I like the idea of using VOO as a savings account!
Fractional shares helped me as a beginning investor years ago. Especially psychologically, getting into the game and not feeling left behind. Still utilize fractional especially for the high 3-4 figure stocks. Just my take on it
When investing I had success with automating my investments with fractional shares. I only buy lump sums during sell offs/bear markets

I brought 2 shares of Nvidia. Thinking of buying a third before the split. Or 2 vOO’s
I would go with the 2 VOO. Why? Use the next few weeks to hustle up as much 💰and be ready to invest in NVIDIA on June 10. After the 10-1 split, NVIDIA will be around $100 or so. VOO is your stable investment. With 2 NIVIDIA will turn to 20. Get $500 to 1k to invest in NVIDIA on June 10 you will add 5 more shares instead of the 2 you plan to get. NVIDIA is in the INFANCY stage! If it runs back to $700 per share or more and you keep investing in it for a few years, that’s 7x your 💰

The fractional shares argument doesn't make sense. If I want to invest 500 a month into nvidia why wait till I have the 1000 when I can buy 500 now, and 500 later. It allows you to dollar cost average. We need to stop looking at shares and look at money invested.

Agreed. I’ve been preaching this to my circle. $500 of NVDA is up more than $500 of AAPL regardless of having “full shares” of one. Percentage of growth doesn’t care about your shares!

Telling ppl not to buy fractions is awful advice. NVDA goes up 10% in one day. Whether I had .5 shares or 50, I made 10% anyway. Why would I miss out on growth in a stock I believe in because I don’t have $1000 that day. If you keep buying slowly, it’ll be a share or more eventually.
Facts…. Took me about a year to buy one full AMZN stock. Crazy enough after I was able to purchase the final fractional share to complete the stock, it split. I was so proud.

Trap appreciate your perspective but it is still a good idea to buy fractional shares if you cant afford the actual shares start with the fractional shares money is still money. Yes you want to advance as soon as you can afford to buy whole shares and learn to level up quicker.

I never really understood why they would allow someone to buy a fraction of a share. I'm a income investor and it makes no sense to me to receive a fraction of a dividend. Plus if your reinvesting dividends your already paying for a fractional share. Well the company is paying for you to have a fractional share until those dividends add up to pay for itself. But to each is own I ain't hating just not my forte if you know what I mean.

@@SirGenesis206 if your spending 500$ then you can afford to purchase one full share of apple. Which give you partial ownership of apple due to the 1 share purchased. If you buy a fractional share of Apple say 10$ of the apple stock thorough one of those fractional shares brokerage accounts then the % of the fraction you own is less. Best way i can put it since I'm an income investor. Is when I buy a full share of a company then I get the full dividend annually and qauterly. If a stock pay for example 1 cent per share i were to buy a fractional share then my dividend payments from the fractional share becomes like 10th of 1 cent for your fractional share. What the hell you gone do with a a piece of a penny not a damn thing. So in hindsight your wasting your money buying fractional shares for this example specifically you would need 10 10ths of that 1 cent from that fractional share to recieve the full 1 cent dividend. Now I don't know how it works for traders and people who do puts and options but when you start to break it down for all investor to buy a fraction of something is a waste of money it doesn't benefit the investor despite what info is laid out. You wouldn't go to a new car lot and ask to buy just the steering wheel from the vehicle or just the gas peddle. You wouldn't accept your full time job to tell you "hey we know you worked 40hrs this week but we're going to write you a check for 15 hrs this week" would you hell know it'll probably be your last day lol. So why accept it with your investing. If Your trying to build generational wealth then why would you want your wealth to come a fraction at a time?
