  • UPDATE: This bike does have a slipper clutch according to CFMOTO official website, so looks like I was incorrect. I felt the tire skid a little bit during my ride, but may have just been too much for the slipper clutch to impact. My stance on it being a first bike stays the same though: Not a great first bike option. Still an awesome bike all around!
    If you're on the fence about CFMOTO, I am gonna recommend you go ahead and hop off of the fence to the side that says "YES!".
    This is an awesome motorcycle, and CFMOTO continues to deliver on its slogan of "Ride without compromise". This is an awesome bike! I hope you enjoyed the video enough to consider leaving a like, and subscribing for more content in the future!

      That's an insane feature to have on any motorcycle. I have wanted so many times to just be able to take my hand off my Z400 and stretch a little bit but the engine braking is so harsh i always have to keep on the throttle. Great feature!

      @@davidgeselladd a $19 throttle lock. Hey it doesn’t work perfect unless installed perfect but at 70-75 mph I pop it on to rest my hand for a few seconds. Sure it slips 1 mph for every 15-20 seconds but it’s functional for the most part.

    Thank you for the review! I was looking for an MT-03, but that bike is impossible to get without shipping or driving 5 hours, which h would cost about the same. I pulled the trigger on a 300NK, and it is my first EFI bike. Once I get at least a full year of riding I will definitely be looking at getting the other color scheme of this bike, it is gorgeous. Keep the videos coming for this up and coming brand!

    Doodbro! Thank you for this review. I’ve been relying on reviews done from the UK, Philippines, India, etc. Not that they’re not informative. But having it gone through by someone on US roads and explaining American MSRP and OTD prices are much more understandable and relatable. I’ve been researching this bike as well as others in their line but this one really leads the heap. I’m not 100% sure I will buy this against a pre-owned and established competitor bike. But it really is a compelling entry into the midsize market. The value is fantastic. Great review, fine sir!

      Bike has killer value. Plus, a 2-year OEM warranty is really hard to look past when comparing to pre-owned Japanese bikes. If I were you, I’d write up a cost-benefit analysis sheet to see which one is going to check the boxes you are looking for in a bike! Whatever you choose, they are all fun. Thanks for comment!

    • @Omni_Moto
      @Omni_Moto  6 місяців тому

      This bike is very entertaining to ride and is easy to engage with once you understand where it makes its power. The mid-range is meaty and pulls very well after 5k RPM. You may look at something a bit larger though like the 800NK if you got bored with the power of the 500 too quickly though. All the best. Thanks for watching. 😎

    Man I’ve been riding since 2005 on sport bikes. I’ve had every CC from my first 2005 Yamaha R6. To my last bike which was a 2014 BMW S1KRR lol. But I’m 40years old now and the sport bikes are a little rough on my body. I spent 12 years in the infantry and my knees don’t hold up like they used to. I’m actually probably gonna buy this bike. Just to have something nice to play on when it’s nice out. Also hilarious video bro. Nice work

  • @Slane583

    I'd like to eventually get the Heritage version of this bike in the future when I've ridden more. My friend and I currently have some small displacement dual-sports which are based on older engine designs so even though we don't have a ton of motorcycle experience we're used to bikes without a slipper clutch. I'm also used to riding sport quads that don't have slipper clutches, so from that I've gained the habit of down shifting a gear and holding in the clutch until the rpm's have calmed down a bit and then I'll release.
    Though I'm a bit rusty since I haven't ridden anything fully manual since I was last in high school many years ago. Besides liking the looks better I want the Heritage version over this one as it's a more up-right seating position which is why I like my dual-sport bike. I've also considered the 300NK as well because of its' price tag and upright position, but for me it doesn't seem that much more powerful than my current dual-sport and I feel I'd be looking for something else again the more I get used to riding.
    For me I'm not looking for the most powerful thing that will get me to 150 down the interstate. I just want something that is a good enough size that I won't grow out of once I've gotten used to it, being able to do posted speed limits with ease without having to wind it out full tilt and something powerful enough that has the oomph to merge onto roads and get ahead of cars in the distance without feeling like you're running from a t-rex. Plus I just love the cafe-racer looks of the Heritage with upright riding position. I'm more in it for comfy riding with good handling than I am for nimble and sport-like. :)

    I know you say not a first bike, but I may choose it for a couple of reasons, 1. I'm 6 foot 200 plus pounds, and dont wont to look like grape ape when i ride, two sense it has an eco mode i feel that that and being 50 years old i trust i wont do anything crazy, also the way my bank account is set up, i have to look at a bike that has, more staying power.. also you were not a fan of the NK650 and your judgement seems pretty sound.

    do you think it needs a quickshifter?

    • @Omni_Moto
      @Omni_Moto  2 роки тому

      For a bike at this level, I think a quick shifter would be unnecessary. Unless you were racing it and looking to shave down your lap times, I don’t think a 650/700cc parallel twin needs a quick-shifter.
      My MT-10 has one, and it’s a somewhat fast bike, but I’d be indifferent on it having the QS. If it didn’t come with it, I’d still buy it. Same goes for most bikes that aren’t super-sports, because really, you don’t need one lol. The MT-10 is at the 1000cc bike level so having it as standard equipment is cool, but I wouldn’t miss it.
      To make a long answer short, I don’t think the CL-X 700 Sport needs a quick shifter. 🤷‍♂️

    Nice quick review, and thanks for the transparency on out-the-door price rather than MSRP like most people give (I understand tax and such is different in different places, but it gives the buyer info to use).
    One quibble, at 4:41, both CL-X 700s are listed on CFMoto USA's site as having a slipper clutch (still no quickshifter), and in the brochure I picked up at MotoGP when I sat on one. Does it not feel like it has one, or does the one you rode say it doesn't?

    • @Omni_Moto
      @Omni_Moto  2 роки тому +1

      I’ll need to double check on that, but when I downshifted and dumped the clutch it did skid the back tire. Would hate to be spreading misinformation 🤦‍♂️ If I get an update out that says otherwise I’ll have to edit in the description.

      Any bike that is 300-650cc will work as a beginner bike. The CLX is great because of the ride modes and its ABS system. If after the course you have confidence in yourself to ride a mid-tier displacement bike, then I’d say you can go for 500+cc, but no more than 700. Hope this helps! Thanks for the comment.

    • @Omni_Moto
      @Omni_Moto  2 роки тому +1

      Hey there! The CL-X 700 is a video I plan on making in the month of September at some point when I find time.
      The rear-seat on this from the factory is a no-go for a passenger. Looks like a pillion-seat is available from the Australian CFMOTO website, here --> shop.cfmoto.com.au/6guv-807100-7000-pillion-seat-700cl-x-sport
      If comfort and 2-up riding are mainly what you’re after, the heritage is the better bike, and I found a link for a sissy-bar luggage-rack combo specifically for the 700 Heritage that looks pretty good (albeit from AliExpress) --> m.aliexpress.com/item/1005002971291662.html
      CFMOTO will eventually roll out more accessories for the US. They’re still fresh to the market as well, so aftermarket support doesn’t really exist yet. It’s slowly showing up, but very hard to find with reliable quality.

    How about this bike as a first time rider and starting out in eco mode? I have a 15 minute drive to work and I’m thinking about getting a motorcycle for the commute. It’s all back country roads. 55mph so no city or highway driving either.

    • @Omni_Moto
      @Omni_Moto  2 роки тому +1

      You can ride the bike in eco mode and have a pretty good experience with it. But you, as the rider, need to be confident enough in yourself to handle the power, weight, and capability of the bike so you don’t hurt yourself. And I’ve found that just because the sign says 55MPH doesn’t mean you’ll want to do 55MPH on a bike lol.
      If you have the confidence in yourself after a real self-reflection where you can say you are confident and comfortable enough to start on a 700, then do it.
      If you have absolutely zero riding experience, I think you should be looking at a smaller displacement motorcycle.

      @@denzopark4592 After visiting their website it seems the V-Bobs are only available through their dealer partners in Germany/France. Aside from that though, those look like really cool little bikes! I personally like the looks of the Hero 250.
      The Bluroc company looks like a cool one though. If they ever made it over here they would be in a pretty unique segment of small-displacement cruisers with their one option, but their other options look interesting. Their 125 options would probably not do too well with all of the current mini-moto 125 popularity, but it would be cool to see. I think where their V-Bob would fall short would be in the weight department. Comparatively, Honda's Rebel 300 has more power and nearly 40 pounds lighter.
      As with most purchases though, the biggest factor is the price. If the V-Bob can provide a competitive advantage with features that are similar to the rebel at a price that justifies taking that model over something as reputable as a Honda, the V-Bob might be a good option if you are looking.

    Why get this over something like a used MT-07? You didn't speak to things like reliabllity, parts availability, service schedules, etc.

    • @Omni_Moto
      @Omni_Moto  Рік тому +2

      Hey, great question, thanks for watching.
      With a used MT-07, you can't guarantee the motorcycle has been maintained and serviced as it should be. You also can't be certain it wasn't ABused when you buy pre-owned. The CF will come with a 2-year warranty as well, where even a new MT only comes with 1-year.
      The MT-07 also leaves a lot to be desired in terms of suspension and braking. It also has no cruiser control, whereas the CL-X has adjustable forks, brembo brakes, and cruise control with selectable throttle modes.
      It mostly boils down to features when comparing the two, and a new CFMOTO doesn't cost terribly much more than a lot of used MT-07 in the marketplace. It is however significantly less than a new one when comparing MSRP between the brands. ($1,000 difference)
      Reliability, parts availability, and service schedules are still up in the air. From what I've seen, the 700 platform is actually holding pretty well in the real world in the hand of its owners. Sure, there are a few faults/shortcomings here and there, but almost no motorcycle is without that from any OEM.
      Along with that, many consumers are out there worrying about the same things you mentioned, but it's interesting you bring up Yamaha with this video because they just partnered with CFMOTO (ZYCM). I don't think a Japanese OEM would be willing to risk their reputation with a brand that didn't have good quality control. Based on the partnership, I'd say CF practices are at a caliber high enough to satisfy Yamaha. Link: global.yamaha-motor.com/news/2023/0915/corporate.html

      @Pyrrho_ Рік тому +1

      @@Omni_Moto Thanks for the detailed reply. I knew about KTM and CF Moto partnering but Yamaha is a much bigger deal.
      I'm looking to start track riding. I test rode a 450SS and found it impressive but lacking the torque to make it feel fun. This 700 would be the next logical step up from that, but I don't need cruise control and rider modes for that, so a used SV650 still seems a better option... for me.

      The Yamaha x CFMOTO news just broke over the weekend. It shocked me as well, as Yamaha is my #1 Japanese brand, so I am happy to see them collaborating with the same brand who gave my channel a ton of traction.
      On the subject of the SV, you can find a ton of them in the used marketplace in near-track ready condition for relatively inexpensive. They're amazing track machines from what I've heard as they have predictable throttle with linear and useable power.

    You mean to tell me that this is NOT a beginner bike, however. I was able to hop onto my dad's cfmoto and just ride it no problem? Is there something I'm missing about what makes a bike beginner worthy??

    • @Omni_Moto
      @Omni_Moto  Рік тому

      Well, Cam, let me break it down for you. After a very brief visit to your channel page, I immediately notice you have a video from 4 years ago where you were riding a 1976 Honda XL175 through trails, pastures, and some pretty dicey conditions. You appear to know how a motorcycle works, have the basic skill sets and have prior experience before throwing a leg over your dad's CFMOTO.
      Now, while that XL175 is nowhere near the capable output of the CL-X 700, you have prior riding experience on two wheels, so you will have an advantage over someone who has never so much as ridden a scooter since they won't understand basic balance skills, throttle control, body position, etc.
      SO! To answer your question, yes, I mean to tell you this is not a good "beginner bike" and what I mean by that is, if you have never ridden anything on two wheels, you should not seek out the CL-X 700 as your first-ever street legal motorcycle. To answer your other question "Is there something I'm missing that makes a bike beginner worthy?", yes, you are missing the fact that not everyone is on the same skill level, and not everyone understands the basic operating procedure of motorcycles. A lot of lives are lost every day because of inexperienced riders who were pressured to "get a bigger bike" before they have the fundamentals mastered because they feel embarrassed about not being on the same level as their colleagues.
      I hope this gives you a satisfactory explanation as to why this is not "beginner friendly" as a first-ever motorcycle for a new rider. Thanks for watching and ride safe.

    • @camcamthemotoman8391

      This was way more detailed of an explanation than I had expected to recieve. The old XL175 I had, I actually forgotten I had. I am confused between clx700 heritage vs ninja 400 krt. I know this is much more of power than ninja, but have you been on a kawasaki ninja before. Any suggestions? Price of both is close even though both are completely different motorcycles.

    • @Omni_Moto
      @Omni_Moto  2 роки тому

      I sell Kawasaki also, so yes, I know the Ninja 400 quite well! The CLX is WAY more bang for your buck, but almost too much for a first bike, if that’s what you’re after. If you are confident in your ability to respect the CLX’s power, then you can certainly grow into it. Eco mode will really help as well - as you saw in the video, it really changes how the power is delivered to be more of a slow roll rather than dead-spring rapid acceleration like in sport mode. Also, if you’re going to be commuting, the cruise-control feature is top notch to have.
      The Ninja 400 is not made to be a forever bike, so you will put grow it quicker than the CLX, and have to upgrade sooner. However, you can focus more on control with the Ninja, then move onto the CLX as a next step.
      74HP on the CLX is much more than the Ninja 400’s 43HP. I don’t think you can go wrong with either one, but you have to look at your own experience level to know if you are ready for the bike - even if you have the means to buy.
      Just my 2¢, ultimately the choice is yours! Whatever you decide, enjoy it, and just remember to ride safe. 👍
