- Welcome back to yet another travel video from the Lithuania travel diaries! Today we are in the capital city of Lithuania which is Vilnius! This video isn’t too long but I explore the main city, the Christmas markets and head towards the three crosses overlooking the city - Hope you enjoy!
Glad you liked it 😊
Vilnius and Lithuania in general is truly underrated, and spot on that it feels like a micro Paris in some parts of the city centre. Thanks for your good vibes, come back in the summer you’ll see how alive the city is during nightlife 🫶
💛💚♥️ Thanks for this video 👍 Vilnius is amazing city❗ 🇱🇹❤️🇺🇦
Try coming to Vilnius in summer, the weather is amazing whole season here in Lithuania, lots of lakes to swim in, water entertainment spots, all the restaurants and bars are bringing tables out for people to enjoy drinks and food outside. Night life is on another level, as well as lots of various events happening, concerts and stuff. I believe you would enjoy it way more than this wet cold weather, but sure, if you were here to check out our Christmas spirit, we really love celebrating it as you can probably see! :D Not sure how much interaction you've had with residents, but can tell that most are able to communicate in english.
The Old Town of Vilnius is one of the largest surviving medieval old towns in Northern Europe, with an area of 3.59 square kilometres (887 acres). It was founded in 1387 and included as UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994.
That cannot be correct. Riga and Tallin are older and actually have a lot of medieval buildings left. Vilnius Senamiestis is larger than Riga or Tallin old town but very few buildings in it are actually medieval period(or even close). most seems to be 18th century+
@ just read history and research other channels. I didn’t create this from the air.

Learn history and don't live in the kingdom of crooked mirrors and twisted fantasy. Vilnius is a capital of Lithuania since late 13th century. It was the capital of huge empire - the Kingdom of Lithuania, later the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. That's why it has the LARGEST Old Town in Europe. It has more medieval monuments than Tallinn and Riga together. Neither Tallinn nor Riga have such world-class masterpieces as St. Anne, St. Peter and Paul Churches and the Cathedral Basilica. And all other monuments of Vilnius are masterpieces. Vilnius has all the historical European styles, except Romanesque: Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Classicism.
Kaunas, which was the temporary capital of Lithuania from 1920 to 1939, is an Art Deco gem that has no analogues in the world. There is no such Art Deco complex anywhere in the world, and in terms of the total number of these monuments, Kaunas is surpassed only by Paris.
@@karliszemitis3356 In Vilnius the old town alone is larger than the entire Riga neighborhoods of Vecpilseta and Centrs combined, lol.
What is more, there is almost nothing medieval in Riga, as half of the old city was destroyed before the WWI and a lot of new buildings were built instead between 1900 and 1914. In the 1930s even more buildings were leveled by Ulmanis, who was building department stores, administrative buildings and ministries there. Then large part of that was once an old town was bombed during the war and now only modern replicas are being built there. Only a few buildings are actually medieval in Riga. In Vilnius the number of buildings with Gothic features exceeds 400 (this includes, walls, vaults, cellars, etc.).
In Tallinn, both the Lower Old Town and the Upper Old Town combined are 5 times smaller than the Old town of Vilnius.
Get your facts straight. Only the old town in Prague is slightly larger than that of Vilnius.
@@arturass3896 Get your own facts straight. Riga Center region (3.7km2) alone is as large as Vilnius Old town (3.5km2). Also your history is a bit off, Ulmanis did not destroy that many buildings, and damage from the wars was not as big as you would expect, it was mainly next to Akmens tilts and towards the St Peters church, it was by no means levelled.
I just smell a massive bias, which is fine, but not sure that works as an argument.
I am from Vilnius and I'm really glad that you liked it. Amazing video, thank you very much! Come back in summer!
Ačiū❤ Thank you.
I'm still amazed by your positivity. Glad that you visited my country! And hope you'll be back!

Sounds great would love to next time Arthur!
Thank you! I am impressed of your attitude, which sometimes looks to me even too positive, compared to reality. Anyhow thanks a lot!
Happy that you liked it. Visit Klaipėda in summer also.
Dear Jones Traveless thank for your 100% positive moods from Lithuania. Don't forget to visit our country in 2025. Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Panevėžys Druskininkai Nida is verry cool.
Vilnius has improved a lot in a decade since I left. I think it is time to move back haha
Can it be the case that Vilnius improved a lot due to your absence?😊
@@danutebartoseviciene8496Oho, miestą galima išdabinti lemputėm, bet danučių iš jo neišimsi...
@@danutebartoseviciene8496 vilnius would have improved even more if I never left 😅
@simas941 Grannie would have been a bus if it had wheels🤣
It's sad that we have winter with no snow. Half or romance is lacking, when Christmas squares are without beautiful white
❤❤❤❤😎😎😎😎❤❤❤❤👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Well Vilnius is Western and deverloped place, not only "looks like" 😂 But glad you like it.
❤

Why you didn't go to Klaipėda city?
Because another scot went and was so lost looking for food :-)
Honestly, it is an insult to compare Kaunas and Vilnius. Vilnius is a stunning place, while Kaunas... has 1 street and rest is arguably even worse than Šiauliai.
You haven't explored Kaunas enough if you say this. 🙂 Maybe you mistook it with Daugavpils?
@@KONSOLIUS There are definitely there are nice spots here and there, but overall - not really. I have seen pretty much all of Kaunas, and I go there multiple times a month. As for Daugavpils, have only driven through there once. dont have an opinion on similarities :)
@@KONSOLIUS and not trying to offend anyone. Kaunas ir OK city, but nothing special and mostly just sad. A lot of places are. Vilnius to me is one of the best cities as a tourist to visit in Europe. It is not most characterful or interesting, but it is definitely nice.
have you ever been to kaunas for more than 3 hours? probably not, or like 10 years ago. If you have been, you wouldn't say that
Also, have you been in Vilnius outside the old town (which is indeed very beautiful)? probably not either.
@@jokubas3391 As I mentioned, I go to kaunas 2-3 times a month generally. Have walked, driven all over, seen all major and minor sites. Multiple times walked all over center and old town. I stay in vilnius for multiple days every year, and have seen neraly all of it except for the very norther part. And yes, of course, there are shittier parts, but comparision is not even close.
Thank You very much!
