Awesome! Gonna try it myself. Just bought a 2001 S60 and I love it. Not my first Volvo. And they can have some expensive issues. Sometimes the fix is surprisingly simple and cheap.
And sometimes the fixes will raid your wallet every time you go near it. I have gotten used to that is how it goes with them. I wish they were like the old square body ones that would go 300,000 miles and need nothing.
@FarpointRestorationsAndRepairs I have learned to look many things up on youtube and I watch a few videos if there available before I do a new job. It not only feels good to be able to do it but it is great if it saves me money or makes me some money.
Do you know especially what chip does job of TRIP odometer, service reminder, and gives power to lighting of the board ? I have stuck TRIP in reset and DIM gives randomly sometimes service reminder on startup even when service counter has been reseted with vida. and light bulbs are ok
@@FarpointRestorationsAndRepairs In mine, there are LEDs or whatever you call them, which are soldered to the motherboard, so the only way I can change the light is to remove the LED bulbs/diodes and find new ones with a different color and solder them on
In all practicality, you really shouldn't be using a flat-blade screwdriver for this. Instead, you should use either a trim pad tool, or a spoon-shaped seal pick. Yes, you can get these tools from an auto parts store.
Yup! This video is however aimed at the homeowner and not the mechanic. These folks are far less likely to own those specialty tools, but will likely have a screw driver.

Thank you for sharing important knowledge with us
My mechanic try to lost of many for this .
You are most welcome, some repairs are not worth paying for.
My boardcomputer doesnt work (the left corner) which should show if door is opened, and the consumption etc.... could it be a bulp???
Yup! Almost certainly is!
It's always easier when you know how the stuff comes apart.
Oh yes, it sure is. The first time it takes an hour, the 50th? Maybe 15 minutes.

The message center is shaking and dissaper for a moments, do you think so is the bulb?
Yes. I think the bulbs are failing.
@@FarpointRestorationsAndRepairs thanks 😔
What is the name of those bulbs?
I don't remember the name/model number of them. Sorry

I'm sorry, I don't. When the DIM goes wonky, we send them off for repairs.
My whole dash cuts on and off when driving....on 5 mins off 5 minutes.... speedometer and everything stops...any suggestions????
That is an internal DIM (Drivers information module) issue. You can pull it out and send it off for repairs as I recall.
What does VIDA mean in Volvo world? What’s the function
VIDA is Volvos in house software. It is just their proprietary software
My whole panel won’t show the meter and everything sometime it turn on while driving and turn off when driving slow and turn off later on
That is a failed DIM. There are companies that you can send it to for a rebuild.
What bulbs did you get? I’m seeing LED bulbs but not anything that looks like this in your hand
I can't remember the part number, but I got them on EBay.
What model is your car, and is it petrol or diesel? Because my V70 2005 Diesel does not have a way to remove the bulbs
This was XC70- gas version- I find that a bit weird that it is not serviceable.
