i think so? i'm brazilian and here we speak portuguese, not spanish, and we are also latinxs because of our location (even tho most people don't see brazilians as latinxs)
I think Latino needs to be redefined as “ Any people group who has roots from any people groups that has Latin language base, specifically Spanish, French, Italians, Portuguese, and Romanians, that live in the New World, such as North and South America. EX. Hispanics of South and North America, and the French Quebec’s of Canada.” That is how I personally see it.
I'm not sure but I think Latinos are the ones who speak a language that comes from Latin (Spanish, French, Potuguese, Italian, etc). Latinoamericans are the Latinos from America continent and Hispanic are the ones who talk Spanish (like Spanish or Mexican) people. So why don't we call Latinos to the Europeans ? ( latinoeuropeans). At least the ones who deserve it. By the way, Brazil is Latino but not Hispanic. Glad I help you!
@@IsaacBurgos1Burgos thanks for clearing it up, I was typing fast. But I still believe the Latino term should change to all those who have Latin (Or Roman) based ancestry who lives in the New World because that is more inclusive to all those who have Roman ancestry and speak a Romance Language, and not have to be those who have Spanish roots. But in that inclusivity, there are some things where the line must be drawn, such as the Slavs because of there their own people group and their own languages with complications, and the English, since its a primarily Germanic language with most people from England can trace there ancestry back to Germany, or Northern Germanic people groups, such as Nords and Swedes, and the Germans. That is why the English refer to themselves as Anglo-Saxon.
"Latino" is a generalized American term for anyone from Latin America, Latin American is Mexico, Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, Costa Rica, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, etc. Don't forget that.
1. Being Hispanic and being Latino are two separate things. 2. I think they should’ve brought people who have lived already in Latin America and people and not only American-raised Latinos. There’s A LOT of different experiences.
Kerrhyn Brooks very true but anyone who is Hispanic is Mexican . We just originate from different countries and other places like Puerto Rico or Dominican people .

I blame the fact that the US doesn’t have a universal education system and instead it’s based upon state regulations bc omg some states teach absolutely nothing
Because of patriotism. As someone who lives/goes to school in the US, has lived here for a long time, Americans think they own the world and don't feel the need to learn geography or take a citizenship test. They don't even know where the 50 states are on a map. Which in my opinion is really sad and only feeds the egos of those racist Americans.
I’m glad we got to do the Latino one but I’m kinda disappointed that y’all didn’t ask them about the Racism and Confusion about Race in the Hispanic Community
T S that’s not true if you go too south america a lot of people call themselves hispanos (hispanics), but here in the usa I’ve noticed that their trying to demonize that term not knowing that actual hispanics/latinos don’t really mind the term, in fact the term that actually bothers them is “latinx” (that includes me)
andres aguirre no one, literally no one uses the word Hispanic in Latin America. The 1st time I even heard that word was here in the US. In fact I don’t like the word either because of the connotation it has. Also it put us in the same group as Spain but not Brazil and culturally we have more in common with Brazilians that’s with Spanish people. And I really can’t care less about the term Latinx, Spanish is a language that use genders, and when you use the masculine it includes everyone, so for me Latinx or Latinos is a thing of preference
Could be tricky tho because what certifies someone a feminist like they could get loads of applicants and like 75% are white feminists you know like they go in there and they would represent feminism as something that’s not even feminism you know idk
Heavily appreciated that Latinos were given representaron, I’m part Hispanic, but this video could’ve hit so much harder with racism, colorism, immigration, school, job hunting and fields, etc. Glad they at least touched upon gender, but as a part Hispanic person I feel there were a lot of struggles that weren’t touched upon enough.

The word Latino is not gendered unless you specifically say "latino" in the context of talking about a latin male, the word "Latino" by itself means someone of latin descended which can be male or female. Many latinos hate the word "latinx" because no one can change a language that's been around for thousands of years and erase the history and again it's gender neutral already by itself so why make more words that mean the same and confuse native speakers from their own language

daniela gp this video wasn't about explaining the diversity of Latin America. It was asking questions to Latinos who grew up in the US. It a US cultural video.
this series is so wasted. you get this smart diverse group together and dont ask the hard questions. Like even with your weak questions they were having deep conversations.
gissseeell There is a very significant difference between growing up in the USA and Mexico, I’ll use Mexico as an example for a Latin American country. I believe that too many Mexican-Americans don’t understand that they aren’t actual Mexicans.
Luc Michel but we are? We are Mexican American. And of course there are differences in the way we are raised and live. But like in the video you have no right to tell us what we are and are not. I am Mexican American, I speak, read, write Spanish fluently I still have a lot of family in Tampico. So please-I am Mexican and I am American
Luc Michel and I think what Latin Americans don’t understand is that we (Latinos) are treated as foreigners everywhere we go. We’re gringos in Latin America and “not real Americans” in the US.
Juliana Sosa It’s ok to not be an actual Mexican (Mexican-Mexican). You are Mexican-American, and that’s ok. I think something I should add onto my original comment is that a good portion of Mexican-Americans don’t realize how American they are.

The title of the video, says, literally, "all Latinos think the same" Latinos are people who live in more than 20 different countries, Latinos are ethnically and culturally very different from each other. So they should have represented each one of them with their questions, not just one country
Cinco de Mayo?? That’s not for all Latinos why even ask the question Okay my problem with the question is that the title of the video says "all Latinos", idk, what I imagined was a group of people from different countries, like someone from Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala etc but they asked them about a Mexican holiday, I'm Latina and I have no idea what cinco de mayo is, it's like asking someone from Argentina if they celebrate idk, the independence of Salvador (I know cinco de mayo is not the Mexican Independence day), it doesn't seem to make much sense, so the title of the video should be "Latinos living in the US" bc then the question makes a bit of sense, since it's a misconception some Americans seem to make, that it's celebrated by any Latino apparently
Because that's the point. People (caucasian people to be more precise) believe that just because you are Hispanic or Latino or both that you MUST celebrate cinco de mayo since is a celebrated day said in Spanish.

i think so? i'm brazilian and here we speak portuguese, not spanish, and we are also latinxs because of our location (even tho most people don't see brazilians as latinxs)

Because of patriotism. They don't even know where the 50 states are on a map. Which in my opinion is really sad and only feeds the egos of those racist Americans.

Also it put us in the same group as Spain but not Brazil and culturally we have more in common with Brazilians that’s with Spanish people. The title of the video, says, literally, "all Latinos think the same" Latinos are people who live in more than 20 different countries, Latinos are ethnically and culturally very different from each other. So they should have represented each one of them with their questions, not just one country

@@LicMegags the title literally say what the comment mention. How does the title of the video define intelligent?
Cinco de Mayo?? That’s not for all Latinos why even ask the question
Okay my problem with the question is that the title of the video says "all Latinos", idk, what I imagined was a group of people from different countries, like someone from Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Guatemala etc but they asked them about a Mexican holiday, I'm Latina and I have no idea what cinco de mayo is, it's like asking someone from Argentina if they celebrate idk, the independence of Salvador (I know cinco de mayo is not the Mexican Independence day), it doesn't seem to make much sense, so the title of the video should be "Latinos living in the US" bc then the question makes a bit of sense, since it's a misconception some Americans seem to make, that it's celebrated by any Latino apparently
the people in this video are mexican ! ☺️ the video is mislabeled.
Angie Mar because Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in the US by people of ALL races and ethnicities, just like St Patrick's Day. 🙄
Because that's the point. People (caucasian people to be more precise) believe that just because you are Hispanic or Latino or both that you MUST celebrate cinco de mayo since is a celebrated day said in Spanish.
Guapo da God Cultures that live in America** you really think a Chinese that lives in China is goin to celebrate that? Of course not lmfaooooo So why would an Ecuadorian for example that lives in America celebrate a Mexican holiday? That makes no sense at all.

When I first went to school in the U.S (I'm from Brazil), I didn't know how to speak English very well, I could barely say sentences. Storytime from an Spaniard(yes, it is related to the video): I was on a travel in The Netherlands with 2 of my friends (fact: they don't speak English) and we were at a restaurant and a group of young American tourist came to us trying to know us and have a conversation (Americans I love how nice and talkative you are, you remind me of Spanish people somehow).
