- The USS Carney shot down a ballistic missile and several drones near Yemen on Wednesday, according to a U.S. official who blamed Iranian-backed Houthis for the strikes. I am not pro war or a jingoistic type of guy. I did serve in the military for some time and am proud of my service. But I just need to say that those men and women flying jets off an aircraft carrier and their support people in the dead of the night really are our best and brightest. !!! Such courage and dedication. Amazing.

This is not an achievement. The missiles fired by the Houthis cost about 10000 dollars. The missiles used to shoot them down cost about 2 million. The fact they are only shooting one missile means they are testing the responses of US navy. They know exactly the missile capacity of the ships. If they really wanted they could overwhelm the ships with cheap drones and the fire anti ship missiles and sink the ships.

 We worked 7 hours on and 7 hours off. The 7 hours off includes sleep, shower, eat and call your family. Then 5 hours on and 5 hours off. There are NO days off unless we go for a port visit. You off for 1-2 days.
It’s VERY cold in combat, cold that you need a jacket are coat on. As you can see its dark in there.
You do NOT want excitement, excitement means danger. Especially when you see an surface or air contact coming after us.
My sleep is STILL Destroyed. When you are in that type of atmosphere. The brain gets you to it. It doesn't shut dowm and relax.
When you in a place where danger can come. You don’t really relax. When you out to sea. No one is coming to rescue you. Everyone is trained and qualed. That we save the ship and ourselves.

A regular Task force usually only has 3 or 4 during a regular deployment but the situation is pretty bad and its more of an operation at this point so theyll probably boat load of the destroyers out rn. Pun Intended

I believe the British have a couple of warships and the Netherlands(?) another one, all part of Operation Prosperity Guardian, so they will integrate into the US Carrier Strike Group
