My cat and I talk to each other all the time. 2 weeks ago I lost my other cat. Now it is just Annie and me. She's talking to me even more now and we are both getting over our loss. Annie is an elderly cat at almost 19 years old. She got more vocal as she got older. If she wanders around the house at night and gets disoriented she will meow out loud and I'll answer her and it helps her find her way back to the bedroom. Then she'll jump on the bed and snuggle knowing she is safe and cared for. If she wants to eat, she meows for me to feed her.
I lost 2 of my 3 cats last year, and have one little girl left. Because the older cats were very big personalities, she just went along with them. We're now slowly learning each other's language.
@@nickimontie Yes. Annie has always been extra-special. Now that it is just her and me, I won't get another cat until after she passes. She deserves my undivided attention. We are having a very special time together. She is queen of the house.
A few months ago i lost my oldest kitty (only 8!) to an extremely aggressive skin cancer 😿 He and i could instantly read each other in the deepest connection i've ever had with another living soul. Needless to say this has been devastating. The upside is i am now becoming more deeply connected to my 3 remaining original kitties. About a year and a half ago i was forced to move with my 4 neutered boys into a THRIVING cat colony. As for new kitties i've added 2 girls and 2 boys all fixed. Unfortunately that leaves 21 fertile felines frolicking (fornicating) and i'm fundless for four more months. i hopefully will start receiving my social security in June 🤞🫰!!! Meanwhile 12 beautiful kitties, 7 females and 5 males have invaded our open access home. They are all about 9 months old. Although i had no physical contact with them as kittens i have tamed most, but not all of them. It's so much harder when you don't get them young, but it IS possible. i have no doubt that i'm infected with Crazy Cat person disease. Well i've gone way off topic, but it seems my feline overlords like it this way! i'm sorry for YOUR loss and grateful for You bonding more deeply with YOUR fur baby !:-) 😻🙏💜⚡
Yes I used to have 7 cats, each one of them were loved and I gave them all so much love each. I miss all those who have passed. .My two who are still with me are so precious I adore them with even heart beat. They are more important to me than anyone or anything xxx
I finally figured out that a kitten cry in the morning makes my cat jump onto my bed to see me. That only took 7 years to figure out, lmao. She does actually understand the word "canned", meaning her canned food, "treat", "harness", since she knows that means we're going somewhere, and "sibling".
My eldest cat just crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday. She wasn't the most affectionate cat but we always communicated well. When she wanted attention she would come to me and I'd give her all the lovin's she wanted. Never fought against getting a nail trim either. My 6 year old cat and I are in a new adjustment period now but he's always been a mama's boy so I think he'll be ok.
I had a cat for over 20 years. I always thought that we could understand each other. We had great bunting sessions. I have had my present cat for about 6 months. We have a pretty good relationship, but we still need to get to know each other more.
I read somewhere that cats have a 400 word vocabulary (dogs, about 180 words). I don’t know if it’s true, but my two cats do seem to understand me pretty well, and I speak “cat” pretty well. My dog understands food words and things like “”wanna go out?” the best. Ours is a talkative household and I love it! Thanks for all of the wonderful videos, Purring Journal!
I've trained all of my cats to stay off tables and counters with a firm, "Off". It usually takes 2 or 3 times before they get it. Since I never use that word or tone in any other circumstance, they know what is off limits.
My brother passed in April. I have inherited his cat Charlie. He is a very large cream color with chocolate ears and blue eyes that are crossed. He was the only cat at my brother’s house, He hid under their bed most of the time, but here he is around 3 other cats. He seems so much happier here. He chose one of my cats as his best bud. When the lights go out at night, they chase each other through the house. He’s very aloof with me. He’s warming up though as he learns our daily routine. Since he has crossed eyes, I don’t know how well he sees. He’s beautiful. I could look,at him all day. But I wonder about his eyesight.
I have had a blind cat since he was born. He's learned his way around the house and responses to our voices. Charlie might need some time to acclimate to his new surroundings. It will happen. God bless you for taking care of Charlie.
I had a cross-eyed cat. He got around just fine. He had trouble seeing things directly in front of him but was amazing when he chased a toy on the floor. His vision was so good there--much better than my other cats. His name was Falstaff, and he was a sweet, gentle boy
I talk to my cats and dogs all of the time. I talk to them as if I was talking to a small child.. Cats are very smart creatures. We humans do not give them credit for hiw smart they truly are. Shared this video on facebook 😊😊
Io spesso rivolgo complimenti e parole affettuose al mio Leo, sempre con lo stesso tono di voce..e penso che gradisca e mi comprenda Così cambio tono quando fa' cose che non dovrebbe fare ..ma non alzo mai la voce 😊
My bobtail understands certain words like the sentence “the baby (puppy) doesn’t need this.” And will hide certain objects so puppy can’t find them or will trade puppy for something the puppy can have and then go hide the object puppy can’t have. I’ve never had such an intelligent cat b4.
Cats will also touch you with their tails as a greeting. While there is a scent marking gland at the base of the tail, when a cat touches you with any of the rest of it, they are likewise showing their comfort with you. =^[.]^=
My Tabby girl Nellie associates the word "birdie" in a higher pitched voice. She immediately jumps on to the window sill to see the birds Also come here and are you cute. And her name. Are you cute results in rolling over and waving paws. She totally refuses to eat a treat of any type. I have done the head butting and slow blinks.
My son has a cat who stares at Chris often. Chris will talk to him like they're having a real conversation. It's quite entertaining to watch them. Ozzy also gives him dirty looks, and Chris will talk to him about that. He adores Chris, which is good because Chris doesn't have but a couple of friends. (Chis is 44) Ozzy's a hoot!
Oh how my Sas can talk. She is a Manx Tortie & my husband & I talk to her & she talks back. She understands so much from treats; we will be right back; let’s go to bed, snacky snack, belly rub…….the list is endless. She will be 4 yo in April & we’ve had her from birth. She also plays fetch. She is so spoiled, we love her & are blessed with her everyday antics & entertainment 😊❤️
I’ve had my short hair tabby for 11 years and I still do not have her figured out. Just when I think I’m making headway, she goes into elderly cat stage and everything about her has changed. I took her to 3 vets … $1400 … just to find out on my own that she is getting older. She doesn’t require as much food, she doesn’t go outside as often, spends a lot of time meowing at me, it goes on and on. So now I am back to square one with her. lol. I am normally home with her all day. When I have to leave the house, it no more than 5-6 hours. So she is never neglected. She has trained me very well. Every time she meows, I get up and let her show me what she wants … usually it’s just a treat. One time, we had some hurricane damage and she kept meowing over and over and I followed her outside … she wanted to show me that part of our fence was down. She walked over to it and looked at me and I bent down to give her pets and told her good girl. She responds to that very well. She does have adhd however. When we play, it lasts for about one minute or less and she starts grooming herself or she runs away. She comes back in 10 minutes and wants to play again. Same thing happens. I’ve tried different toys, same outcome. She’s this way with everything though … eating, sleeping, biscuit making, everything. She can’t stay focused, which drives her mama crazy. lol.
After hearing these tips, do you think you can “speak cat”? 🐈
Yes definitely! 🐈 My cat Baby is my best friend.💞
The only one I actually did before is the head bumping

I love my cat thank you for this ps I gave you the first like 👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿
When he said “ do you wanna treat “ in his normal voice I thought he might say that again in his high excited voice 😅

I'm lucky that my cat understands me. He was a rescue they found Nov. 2022. We got him last June.
My cat has some very serious conversations with my daughter.

This was exactly what my adult son and I were recently talking about. Definitely sharing this video with him!

The way to speak to a cat: Expect your cat being the more intelligent person in the conversation and behave accordingly.

I talk to my cat in baby talk. I've been doing it since she was a baby. I just can't look at her cute little face and speak normally.
