As an art framer, I use this regularly for maximizing my cuts on large pieces of optimum acrylic. It’s SUPER expensive, and well worth the time.

I've been in the car audio business for about 35 years and always had a cut sheet to optimize the amount of wood to use, last 3 years i switched to making custom kitchen cabinets which with my experience with working with wood for so many years I applied the same cut sheet technology to make cabinets

Cutlist Optimiser is excellent. I've been using it for years for panels, as per your video, but also for shorter length cuts out of longer lumber. Keep up the great work.

Last thing I used sheet goods for were the 70" x 24" outfeed table for my cabinet saw, and the 84" x 36" assembly table. That was about 18 years ago. I do have a 5 x 5 sheet of Baltic birch to make make a console for the upgrade I'm starting for my van. Thanks for the cutlist program. I used one years ago, but that was two computer upgrades ago and lost information!

    Couple questions/video recommendations:
Do you have a list of top five favorite car audio brands? Maybe including different brands for different budget types? Or brands to avoid?
Is there a recommended RMS rating for optimal sound quality? And what effect does RMS rating have to do with sound quality aside from volume?
And do you have a recommended rms rating for subwoofers for different “tiers” of bass quality/loudness?
I understand a lot of that is probably preference, but I know a lot of us value your opinion greatly as you’ve been doing this for a while and you definitely know your stuff.
You easily have the best car audio channel on UA-cam! Extremely information, birdied are quick and right to the point, your sponsor shoutouts are quick, and your videos are entertaining even thought a lot of them are packed with lots of talking. Keep it up!

I usually purchase my material at Home Depot and take advantage of their cuting service. They have a big vertical saw that do straight cuts in no time. Having a printed "map" to show the guy how I want my cuts, instead of plain measurements, is a big plus, thanks for showing us this software.

  • @markphilpot8734

Did this on paper and that was time consuming. This software has some really good features. Whether it is worth it depends on how much of this work your shop is doing. If you are turning a great many enclosures, it makes sense to invest in this software. Wasted material is avoidable and not smart. Do what you want but a shop that turns products should at least consider it. Good video explaining how it works. Liked the angled side explanation. Stay safe mates!😊👍🏻😷

It's both relaxing and informative watching your videos.
I'm building a sthealt (relatively entry level) SQ system in my Alfa Romeo Giulietta and even if it's not completely done yet it's sounding better than any car I previously made a system on.
That's all by following your nice tips, listening pink floyd, or dire straits for example is a pleasure.
Thank you so much for taking the effort to make this, cheers from Italy!

I have been figuring this out manually, the kerf is always the hang up. I like that it has that option. I build display frames for a stone company, I will use this when cutting sheets of PVC, at $120 a sheet this program is awesome. I also use often Baltic Birch panels as well, those are around $50 bucks for a 30"x30" sheet, so yes expensive as well.

I haven't made a proper car stereo since the late 90's - early 00's, but I did something right back then as I was asked if I wanted to be sponsored by the shop I went to.
All my speakers, amps and subwoofer was DLS, a sweedish brand with "warm, natural sound" as they say.
Now I have a 2018 VW Polo with Beats stereo system, but it's more disco than consert hall... Gonna change the speakers to DLS and see what happens, hopefully to the better :-)

i have used cut list optimiser a fair bit . its good but there are better ones out there. i use max cut 2. the cut list optimiser is limited in the number of calculations you can do a day. its a pain to use that way because if you back a change you run out of uses very fast. its 5 i think. the main problem was that you can only do one material thickness at a times. so if your doing a cabinet you have to do the sides at 18mm on one calculation and the back at 6 or 12mm on another calculation and 22 of the doors etc etc.
i like max cut 2. you down load it so you can use it off line. you can use at much as you like and input the whole cutt list including all the diferent materials and it will work them all out together.
you can also input prices of the sheets and it will tell you the cost either as a pecentage of a sheet (say 1/3 of a 30 euro sheet is a 10 euro material cost) or a cost for full sheet or a combination so if you had to buy a specific material for that job and were charging all of it .
a neat feature of these is tricking the edge banding option to tell you the perimiter of edge sanding required. i use this bu selecting which edges need edge banding but set its thickness to zero . it will then tell me i need 46meters of edge banding and i can see how much extra sanding a filling of the edges i will need to do to get it ready to spray

Hi! I have a question, i am looking to change out my door speakers in my car. Will be running on stock amp. The way my stock car audio is setup is 3.5” midrange and tweeter on dash and 6.5” in door. They are powered seperately from the amp. Can i run a 6.5 component without the tweeter? I have already changed the dash speakers to a good pair of coaxials. The only pair of 6.5” speakers i find that are 3 ohm (my stock amp will only take 3 ohm) are jbl speakers either coaxials or component. Can i run just the 6.5” component and not use the tweeter or will that mess with something or should i just go for the coaxials and have the tweeter not do anything? I hope you understand my question :)

Use them(cut list) everyday. But I'm a commercial cabinet/millworker (use a beamsaw with automatic lift n back Biesse EBT 120)
Right now price of sheets are crazy high . normally everyone know baltic birch is very expensive, but now trying to get 1" 4x8 foot just standard plywood is $120 + a sheet. We now are buying the Baltic birch for $65.00 a sheet 4x8 also well it's in metric but essentially 4x8. That's is nuts because BB is far better quality but the scarcity of stuff is stupid.
