people to share it with. And i would like to see this more in younger generations, but as you can see in the park, they are keeping the tradition alive. We love you guys, and get Ivana flowers or small things for no reason at all. It is a great feeling for both, to see her joy is everything. Love you guys, you have to come to Romania sometime for Christmas, belive us 😍🤗

I'm from Craiova!❤every time i look at english people talking about our country's history is always very scary and interesting, but when i look at romanian people talking about our history it always boring lmao. I love you guys so much❤wish you have so much fun around Romania❤
Saddly the musical fountain is under maintance,it's in the modern city center near by Mercur Mall, still the bothanical garden it's really worth the visit. The Stadium is also beautiful, the Castle was a bar for a lot of time, went inside and you could also visit and have a drink on the top of it.The old town is full of people in the evenings.Beautiful video!
hei ...like the bride from the Art Museum I know you from You Tube...you made me a big surprise showing up in my town...many travellers only take the transilvanian paths, but surely Craiova has his beauty...you were looking the "musical fountain"... it was just near to the Art Museum in the big square in front of Mercur shopping center, but I guess is not in function in this time of year, but in summer nights when people use to hang out more in the evening on terrasses on central Calea Unirii (Union way) and Old town....You missed English park and City Hall right beside the Main Square...the National theatre building which is exquisite...anyway thank you for your visit and watch out on "meech and mustard" overconsumption
You are right about the bridge , they just finished renovating it this year , it was deemed unsafe ..the wooden floor was rotting away . Danube Gorges are cool indeed , great views , boat rides and hiking . Since you're going in that area there are some cool water mills further in "Morile de Apă de la Rudăria(Eftimie Murgu)" if you are interested in such things
Try visiting Hunedoara and Deva. These are very nice cities with a few touristic atractions, such as the Citadel of Deva and the Corvins' Castle, ond of the most beautiful castles in Romania
Too bad you didnt take a walk across Calea Bucuresti, the main street crossing Craiova. You could have seen all those funeral services and second hand clothes shops. Truly amazing experience
You guys love Romania so much i see, all people who comes here in our country they become in love of it. Even the king of UK got in love on this country and has his own house here.
When I used to travel to Craiova withy work, I remember I always ate the best beef on hot vulcanic stone, at Epoca restaurant. I’ll go there everytime I have the chance for that beef that melts in my mouth. I highly recomend it If you are still there. ❤
So true at the end, but rou are also very ignorant and if one was in the 1990s in Craiova and had a bad experience, their entire life that person will speak just about that bad experience and telling it like its the same 30 years afterwards, although they never ever went back to that place. Ignorance, plain and simple, because things change and they change fast, especially since Rou is trying hardly to catch up with the never-enforced-communistic countries in the West. Congrats, Craiova! :D
I'm from Craiova, if you are still there visit the Madonna Dudu's church and the cathedral church and the history museum and the romanescu park and the moll
Thanks very much guys for the beautiful review of Craiova. Is my home town and o love it. The musical fountain wasn't far from that restaurant I think the waitress understood that you asked if they have a musical fountain right there. That was what Google was translated anyway. Most of romanians talk english because is the number 1 language learn in most of the school so the best is to ask people directly and not use Google translate
The people who told you Craiova is dangerous are probably not from Craiova. When we hear the jokes about swords and knives we laugh and don't dismiss them so people actually think that's how life is like in Craiova. Of course oltenians are known for being very fiesty and quick to argue, I am not a prime example of that. We are also known for eating a ton of leeks and garlic soups which we call saramură,other oltenian dishes are ciorbă de raci, ciorbă de măsline(Olive soup), leek soup, sauted garden sorrel(ștevie) with a lot of garlic, cococi (like tortilla), litterally vegan sarmale, leek pie, leek shtrudel, leek everything, ostropel de pui (different than saramură), saramură de teci ( yellow bean garlic soup) and of course the main sauce we make with only garlic, salt and oil called mujdei and mămăligă.

Hello dears, every city in Romania has dark and dangerous places, but you came to visit and load your memory with beauty not to look for trouble, so don't worry, Romanians are good, warm and friendly as long as you stay away from bad ones , enjoy, have something to see and tell, Romania is the most beautiful country in Europe that you are discovering now! Bon voyage!
Crayova rocks. Tourists usually go for Transilvania , Sibiu, Brasov, castles on a way... But, Walahia is great . Just don't make someone angry to put a spell on you. Their magic is hardcore.
You skipped the best mici in craiova😅. They are in the nicolae romanescu parc, either at the debarcarder or at ciobanasu they are really, really good(coming from a guy who lives in craiova)
Cheers guys! Craiova is indeed very beautiful and worth visiting, although very underrated. I am glad that you've started touring and vlogging around other areas and cities less popular among foreign tourists, so maybe you gave a hand! I also recommend Constanta, Braila, Targoviste, Galati.
you are in the best zone of Romania-Oltenia. I suggest you guys to visit restaurants with oltenian folk music and you will fall in love. Regarding the football team, be a blue lion, not a Giluesti crow!:)
Craiova îs a very Old City! The capital of a region (OLTENIA). with very good people as longer you are ok.They do not take s...t from nobody.Very quick thinking, well educated, good University in Craiova.God bless Craiova!!
Guys, a personal opinion. It's much better if you visit places having a local guide. Romanian people are nice and hospitable, it's impossible to not find someone ready to give you 2-3 hours of his/her time at no expense! Just post a request on one of your clips then select one or more candidates. Then, if you want, you can retrace your itinerary alone if you want. At least in Romania it's not a problem of safety, but one of interpretation. We are proud people but we're also aware we're not perfect. If your local guide has a good handling of English, he's also probably open-minded and okay with some criticism coming from you.
Hi guys! Are you still in Craiova city? The musical fountain is in the Piata Mihai Viteazu square but its not working now with music, only in summer it’s singing, the waitress thought that u are asking about a dish caled like that Fantana muzicala/the musical fountain thats why she acted weird!😅😅😅 If u rent a car vizit Tg-jiu city, Cheile Sohodolului, Tismana and Lainici Monasteries and aswell Danube side!🥰❤❤❤
Nice to see this city, I didn't saw it myself. Looks nice! As for the restaurants, well, soups are already made and they can give you fast, also it's the first course. Some grill like "mici", fries and other things are made when requested so it takes a bit fit this also represents the second course (from the old well-known three course meal). They could give you faster or at once if you ask.
If you did not get to see Fantana Muzicala in Craiova, maybe you can try the Fantana Muzicala in Pitesti (only 1hr away by car) :), it's also a cool relaxing city, with a beautiful natural forest called Trivale (the Tri-Valley), and has a lot of awesome parks, Arges river and entertainment - Zoo/Planetarium/old churches/museum/târg - and a whole lot of MICI ! (it's also on the way to Danube)
You were talking about the musical fointain at some point in the video. I think that the fountain in front of the Craiova city hall was the one you were looking for. I don't know if it is still working or not, anyway you could go back to Bucharest at Unirii Square where are all those big fountains in the center of the street (at the other end of the Parliament building). Those fountains definitely are musical during the night and also include some pretty nice lights -they are playing only in the weekend evenings, but don't remember if all year around or only in spring summer and autumn 😁. Maybe other people can leave a comment with more details.
Great video, i appreciate very much that you promote this beautiful city, with friendly people! And of course it's not a gangster city, you're right, i agree! I hope you will return in Craiova next year, to see the city in the summer too, to see your friend Ana and eat mici again in the Old Town and also in the Nicolae Romanescu park. When you will get married, it would be nice for Ivana to buy her wedding dress from the Old Town of Craiova 😊
I also bought my wedding dress in the first shop you showed. 🤗If you are staying longer, you can also go to Constanta, by the sea. If you need any ideas you can message me and I can give you advice. I'm so glad you're enjoying Romania. Good travels x
If you like bridges go visit the one of Gustave Eiffel in Moldova on the border, in Iasi Hotel Traian was built by Eiffel again... I think in Timisoara there is another bridge by EIffel Gustave just like the one in Barcelona, but smaller! France Eiffel Tour is built with metal from Romania and Statue of Liberty NEW YORK CITY also Eiffel! 🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼🗼
The musical fountain worked for the first 2,3,4 years i dont remember exactly. You can find videos of it on youtube. I believe its not working anymore as it was build and operated by some chinese manufacturer and they finished the contract or something and no its not "singing" anymore :D.
Yeah, I used to love the relaxed after work feeling the musical fountain was giving Me, it was just as much of a normal staple kind of thing for the people here as Ravel's Bolero at sunrise in Vama Veche. Oh well... Here's hoping it will be fixed someday.
16:47 Some people still live in 1990-2000. Yes, back then Craiova was something else but now is very safe. Of course, like all places in this world, not 100% perfect and sometime you can meet not very nice people, but still a nice and safe city.
If I'm not mistaken, Craiova's old town (and other cities in Wallachia and Moldavia) used to be bigger, but a lot of old buildings were demolished and were replaced with commie blocks. The city of Galați is probably the best example, as it used to be a beautiful Danube port city and now it's pretty ugly as more than 90% of the old town and old city was replaced with commie blocks (and the very few old/historic buildings are not even taken care of). Cities in Transylvania were not affected as much by this compared to cities in Moldavia and Wallachia. My parents, for instance, have always told me how Ceaușescu wanted to destroy the old Saxon buildings in Brașov and replace them with "modern" ones, but thankfully, it didn't happen.
Galați was heavily bombed in WW2. By soviets, americans and germans. More than this, in 1944, after Romania exited the Axis powers, the germans dynamited most of the big buildings in the city center, as payback. Before that, Galati was a pretty nice an wealthy city, with many big buildings in french style. Then the communists mutilated it even more with the big/ugly concrete buildings.
@@wouldnt_you_like_to_know Something could've been done regardless though. Like look at Poland. A lot of cities were bombed almost to cease to exist and they reconstructed the old buildings starting almost from scratch.
Thank you all for your support

The Romans actually first settle in Drobeta Turnu Severin (known in roman time as Drobetense, later the Severin's Tower was add it to the name), where the Trajan Bridge was the first bridge over the lower Danube, the ruins of the bridge are still there
Nicolae Romanescu park it is considered the largest natural park in Eastern Europe.
I think whole Europe
Surely the Romanescu Park and the Botanical Garden in Craiova awaken pleasant memories of romantic times when many of us took long and frequent walks :) beside our beloved ones ;).

The musical fountain only works in the summer days. For the winter its a skating rink
Love you guys, you have to come to Romania sometime for Christmas, belive us 😍🤗
Im very happy to hear that tourist like our city.😁

Somebody need to give you the golden Mici prize because you like it very much 😁
Visit Ramnicu Valcea, about 100km north-east from Craiova. Small but exquisite city with good restaurants and awesome surroundings

Ivana could be romanian. She has the heart for it. ❤️
You should go an visit Oradea. It grew a lot in the last 10 years.
Hi guys! Are you still in Craiova city? The musical fountain is in the Piata Mihai Viteazu square but its not working now with music, only in summer it’s singing, the waitress thought that u are asking about a dish caled like that Fantana muzicala/the musical fountain thats why she acted weird!😅😅😅

Yes Steve you should buy some flowers for Ivana, just like that ...a surprise 😊😘 I'm sure she will love it
Nice to see this city, I didn't saw it myself.

The musical fountain worked for the first 2,3,4 years i dont remember exactly. You can find videos of it on youtube. I believe its not working anymore as it was build and operated by some chinese manufacturer and they finished the contract or something and no its not "singing" anymore :D.

16:47 Some people still live in 1990-2000. Yes, back then Craiova was something else but now is very safe. Of course, like all places in this world, not 100% perfect and sometime you can meet not very nice people, but still a nice and safe city.
the "crime rate" meme is just that, a meme. the city is as safe as u can get, for a city.
Exactly.
