I have a 2018 Suzuki SV650. People often speak about lack of back pressure with the shorty. So I removed the OEM exhaust from the header and ran about 50 miles like that. The average fuel consumption dropped to 46 mpg. I then installed the Radiant slip on with the baffle they sell and rode the bike back up to 53.4 mpg which is where it was. I think the biggest contributing factor is that the catalytic converter provides the lion's share of back pressure. To me it sounds great on shift roll-offs and engine breaking.
Bro. I just bought one of these. There were none made for an sv650x 2019 but I just said screw it. Maybe the 2002-2009 sv650 size will fit. But it came in and it didn’t fit. Do you mind sending me the link for the one that you ordered cause the size I bought was way too big. 🤙
@@Mr_everything10 I forgot the size offhand but it was 38 or 39 mm. The way I got the right fit was to buy a digital caliper on Amazon for about 15 bucks. Then I measured it 4 ways around the header pipe and averaged it out. You want to get the pipe that fits over the header as opposed to inside. Now, the manufacturer has a bit of a tolerance between these microfine pipe sizes in millimeters. That's why I measured the header all the way around making sure the calipers were square on the pipe. And the caliper will never go to waste! Hope that helps!
It took the edge off the obnoxiously loud bark when accelerating. I would say though that it softened the sound without removing the aggressive notes imo..... does that make sense?
Hey dude, I jus watched your video and found it very useful: thank you. It took care of some of questions that I had and am feeling better about going the same route. One Q though: did you need to cut the length of the baffle though? Am thinking about leaving it at 20cm and the extra length would fit into the downpipe of the exhaust. Just checking if you tried this and maybe there was something stopping you from doing it, that I haven't thought of.
To be fair I didn't try that! It might work, I'd say try it before cutting and if you do cut the baffle use a grinder or similar powered cutting machine and DO NOT use a hacksaw.....such a ball ache! 😆
@@hectorvelilla2222 I did try it and the full length did fit. It was nice and loud but ended up going for the V&H as I think they give better overall sound
There's plenty on YT already and to be fair they never give you a good idea of the actual sound. Just wanted to give people cheap alternative options on baffles.
@@jonnyfications blisters? I know, it's bloody annoying when you do any kind of heavy cutting with those things, much easier to get the grinder out, a little bit of filing and have the job done in a couple of minutes 😉 i bet your hands and fingers are gonna sting for ages now 😆 usually every time you wash your hands with degreaser, which stings badly, rather you than me 😄
@@jonnyfications the reason i watched is because I've just bought a Ninja ZX6R J1 and it came with a stupidly loud exhaust, the baffle does absolutely sweet F A so I've been researching various baffles to find out which ones work on stubbies. Bizarrely enough, the guy said that it passed it's MOT a week earlier, but from hearing it, i think he knew the guy doing it, it sounds like one of those boy racer car cans, wakes up half the neighbourhood but I have to do it to make sure it's maintained, so I'm researching how to get out of this agony 🙄 i might just keep it for tracks instead
they say the radiant pipe isnt but 105db thats got to be a lie this pipe is loud as hell i had one for my 99 gsxr 750 SRAD and i thin it had to be up there almost loud as a racefit slash imo like 120 db of loudest at the redline to me
Maybe, but if I left it longer it wouldn't fit, and there's only so much wadding you can add before it becomes too fat! Better than the radiant shorty baffle though by far!
Just bought the exact same shorty exhaust for my 2009 vstar 950. I need to tone it down , and I think this video helps alot.
The baffle and wadding are cheap, give it go. I definitely preferred the sound 👍
This will help me quite a bit . Thank you for making this video.
Love the video man my bikes obnoxiously loud so this helped allot!
I hear you brother!!! I took matters into my own hands as it was so loud. I've got stock back on for now until my new ear plugs arrive from CFG 🤣

Where did u get for the 2018 year I can’t find it for mine
@@Mr_everything10did y ever find a solution I did the same thibg
Im going to try this.ive got a AliExpress shorty exhaust with db killer i cannot remove,no bolt or screw.Too loud and no way of packing it.
I am very tempted to try this.
I wish you did a sound comparison with your baffle…
How much more quieter would you it has gotten for you?

The outro music is catchy, nice video my friend

I'd have just got the grinder out mate, simple, quick and effective 😉 a hacksaw??? I bet that was expensive, how many blades did you go through? 😆
🤣 A couple and my hands weren't the same for days!!

Yeah, maybe I should buy a grinder!

Have you noticed any back pressure from this
No more than stock, I would say.

scientifically baffle is more about length..

offcourse it's crazy loud. you didnt buy a muffler, you bought a way overpriced stovepipe
To be fair it was much cheaper than the Two Brothers and Vance and Hines stovepipes, but I subdued and transformed it into a manageable beast! 🤣
