- Europe's Most Underrated City? 🇱🇹
Welcome back to yet another travel video on the channel, today we are in Kaunas, Lithuania and we're going to be exploring Europe's Most Underrated City! This was an incredible first day exploring Kaunas and I really, really love this city and definitely think its one of the most underrated since no one ever talks of Lithuania, nevermind Kaunas in comparison to other touristic destinations! Hope you enjoy!
#lithuania #vilnius #kaunas
I went to Kaunas this year, had only a couple of hours but enjoyed that time a lot. The city is enormously walkable and peaceful. This enables you to admire and discover its beauty. Highly recommend to go there!
The city is so walkable it’s incredible! Definitely up there in the most walkable cities I’ve ever visited, there’s dogs and families everywhere it’s such a layed back beautiful vibe!!

Kaunas is like this because no inhabitants from the sands came to it...
@@JonesTravelsssyeah it is
💛💚♥️ I was born in Kaunas city, thanks for beautiful and interesting video❗ 🏀 🇱🇹❤️🇺🇦
Totally agree with you. Lithuania and Kaunas are hugely underrated. I'm actually in Kaunas now for a few days
Great to be back!!
Vilnius and Kaunas are my favorite cities outside of Poland. Great vibe, You can feel that it was a superpower before (P-L Commonwealth). Great, peaceful and beautiful. Great People and food :) So sveiki ir iki pasimatymo dar karta! :D I will definitely go there again (I haven't been since covid).
How can your feel ot was a superpower?
Yey,my beautiful Kaunas ❤thanks for such a nice video. Please do come back in summer time ,it's so green and even more walkable😊.
Show us more Lithuania! Nice video, bro
30:17 translates "For those who died for the freedom of Lithuania"
I lived in Kaunas for 4 years, and now live in Vilnius for around 4 years as well. In many aspects, I miss Kaunas, but while I wouldn't want to go back, it does have a special place in my heart. There's something very peaceful about this city.
Kaunas is the Art Deco gem of the world. It is the real sparkling diamond (sapphire, emerald or ruby) in the crown of Europe.
Been to Kaunas a few times. Really appreciate how walkable the city is and the cheap public transport as well!
My beautiful city Kaunas. Greetings from Sydney, Australia
Labas!!! Kaunas is gorgeous and me and my wife plan on moving there. It's her home town.
Cool video, just one little thing : Lithuanians are only religious on paper, it's common to get baptised into the catholic church, even get married in a church, but most people do not observe and go to the church on the biggest holidays of the year if that. I am glad you enjoyed Kaunas :)
It depends. Our family iš religious
Nepersistenkime su apibendrinimais, profesoriau...
I'd love to visit the Baltic countries. Cheers from Quebec
You should I’m loving it so far! Look forward to visiting Canada at some point!!
Hi there! How are Quebecy ? I just left Montreal, CA back to Wisconsin, US .. A friend of mine lives there.. Went for fishing and hunting.. and beautiful country sides.. Just had a nice time! 🇱🇹🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️👋
Tadas Ivanauskas museum is so cool❤
In case you did not already look up, or if someone in the comments was wondering, this is a summary about the statue mentioned on 21:07
The sculpture "A Person" (or "Žmogus" in Lithuanian) by Petras Mazūras in Kaunas has become a symbol of the city's culture. Located at the premises of Mykolo Žilinsko Art Gallery, the artwork evokes ancient traditions with its portrayal of a naked figure, this was chosen due to the architect of the Mykolo Žilinsko Art Gallery envisioning the gallery's architecture as somewhat reminiscent of an 'ancient sanctuary' or generally having a 'historical look', despite it being relatively modern (built/renovated in 1986). Initially controversial, it was at some point criticized as pornographic, but today, it is embraced by locals and even celebrated with playful events, as the general premises are filled with people, especially on summer days, accompanied with multiple restaurants, clubs, restobars and bars nearby. The sculpture, created in 1986, is now an integral part of the gallery’s identity and Kaunas' cultural landscape. It represents the changing attitudes towards art and public space in the city.
If you ever come back to visit Kaunas, or Vilnius (also recommend Klaipeda, the main port-city of Lithuania), don't hesitate to get in touch, I would be more than happy to show you around and tell some awesome stories and interesting facts, also, would not allow you to miss so many things like you probably did in your solo visit to Kaunas! 😃
UA-cam recomended, and my new favourite channel ! I was born in Kaunas and live in UK for past 14y, Have fun with your travels and lets push for more Subs well deserved!
Watching this from Kaunas😃
You should come back to Lithuania in the Future. Kaunas is Definitely underrated as well as your channel
Greetings from USA ,stay warm ,very easy to get cold especially when wind is going through your bones.
Thank you for visiting our city 😊
Visiting Kaunas and Vilnius in May so your videos have gave me a good insight into what to see and do thank you. good luck with the channel 😀
I love your vlogging style, great video
Thank you so much!!
I also recomend you to visit outskirts of Riga in Latvia as it is very good and buetefull and great as a place which is much recommended in summer!😊
Please visit the country in spring or summer, because the cold seasons are extremely depressing looking!
You came there at the probably worst time lol :) early winter and construction on the main square. but it is still super nice
Don't think so. He could've come when all of the laisves al. or old town was under the construction :) Just city hall square is not that bad
23:14 This building is an unfinished hotel. After the restoration of independence, it was thought that a lot of tourists would come to Kaunas, so the construction of 2 hotels was started, but both were not completed. One was this one called "Britanica" and the other one near the river Nemunas, not far from this hotel, was called "Respublika". About 6 years ago, "Respublika" was demolished, now an office building has been built there. The Britanica has never been attempted to be demolished, but has been thwarted many times by various obstacles, so it will remain here for some time to come.
Current corrupt council of Kaunas is trying to extort the owners of "Britannica". Most likely to sell the land cheaply to our mayor's family. They cancelled their building permit by invoking separate voting in the council.
Nope, those unfinished hotels were started even before independence. The artifacts from soviet "planning"economy 😊
Britanika was strongly attempted to be demolished and rebuilt few years ago, but mayor of Kaunas sabotaged it, because it would have been competitor to his properties (Google Britanika rekonstrukcija ir similar)
29:05 that's a War Muzeum, it has soldier clothing, belongings and guns in there. A lot of historic things from the wars.
W vlog. Thanks for coming and doing a spotlight bro. How do you deal with awkwardness of walking around with a camera and talking into the mic?
Its funny to watch when someone explores your city, i feel how everything is new to you and exciting 😊
Kaunas is fun to live, nature is nice all around and nice to walk in modern areas, while Vilnius is fun to walk around because it gas has ass old town. I live kinda in both cities
Me and the mrs were in kaunas last month loved it, great wee funicular railway with this cool craft beer bsr kuhne it was class, loved the Architecture, Castle was brilliant
38:24 may favorite specimen from childhood, that huge lobster
13:56 "Kepyklele"- Bakery
More like " little bakery"
Its more like “little bakery” 😊 update: oh someone said it too
Nice video 👍👌 "Kepyklėlė" it means Bakery 😆
It's not that Lithuania is expensive, it's Poland being cheap. Poland is a manufacturing/agriculture country, they produce a ton of cheap products, have a huge labor base.
Dzem pub on tuesdays have the best karaoke. It's on Laisves avenue and on the 5th floor so you can see a lot of the city from the balcony. :)
Welcome to Kaunas.🤝🙂
19:32 they put new tiles (they should be way bigger in order not to crack) couple years ago and they need to renovate again
Lithuania - Kaunas 👍 🚶 🛴 🚴 🏍 🚗 🚌 🚂 ⛵ ✈
Ouch is so sad you came here in winter time... it's ugly... summer is so nice. People believe me in summer it's MUCH better! :D
Kaunas is somewhat a bit low key similar to Kyoto i dunno 😂 it has some little similar things
Have you gone to Spurginė? It's the best pastry bakery ever, you should try everything there
Kaunas is the best at summer. Winter is depressing here.
Nice video. Thank you!
There are my beautiful town where i am living now.
Ah zoo museum.. Same like 40 years ago when been with my dad😊
☝️Я тоже был в этом музее в детстве, super❗🇱🇹❤️🇺🇦
Come to Vilnius in spring time!
Nice. I mean it
Lovely city
❤Ačiū!
Hey I live here, pretty cool
I just wanted to ask one thing - are you excited?
I’m from Kaunas nice hotel mate
what did you say about kaunas and vilnius?
technically we count as northern european.
part 2 ? :)
Pfffft only two parts? Lots more coming soon :))
@@JonesTravelsss 👍👍👍
Kaunas is great but you’re in for a treat when you visit Vilnius. I love that place
U need to vistit Kaunas in summer
KAUNAS MENTIONED RAHHHHHHAHSDHYHWEDHUHWD
Definitely not cheap country 😂
you got a holiday off of work? again?
I’m a student so it’s very easy for me to do stuff like this especially for a few days :))
wtf is that thing above your upper lip lol
Nah
Visit Vilnius.
Lithuania is for Poland what Scotland is for GB.
Kind of true! Never thought that way.
Imagine for a minute: Scotland declares Independence, and England occupies Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, and 1/3 of the Scottish state. How then would the Scots view the English? Think about what makes you poles different from cultured nations?
@@arturasandriusaitis8832 Poland has NEVER occupied Lithuania. It was the Lithuanian duke Jogaila who wanted Lithuania to join Poland. That's how the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth began. By the way, I am more German-Kashubian than Polish.
@@marcinerdmann476
Your mentality is no different from the russians. The same savage liars.
@@marcinerdmann476true that, but I think he’s not talking about Commonwealth, he’s talking about occupation of Vilnius
Nothing good neither about Kaunas or Vilnius , traffic jams and fumes .
Lithuania was first at suicides, alcoholism, domestic abuse, homicides and depression rates. So it would be better if this country was just a part of Germany or Switzerland
Why then are Lithuanian youth the happiest in the world (they rank FIRST in terms of happiness in the world)?
Was some years ago but not now
Nowhere near Russian rates. So showe it where the sun don't shine Ivan.
@@UMORIEGA You obviously don't know Lithuania, I lived my whole life there.www.cambridge.org/core/services/aop-cambridge-core/content/view/22858FC4A7651DCC4A11B9C02A612AAC/S0955603600054490a.pdf/psychiatry_in_lithuania_the_highest_rate_of_suicide_in_the_world.pdf
That guy is right.. because Russian or Russian speakers can’t take .. no more Soviet Union.. We wanna send them back home.. not kill themselves.. Our country go forward, and those people live in.. Soviet Union.. They fill themselves useless.. It’s our huge problem.. Because they are out of picture in Lithuania.. They are dreaming for Soviet Union.. and worshiping us to be in Stone Age..🇱🇹🇺🇸✌️👋
Lithuania! My Homeland! You are like good health:
Only he learns how precious you are
Who has lost you. Today I am able to see - and describe in writing -
Your full beauty, precisely because I miss you.
O Holy Virgin - You who protect radiant Czestochowa,
And shine within the Gate of Dawn! You, who watch over the
Walled city of Nowogródek, with its faithful folk!
Just as you restored me to health, by a miracle, when I was but a child
(When, given over to your protection by my weeping mother,
I raised a dead eyelid,
And was immediately able to walk to the threshold of your shrine
To thank God for the life returned to me),
So too may you restore us, by a miracle, to the bosom of our Homeland.
But in the meantime, carry my longing soul
To those wooded hills, to those green meadows
That sprawl above the deep blue Neman;
To those fields, painted with grains of every kind,
Gilded with wheat, silvered with rye;
Where the amber-colored wild radish, the buckwheat white as snow,
Where the clover burns like the blush on a maiden’s cheek,
And everything is girdled, as if by a ribbon, by a boundary strip
Of green, where, here and there, sit silent pear trees.
