One thing nobody has discussed is gigging your favorite 4-5 watts amplifier and pick up a Fryette power station and re-amp it all the way to 100 watts if necessary. It’s quiet stage volume by default - and when you need louder than quiet stage volume, you just turn the Fryette up. All you need is the extra speaker cabinets for when you want it loud!!

I love low-watt amps. Not just for tone at low volume, but size as well. Ive got a Marshall JCM800 1w mini stack(2-10" cabs). It sounds great, and has a 0.1w setting that you can max out, and its still quite loud. Also have a benson Vinny Reverb(5w, 1x12) and a Dumble 7w ODS klone with 1x12 cab on the way. I wish more companies would do

I picked up a used fender vibro champ xd at guitar center back in like 2006 for$150. Made in china but it's still working and sounding great. I upgraded the tubes and added a weber alnico speaker and it's one of my favorite amps to play around the house. If you can find one, grab it.

I recently got my hands on a 1962 Gretsch 6150 amp. It's 5 watts, and has mind boggling tone. It has one knob & that's it. Lol Not to mention it's ridiculously loud! I said the hell with a bunch of pedals or a direct floor unit. I love this thing. Recently had it recapped and put a 15 Watt celestion in it, and it's even better. You don't need anything more, even in a band situation, except maybe a shure sm57 for the FOH.

i just picked a hiwatt hi 5 combo. I want to use as much poweramp distortion as possible so i max the power amp volume and use an attenuator to have this effect at bedroom volume levels..

I think awhile back people found out a lot of guys used those 5 watt amps while recording legendary albums and that’s why there is a craze going on. What a lot of people forget is that those guys used them in a studio while looking for specific tones. I think those amps are good for that purpose, but I wouldn’t want one for an overall play all the time amp.

What about pushing em with a fuzz or boost? Wish this video would've covered that.

The hand wiring of my Vibro Champ provides a painfully high level of honest detail (shows how bad my playing is). It is pretty cool for certain applications, though. Or if I want to move air, the Tonemaster Twin has that covered. And there are a few in betweeners that have a balanced approach/sound (Princeton, BJ w Eminence HH Speaker, etc.).

Me and my grandpa modified my Gibson GA5 LP reissue tube amp we swapped the preamp tube out for a vintage RCA 1950s 12AU7 cause I prefer clean tones like how Luther Perkins had and ever since we swapped the tube out my amplifier now sounds like a Silvertone 1300
Like how Luther used on the early Johnny Cash records that's my main amplifier and I love the compression it adds and I also use Thomastik 11 guage flatwound strings oh yeah and the amplifiers got one knob so I don't have to fiddle around with the tone it's already there when I turn it up howdy from North Carolina

I’ve got 9 or 10 amps laying around here, and believe it or not, one of the best ones was a little Vox AC4. It had such a beautiful clean, and that magic growl with the slightest provocation. I swear it would have been perfect if it had reverb on it. The lower wattage amps are just a better choice for practice or playing at home. I’ve got a 100 watt & a 65+ watts sitting here, and I can’t turn ‘‘em up over 1/4 way. The smaller amps are more than enough for me.

I have used 5 watt amps for years. They work live with good monitors if needed.

5 watt and efficient 12 inch speaker can play mic’d up with a band.

I have the little asian made 5 watt amp that was all over the youtubes a while ago and the thing is really cool. I just wanted a tube amp to fool around with but didn't have a lot of money to spend and this thing fills the bill. I highly recommend them.

You’re so right about the pedal cycle- I’m down to a wah into a 4 watt Vox. Swapped out the stock tubes for higher quality tubes and I’m done! Great channel

Do you have any electronics education? I watch half of this and decided you didn't, but am willing to be proven wrong, maybe a bad video day?
