I really like his more experimental stuff. So this one and "22 a million" are my favorite albums. I am very happy with the evolution of Bon Ivers sound. If I want good straight Indie Folk I listen to Fleet Foxes or Iron and Wine.

I love this spree of cacophonous sound sculpting Justin has been sharing with us. He seems to be dancing on a tight rope between chord and dischord, which is a vulnerable place to inhabit sonically. Even when the chaos gets to be overwhelming and confused, he seems to pull me back in with a perfectly cohesive pop phrase. Like when the claw machine starts to slowly lose grip of the teddy bear, but at the last second snags it by the paw and delivers it to your tiny toddler hands. Its that feeling, over and over again.
I was spacing out the first time I listened to this song and remember thinking “what the hell is happening?” Full blown goosebumps when the air instruments come in. Absolutely stunning.
