In this video, I go through the steps and process of taking out the OEM radio in a 1991 Acura NSX and installing a Bluetooth Kenwood radio inside it.
    Science of Speed Harness: www.scienceofspeed.com/index....
This project took a lot of man-hours, but I am excited it worked out.

This was such a cool video to watch. Love the oem look with modern touches. Thanks for doing this

My pleasure. This was a hard project. Lots of frustrating moments but I did learn a lot and it works. Thank you for watching.

Super impressive work! Really cool to see new tech in an old package. The OEM Honda guy in me was dying a little through the whole process to see a healthy, near mint radio get chopped up though. 😅

Thank you and I totally understand. The internals overall are in good shape so I might find them a new home. I really love a challenge and enjoy music a ton so having access to Bluetooth is a game changer. Today I went out for the first drive, and I enjoyed jamming out.

Wow, that was a lot of work! I can see why it costs so much to have it done professionally. Hopefully, if I ever need to have that done, I can find a family member or friend to do it for me. 😁

I was a process for sure, but it is really neat to see it work at the end. 😃 I am sure your friend would help for some lasagna. LOL

Thank you so much for this video. I did what you did except the model radio you used is not available in Australia. I used a new model Kenwood short chassis Kwdkmmbt408.
This unit fits very nicely in the gutted casing. No cutting away the back of the radio housing. The wiring fits through the existing cut outs. After fitting, The right NSX radio knob can be removed to get to the usb and aux on the new radio quite easily. the left radio NSX knob is removed to access the new radio main control knob/switch, but as you say, the remote control will do all the functions of the main radio control knob. I couldn't use the magnet trick on the left as the new radio knob is too offset. To stop the NSX radio knobs from falling out ,I experimented with electrical tape and also by adding and gluing a wide rubber band around the knob so its a nice tight fit to stop the knob falling out and easily removed to access the AUX and usb, Either method works, but with Bluetooth, rarely will this knob be removed.
    Thanks again

It is comments like yours why we continue to make UA-cam videos. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your radio build with me. I wanted to give people a foundation to build on the idea since I knew some parts of my build were rudimentary and it sounds like you did that. Thank you!!!

Thank you! I love it, I get to listen to my music now. Not an easy thing to do but worth it if you do not want to pay big prices for the other alternatives.

My radio is dead for many years and I've brought it to fellow nsx owner Lars Heineken in Germany, but after replacing many things inside, he couldn't get it back to life. Maybe it's interesting to see if he could use your internals? But since my radio is eudm and yours usdm I doubt it... Good job bro! Like the work but can't see myself using it like this, always grabbing for the remote or removing the knob. Still much respecto for you ingenuity and enthusiasm (made me giggle while watching haha). Greeting from the Netherlands!

Hello! Someone bought my internals a few days after I posted the video. I was surprised about the interest in the circuit boards. I am sorry to hear about your trouble with your radio. I hear it is a common issue. There simply is not a lot of options when trying to keep the radio stock or look stock. I love music and I had to have Bluetooth in order to enjoy my music so doing my modification helped out a lot. It is a little bit of work to navigate the buttons and such, but I am getting used to it. There is a gentleman who does the full conversion with working buttons and such, but I hear it is expensive but well-earned since the amount of work it takes. I just wanted to do it myself and try it out and I am quite proud of it. Thank you for watching and appreciate the kind comments. Greeting from Colorado in the United States!

wow, that's a lot of work. The radio and speakers in my '93 is starting to have issues. Is that the only option for modern internals for the original housing? When I had a '66 Mustang, there were modern radios that bolted into the original spot with no mods. Watching this video and the Richard's stereo odyssey at LOTW is discouraging.

Hi! You can hire the #1 radio retro fit guy to do what I did but way more user friendly. I think it’s called Willmans something… but it’s pricey. Not a lot of options if you want to keep the stock face bud you can always use my video to develop your own setup. So many ways to do to.

Something I have zero interest in when I'm driving my 97. The last thing I want is tunes or extra weight. If I want 🎶 I can play my killer system at home sip single malt and drift off with the music. Something your can't do when your enjoying your NSX. But yes each to his own.

    • @DriversTherapy
      @DriversTherapy  2 роки тому

Yes! To each his own. I love the NSX and enjoy music too. I have a hard time playing music in my GT4 though...
