      Thanks William but everyone is saying it smells of a old penny!!!!! I’m just glad these young bucks didn’t work on the construction site back in the day!!!! These guys are always talking about the knife hurting in the hand!!!!! Wow I used to jackhammer most of the day a lot of times and shoveling the Calais on my hands used to bleed!!!!!! How can a knife be uncomfortable I’m hand lol it’s funny it’s just my opinion thanks William stay well buddy

      @@jerseyknifeguy6382 Yeah, I never understood the smell thing. Copper is actually antimicrobial, so it kills germs. May smell bad 👃 but it's actually cleaner than the hand holding it.😆

    Hey Stuart I think it’s about time I started learning about steels and metals!!!!! I do get it for the most part I’m just not that concerned with the metals except on my fixed blades then it becomes something all together different…… for the most part there is nothing I can’t do as a light use pocket knife…… I guess there’s guys that need that heavy duty steel!!!!! Almost 80% of my knives are in 1095 01 tool steel and tru-sharp stainless….. it was always nothing I wasn’t concerned with because the knife I buy are mostly softer steels…… I’m a traditional knife guy and only modern traditionals are you going to get the higher end steels!!!!! I’m just not a steel nerd!!!!!! Thanks Stuart……. How important is it to you to have these super steels on your pocket knives!!!!!! Stay well Stuart give Freddie kisses for me

      @@stuartharvey2523 that’s exactly right that’s all the same knifes I use!!!!! Back in the day that’s all I carried was utility knives and to be honest with you I still like them….. and they have some good ones out there nowadays!!!!! Anyway I’m 50 years old and the steels I used were fine with me I’ll take VG10 and 440c and 154cm there the steels I’m used to!!!! Why do I need these steels that can cut through a brick!!!! What does it do showing these test where your beatin the snot out of the knife and saying it held up!!!!!! Maybe on the outside it looks good but that knife is highly fatigued!!!!! These guys are just wrecking perfectly good knives!!!!!!

    Very well said on the blade steels. I have bunch of knives with 1095, AUS8, 440C and D2. All cuts good and I have no issues sharpening them. On the other side I have a ZT with Elmax steel and I don’t use it at all because I just can’t get a razor sharp edge on it. The “so called” lower end steels are easy to sharpen and I can get razor sharp edge on them. Good review my friend. I have the Culpepper but not the slip joint version. Don’t know the lock type from my had but it’s same looking Culpepper like yours but with the blade tightening bolt and open pillar construction. Subscribed to your channel 👍🏻

    I personally love copper and the feel it gives most knifes. Now something like a PM2 with full copper gets a bit heavy but on most decent size knifes it gives it a good hefty premium feel.

    I just bought the SMKW exclusive kershaw Culpepper and Highball Xl on sale. I use a few polishing compounds myself, case paste, mothers,, flitz and neverdull. Some work better then others but case paste is fantastic for shining up my traditionals. I typically use it as a finishing polish. I maybe burned out of D2 but I would still take it over 440/420, AUS-8, and name your CR MOV. I wouldn't mind seeing this knife in VG10 or even stepping up into a S30V or S35/45VN but if they have to keep the price then VG10 for sure.

    The only problem with D2 is the heat treatment of the steel.
    D2 should always be annealed after forging. Heat slowly to 1550°-1600°F, hold until entire mass is heated through, and cool slowly in the furnace (40°F per hour) to about 1000°F, after which cooling rate may be increased.
    Some companies were not heat treating properly or at all, and the steel didn't perform like D2, it was soft. I think most shady companies got their act together after people started calling them out about their D2. It's a fine steel if done properly. It should Rockwell between 54 and the low 60's if heat treated properly from my understanding. I'm no expert, but I can tell the difference between D2 done right, and done wrong, just by sharpening.

    • @jerseyknifeguy6382
      @jerseyknifeguy6382  2 роки тому +1

      I don’t know too much about all that when it comes to steels all I know is all my knives are mostly soft steels that’s what traditional knives mostly come in!!!!! Anyway they been holding up great for me all these years!!!!! Maybe I’m not thumping on it hard enough

      @@jerseyknifeguy6382 if it works, it works. The only time I ever dulled a knife in a days work was cutting fiberglass board. That stuff is tough on a knife edge. I didn't use my own knife on fiberglass, I used the company issue knife with steel so soft you can easily sharpen it up on concrete or a brick.

    I think people know how to greive, Pete. Be it over an animal or human. EVERYONE has been through this type of thing multiple times and there is no handy guide book or youtube channel on the subject. Not to sound harsh but you need to handle your business like an adult and stop bringing it up video after video. I told you you the story about my son. If I can do that in private with telling the world you can do the same with your dog. In fact I never mentioned it to anyone outside my family until I told you last week in a video response. Good luck, Pete.

    I have to disagree about the weight. 4.5 ounces for this bruiser. I own one and I carry it, but the weight definitely keeps it from being every day. And I'll disagree about the jimping. Maybe your example is different, but to be honest, my jimping sucks.
    Also, Benchmade loved using 154CM on everything. Pro-Tech still does, for the most part.
    And this isn't an exclusive to Blade HQ, it's Smoky Mountain Knife Works that you can find it at.
