"...just like how when we call upon our god, they will only help us one to 20 percent of the time; and the reason, not being answered might have been the answer we actually needed." Hmm, that's actually fairly thoughtful and somewhat profound, no joke. Duke either pretended not to understand it or was both smart enough to (unintentionally) make the observation but also not quite intelligent enough to know how much sense it makes.
I personally say the god not answering is basically them saying, "My child, you need not of my aid, for you already have the means to victory at your disposal.... USE THAT BRAIN I GAVE YOU DUMB@$$!!!"
Oh my word.... those Clerics are more like close friends than anything else, even if they don't agree with each other's teachings. Also, they both totally agree upon dissing the ranger... why is this? Kinda sad 2024 got nerfed with less options though... can't wait to see the Wizards' thoughts on this. Love how the two of them are just purely poetic. ...most of the time. What happened to give 2014 that much trauma?
> "Why do they agree on dissing Ranger?" Probably because Ranger is absolutely pathetic. Everything they can do, other classes can do so much better. Everything they can't do completely kneecaps them. The only reason Ranger is still relevant is because the community loves to make fun of how bad he is. Also because Gloomstalker makes 2014 Ranger downright busted
Cleric did not get nerfed. The main class and the remainig subclasses are comparable probably better because the fixes from Tashas got ported over and they fixed some stuff like trickery and channel divinity. And it does not have less subclass options. You can still play all the 2014 subclasses that were not reprinted. Knowledge was already great, especially in a very roleplay exploratory focused campaign, and did not need a major update imo and even the other ones from the PHB will not be completely outperformed in a 2024 game because the base class is excellent. It is so much better to have a few distinctive subclasses for each class than a bunch for one and only 2 options for others.
I honestly think it would've made more sense for all subclasses to be unlocked at level 1 rather than at level 3. There were good reasons why cleric, warlock and sorcerer got their subclasses at level 1, whereas I can't think of a reason why the other classes needed to obtain their subclasses later.
@@IgnavumFortunaexactly what you said. I can see an argument for L2 but honestly for new players L2 also seems too soon. They do have a note somewhere in the PHB suggesting that veteran players start at L3 though. I personally do like the change to Clerics and Sorcerers as someone who does a lot of Newbie Nights and games for new players. Allowing them to learn the base class before they need to choose as subclass is pretty helpful
@@IgnavumFortuna Yeah. They're trying to make the game easier to learn. They want to be able to say "Did you find it too intimidating to play a level 1 cleric when you tried D&D during the 2020 lockdown? Well now we've made it much easier for you to learn, without sacrificing the long-term depth of the game!" There is also an element of balance (which is why each class now has four subclasses, and is also why they experimented with a standardized subclass progression during playtesting.)
I can see some like the rogue they are getting better at their craft i know the artificer isn't in 2024 should have been but before three they are trying to figure out what they are good at or what they want to make. The bard is getting used to their instruments. Then unlocks power with it now that they have mastered it.

Watching this video made me look at the new Cleric, especially the War Domain. The new Steel Wind Strike IS THE MOST ANIME SWORD TECHNIQUE IN THE GAME.
I mainly play Cleric (because no one else ever has the Holy BALLS to want to be the healer) and this debate is pretty accurate: Even with different faiths and teachings, the party would be F@$KED without any divine guidance at all.
Life domain? I'm not here to heal you, you want heals bring potions. I am here for two reasons and two reasons only, to kick ass and turn undead, and I'm all out of undead.
where's the Twilight domain? I love that one for the temp hit points and clearing of Fear/Charm just by ending your turn in my aura... oh, and the flight is pretty damn awesome too 😁
Corona of Light used to be a lot more generous. There was no limit on how many times we could use the feature and affected the saving throws on every spell dealing fire or radiant damage, not just yours.
I think the biggest benefits of the new Divine Intervention, outside of the consistency, are that you can select any spell on the Cleric List to cast, and do so without Material Components. First part is great for spells like Zone Of Truth that are incredibly powerful but a bit too niche to feel worth it on your Prepared Spell list, while the secind part is great since Cleric's better healing spells like Greater Restoration are famously expensive to cast.
both clerics are great IMO in their own ways. i don't really like changing the subclass picking thing from level 1 to level 3, but other than that i love the new rules and will gladly play the new cleric one day, right now i'm playing 2014 life cleric and having a blast
Currently playing 2014 grave cleric myself. I'm a fantastic yoyo healer! ...or I would be if myself and the paladin weren't sharing tanking duties because the party keeps stumbling face first into small armies.
For destroy vs. sear undead difference, it is probably due to simplification. Instead of DM and player having to research the challenge rating of undead, it’s now numbers based.
Non-cleric players taking the fun out of cleric for ten years strong 😅 I cannot wrap my head around level 3 subclass selection. Like for 2 levels you have an intense enough devotion to access literal magic, but it’s just faith to…whatevs. But then at level 3 you’re suddenly like “Oh that’s right, illusion is a big deal to my faith, I just remembered. For all these cleric and warlock folks who say it makes no narrative sense to pick a god/patron until later, I have a thought I think there's a group of people who might be interested in roleplaying the fateful day where they first encounter their higher power. Starting at level one makes sense for those campaigns. For everyone else, treating level three as "the new level one" might be the way to go Not elegant, but maybe opens the doors to explore different types of stories/incorporate backstory into the campaign
