I implemented this feeling from using my prosndr and watching their downswing video, practised it all week and went out and shot my two best rounds this weekend, level par gross on Friday, 2 over gross yesterday. It’s amazing how consistent this makes your swing and strike. Amazing video

This video was a game changer for me! I'm not going to lie. It took me a minute to trust this would work, and sometimes, I still scratch my head in amazement. Lol... This has added effortless power and improved contact with all my irons. However, I can't seem to do this move consistently with my driver. I feel like I need to be way more patient in the downswing. Do you have any advice or drills I might try?
Thank you so much for your instruction!

This makes sense. I'm 71, so perhaps your next video can provide some drills to make this happen. Understanding this and applying it can be two different things with us old farts.

When I first started learning the swing 10 years ago, my main thought was to throw the club backwards and let it swing through a circle. I always had good contact (a little flippy though). After getting numerous instructors, I was told this was wrong. I changed and have had nightmares since. Think I'll go back to that. Good video.

Jonathan, you have helped me solve a problem I've been trying to solve for 2 years. For the longest time I've had an over-the-top motion that I can see when I record myself. It was gameable but it did cause some issues, and it rendered my driver useless at times. I've tried all sorts to get the club in the slot - dropping the hands, laying the club flat, increasing initial side bend etc - none of it felt natural or easy to consistently replicate, all because I was holding the angle in an attempt to whip the club late.
A bit of time working on this and my swing looks visibly different, staying very nicely on plane and you can see my divots are no longer pointing left. Now they're straight, if not pointing slightly right, and it feels so easy! And best of all, I've been hitting my driver well again using this! Thanks so much for releasing this and your previous video ! 🙏🙏

Very useful information. I have tried it and it certainly does help. Your image of the wheel helped me with both the backswing and especially the downswing. I have been struggling with hooks and overdraws. The new start of the backswing for me has solved or helped me to better understand what I was doing incorrectly.
Of course the driving range and playing on the golf course are two different issues. No doubt I will practice to help ingrain my new swing motion. I appreciate your demonstration and explanation.

I have been experimenting with this release for several weeks. For me, IT WORKS! I'm a full club longer with no added effort. Casting the club head 180 degrees away from the target is still a work in progress because for 60 years I've been taught to 'hold the angle'. Thanks Jonathan!

It’s almost dusk here as I watch this video, and I am sitting in my easy chair and feeling it haha! What I am picturing is pushing the butt end of the club out as far as I can with my lead hand, and that helping my lead arm stay straight, my shoulders and arms rotating together better, and helping with keeping my trail elbow unstuck from my side as I swing through. I’m looking forward to trying this!

I seem to remember seeing film of some of the old time greats and when the film was slowed down it showed the club head as a blur going out from the golfer not down. This proves the point I think and as long as the club head isn’t going on the outside it’s not casting but I’ve never seen it explained in a modern way the wheel super imposed was a help and I will try this method at the range tomorrow thanks!

This feeling helped me right away to get 20m in one week. I tried to hold the lag and hit just with bodyrotation. I didn‘t really help. With your tip i‘m releasing like hell and hitting it straight and far. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Don‘t throw your arms. Throw your wrists. At least that‘s what I have to feel.

I Tried this today at the range and it improved my driver and fairway/hybrid accuracy and distance, but not so much with my irons. I found that I was unable the physically uncock my wrists at the top during a swing without stopping. But if I used that action as a swing thought, I presume I did it to some degree because of the different outcome. Going forward I think I will physically uncock my wrists at the top in a practice swing and use the thought in the actual shot. Thank's for the tip 😊

Great concept Jonathan of using inertia away from the body for ones benefit! Yesterday, during a round of golf, I think I experienced your described feeling. In order to get a wider backswing, I turned my torso a little further, pushing my arms out more, and when I came through the ball, it was like effortless power with very long hits. I'll definitely keep working on this concept! Well Done Jonathan! Thanks for the help!

This is the way, for effortless speed. A bit like how the weight on a trebuchet gets further from the lever before it gets to maximum velocity, as the arms create more width straight from the top. Guess that's why others call it the catapult method? Hadn't thought about it affecting ground pressure in that way before either. Thanks for the great insights, really enjoying your new videos of re-thinking the golf swing, since what seemed to be your Hack Motion 'light bulb' moments last year 👍

As someone who started golf later in life and has struggled throughout the years ( even though I managed to get my handicap down to single digits) I’ve never really felt as though I truly owned my swing, which has caused me to try innumerable swing changes. I've often lamented that I wish I had started to play the game as a youngster, as it seems the very best players ( at least at my club,) are the ones who started very early and seem to have it figured out. I plan to give your advice a serious try and hopefully this year will be better than those that have gone before. Cheers and thanks for the very clear instruction. MikeR. ( p.s. I'll post my progress once season commences here in Nova Scotia.)

Cheers From Atlanta Georgia! You have been the only person I have seen on this UA-cam that has explained it like this! I have literally been just started swinging like that 2 weeks ago! I stumbled across doing this way by watching another instructor explaining how to drop the trail arm and turn in the back swing. The way you just explained it is exactly how I start my down swing and I swear I got 20 yards more distance in n my irons and way more height! The only thing I’m having issues with is I tend to Close my club face just a little and I pull hook or I don’t follow all the way through I block it 20 yards right. What do you recommend I do to fix this? Thanks for the video! Subscribed just now!

  • @hocheye
    @hocheye 3 місяці тому

My concern is casting the club away from you equals early extension. I understand what your doing but if I hinge or pivot my wrists early this may lead to my trail arm straightening out and that's not going to work. I don't hit the ball as long as some but it's always straight, and that works for me. To many people now are fixated on distance, and in many videos that's all they talk about.

I believe this is only the case with slow hand speed. If you have faster hand speed in conjunction with the feeling of an early release, a lot of the angle will be held until you actually need to fully release (because the hands moving fast means the club head naturally lags behind)

I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT THE CLUBHEAD MOVES AWAY FROM THE TARGET AT THE VERY START OF THE BACKSWING. THIS CREATES A NEGATIVE FORCE VECTOR. IF THE BODY IS IN BALANCE AT THIS START THE BODY WILL AUTOMATICALLY MAKEST A SMALL LOWER BODY MOVE TO MAINTAIN BALANCE. AS THE CLUBHEAD PASSES THE INITIAL “AWAY” MOVE, THIS LOWER BODY MOVE BECOMES UNOPPOSED. AND ITS MOMENTUM ASSISTS FURTHER LOWER BODY MOVEMENT TILL IMPACT

Not really new. You’re just explaining how to maintain width in your down swing in a different way. I think this may lead to confusion in some trying to put this into practice leading to early extension and a loss of lag and forward shaft lean at impact. I think there are better ways to explain it. This move needs to be taught in person, not on the internet. Just my opinion.

You're gonna have a lot of people swinging over the top....a golf swing is simple..If you wanna be great make an eight, you will be forced to rotate!!!

Only if they release without their lead wrist going into flexion.

No offence intended this release is nothing new. You cannot manipulate a release,if you get everything right pre impact then release is automatic ,manipulations are a compensation.
