As much as I'm a bit of an old prude. It saddened me that Claudia's life seemed to become less valuable when her personal life became public knowledge. That's truly heartbreaking and totally unacceptable.
It didn't become less valuable. I don't recall anyone suggesting that. Her case has always attracted a great deal of publicity and still does.
Hi Jewels and everyone else.
I think what Maureen means is that people became less sympathetic of Claudia's plight upon learning about the circumstances surrounding her love life because she's a woman. If a man went missing, and he was embarking on affairs, and being a typical Jack the lad about town prior to his disappearance, nobody would have cared, let alone commented on his personal circumstances. Yet us women are expected to be virtuous and perfect at all times. It just demonstrates how hypocritical and judgemental society is, especially towards women and girls. I'm not saying that's right (I don't agree with that attitude), just telling it how it is unfortunately 🙄
@@nicolajayne1594 spot on comment.
A man wouldn’t get any coverage if he went missing. The press don’t care about missing men or boys. It’s predominantly white , blonde haired , attractive , middle class women who get the biggest amount of press attention.
Her choices and lifestyle put her at a higher risk of violence most women are killed by their partners or ex partners.
This scenario nearly happened to me on my way home from work late one winter's night in the late 1980's. I was standing waiting on a bus on a deserted road when from a wooded area a man appeared from behind me and tried to drag me back to where he had appeared from. I will never know as a teenager where i got the strength from to fight against him but at the bottom of the long road in the far distance i saw headlights. I got out of the headlock and ran down this road in torrential rain with the perpetrator running after me....i can remember thinking and crying i dont want to be raped i dont want to die and i just jept running in the middle of this road directly into the headlights of what was my bus home. The bus emergency braked the driver jumped out and i fell on my knees to the ground screaming he's trying to abduct me. Unknown to me at this moment in time the bus driver had seen my perpetrator and chased after him but this man disappeared back into the wooded area where he first appeared from behind me. This bus driver saved my life...he put me on the bus which was empty and drove me home and took me to my parents door and the RUC was called out to interview me. I have lived with this all my life and that experience haunts me still. To me looking back it was a sliding door moment for this perpetrator who saw me as an easy target on that late, cold rainy winter's night. Yet the sliding door moment for me was those headlights in the far distance and that bus driver who basically saved my life. Do i think Claudia was abducted on her way to work in the early hours of that morning...yes as to a predator at that time she was an easy target when the streets where empty. I only wish Claudia could have escaped from whoever abducted her. My only wish for her family is that on day justice prevails in finding the truth. Thank you Emma
Wow what a story. Thank his for that bus Colin he to save you xx
That’s horrific I’m so sorry, seems like an angel protected you.
Was DNA taken from bedding and pillowcases?
@@irenedavo3768yeah they did dna of the house .... nothing there
Thanks for covering this case. I've often wondered what happened to her. My heart goes out to Claudia's family and friends
While women's habits should not affect their safety you are a fool if you are not doing risk assessment. And even that is not enough. There is no safe place.
RIP Claudia, you would be so very proud of what your late father did for you and others. Thinking of your family and loved ones. Thanks, Emma for covering this. Claudia deserves justice!

We don’t know for sure that Claudia is dead. She very well may be, but a body has never been found
@@markcyphus3292 I will take my 'RIP' back, that is very true, we don't know for sure:(
@@annaf7228 it is one of the few missing cases where we can be pretty sure she IS dead. I think the only other possibility is that she is unable to communicate… ie kept in captivity. Unlikely, but possible. I think she left her house on the evening of 18 March, and was killed by someone she knew
I love the way you acknowledge that Claudia and her father are now reunited in another dimension. Love is stronger than death.
It always makes me sad for the families when cases are unsolved 😩
Same
Knowing that after all this time, Claudia’s mum still visits her home and has kept everything exactly as she left it, makes my heart hurt. Claudia is so loved. I hope the truth is uncovered someday. :(
On the "its ok if they arent harming someone". Cheating is super harmful. Doesnt mean people deserve death, but you *have* to be prepared to get shamed about that
Emma seriously there aren’t enough words to describe how passionate and dedicated you are to every single case that you cover. You now have 246K Subscribers and growing!! Your hard work does not go unnoticed ❤ A New Baby,Touring,2-3 Videos a week,Written a book and now venturing into a Podcast!! 💪😍 Great Things happen to Great People and I take my hat off to you. Just outstanding and extremely balanced and that is why you are My number 1 Queen of True Crime xxx❤️❤️💙💙💙💙
Hear, Hear! 😊
What a beautiful cat! 😍 He gazes up at Emma with such love on his face. I'm sorry for Claudia's Dad. He died not knowing what had happened to his daughter. Her other family members have to live with their pain.
Respect to her dad and the mp who managed to have Claudia's law passed
It's scary to think that if someone abducted and murdered Claudia, they are unlikely not to go on to commit further violent crimes. But if they had been caught & convicted of another crime, their DNA should be in the system and would have been linked to Claudia. So her murderer could still be out there, murdering people...
Thank you for another great episode, Emma. I love the way you tell these victims' stories with such passion ❤
Emma you done this young woman and her family proud ❤
Could you do a case on Andrea knable from Louisville, Ky. She’s been missing for about 5ish years. She worked for ‘missing in America’ and disappeared.
Unsolved case that is always tough for me. In my hometown we have a case with three children missing and it never will be solved. Horrible stuff
I need to hear about this wtf? Three kids
It’s not a “new patio” situation is it?
Wow 😢 what is this case please ?
So unfair the way she was potrayed in the media.
The media are always mean
Thank you for covering this case Emma. I remember when her disappearance was first on BBC Look North, so it has always stuck with me.
Did you look at the CCTV of the man coming from behind her house? I always found that to be creepy.
I saw that too. I think there were drug runs in that area.
I lived near Claudia at the time she went missing and it sickens me that someone has got away with her murder.
do the locals ever gossip about who they think did it?
Yes we do
@@rivergypsycat4979 any suspects?
@@rivergypsycat4979…. Do any names crop up other than the arrested ? … the creeper? The brothers the mate/brother in law the acomb Escobar or the Geordie mick (Released no charge) ..
Thank you Emma for saying what you did about Claudia's relationships, sick of the holier-than-thou types.
The creepy thing is that whoever did this is still on the prowl, unless they are in prison now for something else
The murderer was one of the guys who was arrested. They obviously just didn't have enough evidence.
I’m from York I grew up down the road from Claudia’s cottage. Everyone who lives or lived in York still talks about Claudia to this day and how sad it was that her dad never found out what happened to his daughter.
People were also quite unnerved by her disappearance was it someone she knew, an isolated incident or was she killed by a serial killer?
Tiny little side note Heworth is pronounce Hughworth I was like she lived where? 😂.
RIP Claudia gone but York will never forget you and keep wondering what happened to you ❤.
Love the podcast Emma your a lab amazing lady and portray each case carefully and thoughtfully I’m sure you help so many victims and families every day.
York locals will never forget. I thought that too, best way I've ever heard Heworth and Acomb said 😂😄
So close to 250k, well deserved, I'm still flabbergasted it isn't more ❤
A few years ago we went to York. We stayed in the pub that was her local. They all spoke of her fondly. There were lots of theories but most of them had concluded that they would her remains someday, as it was so.put of character for her to just dissappear.
Did they say anything else? Did they have an idea who did it? X
As a guess, I'd say her remains are in the North Yorkshire Moors
We in York disagree, much closer to home
This case has never left me,thank you for covering this Emma. I hope one day all is revealed, thinking of her family❤
I remember when she disappeared. It caught me and I have periodically checked online to see any new updates. Thank you for covering this case and I sincerely hope that someone sees it and new leads are forthcoming.
14 years - I remember when this happened. Thinking of her and her friends and family ❤
15 years ago
I was hoping you would cover this I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts
My heart goes out to her mother sister and friends it’s so sad
Yesss, finally! Thank you Emma. I’ve been requesting true crime content creators to cover this case for years. It’s very close to my heart because I’m from York (live about 2 miles from Claudia’s home) I’m the same age as Claudia, and us Yorkies still haven’t forgotten about her. Nobody simply vanishes. Somebody knows something. Also, Claudia disappeared from a suburb called Heworth, (pronounced Hue-worth) not Hayworth. There is no such place as Hayworth in York.
I wore my Chase shirt with pride on Saturday when I went on a photo shoot with my daughter!
Look I might be in the minority here but I'm a bit tired of the "let's not judge someone for having sex with a married person" POV. You can hold that view without wishing murder on them. I absolutely judge someone for that but would never wish them harm. And it does not mean I don't believe they 100 percent deserve justice.
I agree. There is responsibility on both sides. The whole "they are single" thing doesn't take their ability to make moral decisions away. I'm single. If a man is married, I'm not touching him with a bargepole. But of course, it doesn't excuse anyone being hurt or killed. Doesn't mean it's just ok to do though.
I’m 30 minutes from York and remember this first breaking on the news. It’s just heartbreaking that still to this day we don’t know what happened to Claudia ❤❤❤ 💔💔💔
I live In York also still now this case is always talked about. Yorks biggest mystery
Does any one else find it strange when people go missing/are murdered on your birthday? Claudia went missing on my 19th birthday. Maybe it’s just because it’s a strange juxtaposition in which one person is celebrating another year in their life and at the same time another’s is changed or lost forever 😢
Rest in peace to both Claudia and her Daddy Peter! I hope they are safe and happy together now ❤
My 20 year old son is a chef in a very upscale village restaurant x the hours are extreme and the wage is minimum x but he loves it ❤
Another dignified deep dive! It’s amazing how detailed these videos are even when you post so regularly!
Thank you for covering this Emma
I lived in York for 6 years and this case still devastates the city…
The general consensus amongst the locals is that the police 100% know who did it but theres not enough evidence to prosecute…. Heart breaking for everyone involved 💔
Yeah, the police arrested a group of men in one fell swoop and got as far as engaging the CPS for a charging decision. That was unfortunately denied.
I am absolutely sure the police know what happened and just can't make anything stick.
I went to York Uni, specifically Goodricke College. I still think about her. I hope she's at peace and that justice will be done one day.
Honestly I believe she had a secret stalker and they abducted her… probably killed her and stashed her body in maybe a freezer then dumped it when the heat died down. You don’t have to think you have a stalker to actually have one. They could be lurking. Mine was and I didn’t even know for over a year.
Em! I'm glad to see this video from you. As always, your dedication to crime content is inspiring. I treasure the dignity with which you give the victims of violence. Sending peace & love from Nashville! PS I heard you're a new mommy again! Splendid news!!❤️
Hi Emma. Rob here from nz. love your show watch every week. Listen every week. Along with Molly, elanor and Annie Eloise. Your My favourite 😁
Absolutely love your channel the research the compassion you put into every case is commendable
Oh my gosh! I’m from the Ryedale/Malton area and know this case so well. I know someone who had some interesting evidence. This person was dismissed by the police because they have mental health issues. Makes me so upset!
@emma Kenny I really hate unsolved cases to me it's injustice, I really hope it gets solved soon, scary and sad
Hi friend 🥰😊
@@jeanettehinds4253 hi 😘
Well presented and researched
Emma u are such a beautiful soul helping people not be forgotten
Emma, I love the deep dives into all the cases you cover! RIP Claudia and dad!❤
Heart breaking you have talked about this so elequently, bless you rip Claudia and her papa xxx
I reckon it’s a local guy that she knew, maybe from school or work etc that had a bit of a crush on her but also knew the feeling wasn’t mutual and this admiring from a far turned into an obsession that sadly turned into something more dark and sinister, leading him to believing that if he can’t have her nobody will. So he planned to meet, kidnap, r word her and end her life. His mindset is prob of that of an incel, shy loner type, tall and slim not very masculine, average looking, low self esteem, most likely to be unemployed. Lives at home still and sometimes drives parents car.
Wow you're not a real life "cracker" detective are you? That was a pretty good summary I must admit 👍
It wasn't just one guy who was a loner incel, as you put it; it's believed by the police and locals that two people were involved in her murder. I obviously can't name them here, but if you do some digging, you will come across them both, who have already been arrested, but unfortunately, there's not enough solid evidence for the police to charge.
@@ben597 I think you did it Ben
@@LeTon75 Well that would have been quite something considering I was 12 years old in 2009 and lived nowhere near York but sure let's indulge your fantasy and say it was me

So glad you're doing this one and am so surprised you haven't already. I don't know why I feel police are 1 step away or feel they know who has hurt Claudia but not enough evidence. I really hope for all involved this be solved one day ❤
Her heart broken dad only ever wanted to know what happened and sadly he died not many years ago and still had no answers
Thank you for this respectful video about Claudia Lawrence. It is such a sad story. I hope the crime is solved soon.❤
I was visiting York only a few days after she disappeared. Her missing posters were everywhere, and her family and friends were handing out flyers. It's so sad to think just how long ago that was
Thank-you for all the hard work you do. You are my favorite you tuber.
This one still baffles me since it happened. Thank you for covering this one Em. We all know the killer will watch this. I hope your warning made him/her uncomfortable. They will find them soon 👏
I can't wait for that podcast cheers emma❤
If the CPS decide to prosecute and spend a lot of time and money prosecuting, but lose the case, the murderer goes free. It used to be the case that nobody could be prosecuted a second time for the same offence. The law was changed relatively recently so that someone can be prosecuted again, but only where important new evidence has come to light.
As a missing person myself, this made me cry. I look forward to meeting my real family soon. 😢
We actually don’t know that she slept at her home that night. The dishes could have been from her supper. She could have been picked up after she spoke to her mother.
It was suggested she may of been meeting the man she was with the night before on the evening she disappeared.
I definitely think she knew her killer and was coaxed out that led to her murder.
I always felt so sad for her father he did so much to try and find her god bless him.
I don't usually like the unsolved cases because I like to know the person was caught so I don't watch them on any other channel but Emma, you have such a gift for bringing these types of cases to life and making it so relevant and new in people's minds. Thank you for that, Claudia's family must be so grateful to you and proud of the job you did here. 🥰
Thanks Emma. I really hope this gets solved.
So glad your covering this case Emma, I too believe Christopher halliwell has some connection to
Claudia’s disappearance as well as others. I’m from Swindon so know the case of Sian and Becky well so would love you to cover the case of halliwell
Just started watching. Emma i Hope you and your family are doing well and happy.
Claudia’s poor family! Never knowing what happened to your loved-one must be torture! 😔
Thank you~
Also, I love your cat! Thank you for sharing your furbaby, Emma!
You’re such a legend Emma.
I’m from york so this story hits real close to home. I always think about Claudia and wonder if she will ever be found, and what happened to her. Rest in peace

Emma you are such an adorable person I feel like I know you personally such a great personality trait to leave people feeling this way! Such care and concern for all your cases a pleasure to watch and listen too !! Poor Claudia anyone that just disappears cant have gone anywhere good 😥 I think this will never be solved now such a shame 😢
Thank you for this Emma! With reference to the not replying to her friend I'm terrible for replying to text messages! Even if I'd have remembered at 5am I'd be worried about disturbing them so maybe Claudia felt the same and had planned on replying later?
Finally made it back to a premier!! I’m ready I’m ready I’m ready
Welcome happy Wednesday Night with rocking Emma! I always enjoy your stories
I remember this so well as I like less than an hour away from York! Beautiful place
Hi em. I have a case for you that I would love your input to. It happened in the little village I live in. Llanharry in 1993. A double murder of an elderly couple. Harry & Megan Tooze! It was covered on September’s crime watch in 1993. The daughter’s boyfriend Jonathan something was convicted of it & on appeal the conviction was squashed. But it never seems to have been looked at again. You know wot little villages are like, there are rumours. Esp who stole their gun a year earlier. Anyways thank you ❤ xx
I love the new shirt! I am going to have to buy this! The second UA-cam merch I've ever bought 😮
Looking forward to this x
What a sad case. I truly hope some information comes out that leads to her discovery. I can't imagine being the mother of a child who has gone missing and just never knowing what happened to your child.
I’m from york and this happened round the corner from where she lived. To drive past her house now is still very strange x
Seems like a nice quiet area Jad3 what a nice place you live …… very narrow road her house is on so anything happening at any time would have been seen by someone you would have thought
Thank you Emma!
This case is very close to my heart it's so sad how her father was trying to find her and unfortunately passed away not knowing where she was and what happened
I missed this Emma, I was busy throwing stuff out and giving belongings away that I don’t need. It is very therapeutic, this has been going on for 7 months. Quite enjoying myself, finding music I like, spending loads of time with my husky. Then finding out how my neighbour and friend saw me/see me has made me recognise I was in a controlling and coercive relationship. I thought it was all me. 😅. I took my 50% of the blame and his. I refuse to Comply. Ever had a conversation whereby you say the sky is blue and the grass is green and by the end to stop the fighting you just agree.❤❤❤❤
Its amazing that no links or positive evidence has turned up, my thoughts with Claudia and family. one thing i wondered after watching this episode that no mention that it could be a female responsible who found out about the relathionship that Claudia had with a man in a relationship. im not looking for a reaction it is just a thought.
Hi from Bradford hope you Emma and ur family are doing great x😢😢😊😊
I was listening to this whilst driving & thought there was an issue with my car until I realised it was the cat! 🤣
So much love between you and Chase Emma. ❤
Still such a mystery. Vanished without a trace. Btw your cat is beautiful. And such a character. He clearly loves you.
Thank you Emma for covering this case. I have seen many comments asking for it so I was hoping you would. I watched an old crimewatch episode on UA-cam just over a month ago and it had Claudia's case. I felt so very sad for her family 😢 On another note I couldn't stop laughing when you called alcohol devils juice jam 😂😂 I may have to use this on a regular 😂
So sad! Thank you for always covering stories to the best of your ability and getting the victims stories out there ….could you please cover the Ken and Barbie killers from Canada …Paul Bernardo and Karla homolka
I love how your cat looks so comfy with you. And he matches your hair.
One thing that comes to mind for me is the garage that she took her car to. There must have been a conversation regarding her getting to work the next morning. Did someone from the garage offer to pick her up? Did they possibly take it apon themselves to just go and pick her up? Did she take the ride because they were "familiar"? The garage was just around the corner from her home as the back of her garden was at the back of the garage wasn't it ? Was there a gate to the garage from that back alley? Also, the video of the person walking out from behind her house, someone must recognise that walk and how they carry themselves. I just can't believe nobody has been caught yet.
Hi Emma, excellent upload a good balanced overview of the case. Have you ever looked at the Suzy Lamplugh disappearance? I have researched this case a lot and would be interested in your view on this baffling case.
I always felt it was bad how she was portrayed and totally agree with your point of view, I wish that the truth could be discovered.
Her family is just amazing! So strong 😢
This is such a sad case. Thanks for covering it so well, Emma. I think Claudia could be one of Christopher Halliwell’s victims.
The tired ole rhetoric of victim blaming women is nauseating, honestly. Not just in this case, but on the whole. Claudia deserves justice and her family deserve closure.
It's not victim blaming it's about personal responsibility. I've lived in countries that would be quite tough on "westerners", Nigeria, Honduras and Colombia to name a few. Colombians have a saying "no dar papaya" meaning "don't give papaya" ie don't put yourself in a position that's going to get you into trouble. You can't control what other people do, you can control what you do however, it's up to you to keep yourself safe. This is just common sense, or was up until a few years ago. This isn't meant to be deliberately controversial, but even this country is not as safe as it was 10-20 years ago. Calling it victim blaming is lazy and dismissive. In an ideal world yes we could go where we like without fear of anything happening. Unfortunately that isn't reality of the world we live in, you may not like that fact but we are where we are. Don't rely on other people keeping you safe, rely on yourself. Read situations and if something feels off don't hang about.
@AlexP12526 No, this is just differently worded victim blaming. Women should be able to take a walk to work without being abducted and murdered. Full stop. We should be able to reject a man's advances without being assaulted, raped, or murdered. Women should be able to walk their dog without being murdered, or break up with a partner without them stalking and killing them. All of these things have happened, and continue to happen, Emma has covered all of them. These are normal activities that we should be able to safely engage in. Women constantly have to make risk assessments every time we leave the house, and we do it almost without a second thought. We can't account for every predator, by by god we try. I've seen you reply to a number of things in equal measure, by shoving the weight of vile deeds back on the victims, when the real common denominators here are violent and heinous human beings who just happen to mostly be men.
