The musical made a lot of sense to me. Since in most fairytales, Prince Charming would be the hero. And Shrek would most likely be the monster guarding the princess. But in the Shrek universe, they were both trying to do the same thing. But Shrek got there first. And even if Shrek hadn't got there first, the outcome wouldn't have been the same. Since Prince Charming was not the good hearted person that his fairytale counterpart was.
I like how all the villains turned good after Arthur’s speech, because while it may not be too realistic, it reminds us that we have to have hope that there’s good in everyone.
Three theories: One : Since Harold was already dead at this point, Shrek was the rightful king by succession. Charming just wanted to do away with him in front of the whole kingdom to say "Long live the king" in front of everyone. Two : Charming wanted to amplify the prospect of a "traditional" happily ever after with all of Far Far Away attending. (Given that most Disney fairytales are musical, a stage musical sounds somewhat legit) Three : Charming wanted Far Far Away to go back to the mindset of Ogres being man-eating monsters and only humans can hold a rightful place in monarchy.
If i'm being honest, i never really liked Charming, neither as a character or as a villain, no disrespect to anyone who actually likes him though...everyone has a favorite villain.
Me neither. I've always been found of those self centered, selfish villains. Like Lord Shen,Scar and such. But tbh,Prince Charming was more likely a children with permission to wield a sword to me
Well, given he's a play on the prince and a villian, I don't think you're actually meant to like him. Since he was designed as a bad "prince" and an even worse villian.
My mom used to be a gospel singer and she has a very strong liking for music, and from the moment she watched the play from Shrek 3 she knew it was gonna suck, _definitely_ cringed at Charming's voice
Is Prince Charming based on the Prince from Rapunzel? I mean, I’ve read a theory that he’s not Fiona’s Prince, but Rapunzel’s, and that his mother ripped away his happy ending with her and hid the truth from him.
I think its more Charming had his pick of princesses. Most of the princes in their stories are referred to as Prince Charming. But none of those princesses could have given Fairy Godmother what she wanted. So Charming was taken out of each of their stories and paired with Fiona. While we the audience may know what Disney named the princes in each story they dont have names in their own stories. Charming had amazing potential for each one except Fiona. Think about it all Snow, Rapunzel, or Sleeping Beauty required of love was to be rescued by a guy and they would have loved him and married him. Fiona trapped in her tower was told to want the same thing but she always wanted more. She wanted freedom and choice. She gets that with Shrek. He expects nothing from her as he didn't see her as something to claim. She was never going to be happy with Charming.
Juliana Ricardo Maybe he was actually Rapunzel’s true love. I mean, I read a theory that he’s Rapunzel’s Prince and that his mother ripped his happy ending with her and hid the truth about it. That could mean that Rapunzel was forced to be with someone she didn’t love as well. I like to think she was put together with a Prince called Marco.
I think she’s the very reason Charming took forever to rescue Fiona, maybe he accidentally rescued Rapunzel because their stories are similar (sans the dragon), from there he was living happily with her, but he and mommy had a deal already, so he had to pack up and leave, but with the promise that once he becomes king, he would go back for her so she would become his real queen, meaning Rapunzel may’ve been on his side all along
I believe charming was a puppet created by the fairy godmother to give her more power. Basically he was intended to save the princesses from dangers created by the fairy. I actually think there were more than one Charming, but the other ones disappeared when the fairy died because they accomplished their job, while the one intended to save Fiona didn't. This also justify why the relationship with Rapunzel, he's basically a clone of her husband.
I mainly just chalked it up to the fact that Charming's always been self-absorbed, and wanted to display that for the whole kingdom. On top of that, he wanted to take everything away from Shrek and humiliate him
As weird of an idea Charming did in the third movie, you have to give credit for some creative idea as both a show and a demonstration should anyone tarnish the name of Prince Charming, even though it ends up back firing quite literally.
Maybe she was his girlfriend since much longer, they were just keeping it secret, and they used that to their advantage so she could infiltrate Fiona’s force and screw them up
Plot point. She’s an indirect driving force towards the narrative. Without her, the princesses would’ve never learned how to escape or fend for themselves.
I actually believe it’s a subtle throw away at Disney, because at the time, Tangled (then known as ‘Rapunzel’) was in production hell since 2002. As of 2007 she was the only fairytale princess in the line up that wasn’t made a movie by Disney. Snow White? Check. Sleeping Beauty? Yep! Cinderella? Yes sir! Redeemed ugly step sister? Anastasia… “Belle”? Yes technically, but she was also the beast too. Rapunzel? No lettuce here… To be honest, it matches perfectly with her bitterness and cattiness towards the other princesses also.
Shrek was chosen as a successor to the throne by the King If Charming was able to kill Shrek then Charming would've been able to claim the right as King for himself With all of Far Far Away under his rule I don't think anyone would try and usurp him
Ya know it's sad ... with Rapunzel and the "bad guys" ... he could've formed his own kingdom to be in charge of or something ... he clearly CAN be a good leader to the right people...
Charming: You're about to enter a world of pain with which you are not FAMILIARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. Shrek: Well it can't be any more painful than the lousy performance you're giving.
After watching this, I can agree the play wasn't as necessary, but what's done is done. Shrek the Third may not have been the best chapter of this fairytale franchise, but it was a favorite of mine when I was a kid.
I loved Charming as a villain in Shrek the Third. Because one: They were all results of bad parenting, like Shrek being almost eaten by his dad because they eere ogres; Prince Charming who all his life was manipulated by his mom, turning him into a pawn, a power piece and never allowed to be himself, and when he lost the hand that controlled him, he lost his way. Then we have Artien abandones by his dad and him growing up thinking thay he was a loser becaus everyone told him so. So in a way this simply was to show hoq bad parenting can lead to this cahotic person. Second every action has a consequence, Shrek killed his mother therefore it made sense that he sought revenge and tried to accomplish his mother's dream to see him as king. And third, well I loved this version of Prince Charming than in the second movie, yes he may not be memorable like Farquad but still loved his development he changed from being a mama's boy, hidden by his mother's shadow into a semi mama's boy who manipulated people with his charms. People like Prince Charming are dangerous because you never know what's building underneath that naive persona.
Reading the comments makes me sad that no one seems to like Charming. 💔 He’s my favourite character in the whole franchise. 😅 really enjoyed this video though and all of your videos! Especially the Shrek ones! I love shrek so much and it makes me happy to watch these. Would love to see another one in the future if you have any more topics to discuss on it. 😊
This in fact makes perfect sense. And how you turned Fairy Godmother’s plan on its head by revealing the sad truth behind every fairy tale she’s orchestrated. It would also explain why she was so unfair to Shrek and unable to make exceptions for him. Every fairy tale in the Shrekverse… they’re all lies.
ok at first i thought your channel was stupid because i just did not think you had much of a claim to your theory's but then i watched your mor'du's story then i started to get hooked then i liked your channel cause you dived deeper then anyone i knew and for that i thank you
The only other time we see any other Ogers is in the parallel universe where Shrek was never born. . Leading some to theorize If he killed other ogers. But I was told some else was tge one to talk to about an over problem. . and in that parallel universe he's a fat lazy and pet of the orger revolt .
i dont think that theory can be true because the other ogres were near far far away and shrek lives at his swamp.. far far away. he had no reason to travel that far before he met fiona. and plus shrek would’ve recognized them and prolly remember killing them
Why not another kingdom? Why specifically Far far away? Since Charming was probably a big hit with other princesses who weren't Fiona, would it really have been a huge loss for him and Fairy Godmother to not have Far far away in their clutch and think of another way for King Harold to pay his debt?
Nice theory and all for this video. Hey, have you ever thought of doing a video on Elena of Avalor now that her show is over? (just a suggestion) Cause I realized something that might need some answering. Alacazar claimed that Elena tested many princesses before she knew Sofia was the one who was able to free her from the amulet, so...
I loved Shrek the third. Arthur learning to embrace his role as king and Shrek learning to embrace fatherhood through Arthur was a very compelling story to me. The parts with Charming was less important.
Fanon Discontinuity: A major victim of this, especially since its only real impact in Forever After was a scene at the start where it's revealed Shrek and Fiona have had kids. (And considering the context of that scene, it's still hardly necessary to watch Shrek the Third). Even if one likes Forever After, skipping this one is seen as very reasonable, as it is barely acknowledged in the fourth film (the most notable example is Artie being crowned King of Far, Far Away at the end but being totally absent in the following film). The only significant events that Shrek The Third leaves in the series are King Harold's death and the redemption of the Poison Apple villains (which explain why the establishment has turned into a children restaurant in the following film).
It could have, but the problem is why did charming not realize he still loves cinderella in this movie? Could charming still have that kindness in his heart and still be with cinderella?
He attended to kill shrek and avenge his mother the fairy godmother so he could be king thanks God he and rapazal both got what they deserved in the end
I agree his singing is bad. They should've chosen famous singers like Rob Halford from Judas Priest or the AC/DC lead singer (I forget his name) to do Charming's singing voice
I watched this movie when I was a teenager and haven't watched it since. With that said, I liked the movie and thought Prince Charming was just a spoiled kid who had his whole life laid out for him, and when his mother died, he was lost. Didn't know what to do. He was never making decisions for himself and now he had to. As for the play, he clearly likes performances and whatnot, and killing Shrek in it is just a way to show how heroic he is.
How I would rank the 4 shrek movies (may have Misspelled that) 2 is the best 4 it’s pretty damn good Considering it’s predecessor 1 outshined by its sequels but still a pretty good movie 3 torture
Shrek's old deal with Rumple still stands . maybe if he older and wiser he might figured that a day older and Wiser after all. Was the day he was born or the date . maybe he could have wished to be born a day earlier. Funny how biggest plots holes are Shrek 4
I want to know what would have happened if Charming reached Fiona first and how they would trick Fiona into believing the kiss worked when it didn't because her true love is Shrek not charming. Sorry I keep asking
I think fairy godmother was the one who put the curse on Fiona. It was all part of her plan to become a ruler through charming. All she had to do was reverse the curse when charming kissed Fiona.
All they needed was the Love Potion, it was their ultimate weapon in case Fiona wasn’t feeling fond of Charming. Whether he Godmother casted the curse on Fiona or not, it doesn’t matter, because one of her potions was actually able to successfully cure it, so she could’ve easily done an instant antidote (or downright undoing the curse with her wand), all to further convince Fiona that Charming IS her lover, the Godmother had all of that very well though out
I think Charming has a problem with Shrek because Shrek did ruin one fairy tale. Charming wanted revenge on Shrek because Charming was the next heir of Far Far Away. Another thing that bothered me. In Shrek 4, when Shrek signed the contract, did Rumplestiltskin actually killed the Fairy Godmother and Charming after he ruled Far Far Away?
Please let me know if you've covered this topic already, but one thing I would definitely like to know is why, in Rumpelstiltskin's alternate reality in Shrek forever after, no one else came to rescue Fiona from the dragons tower when clearly there were other interested individuals. I actually have some theories of my own. But I want to hear what your thoughts are on the subject.
Shrek seems to be the only one that had the skill and intelligence to successfully rescue Fiona at the time, everyone else very likely (and stupidly) tried fighting the dragon first, or were too dumb to sneak behind her, while Charming very likely had something specifically made to deal with the dragon in case she became a major threat. But more importantly, have in mind that in Shrek 4, everything got hecked once Rumpel took over, everything was in ruin and people were barely surviving, and Fiona lost her status as princess of Far Far Away, so to absolutely everyone in their right mind, she was completely NOT worth rescuing, so she was left there to rot thanks to Rumpelstiltskin
I'm curious about what Harold and Lillian's exit clauses would have been had they signed the contract with Rumpelstiltskin. I realize they faded from existence, but surely there must have been something to undo what they did. I don't think Rumpel has the option to leave out the exit clause, otherwise he would have done so with Shrek's contract. My guess is that, if the King's original agreement with the Fairy Godmother had been fulfilled, with Charming rescuing Fiona, Rumpel's deal would have been voided out. Then again, Shrek's exit clause was hidden in the bold letters of the contract, so maybe the answer lies within the print.
my only real "complaint" about this movie narratively speaking is that it made literally no sense whatsoever that known loser prince charming just instantly convinces all of the kingdoms loyal guards and subjects to overthrow the very much still alive queen on grounds that, for literally no reason, prince charming is just the king now. it bothered me so much it ruined my enjoyment of the rest of the plot by the end. like he just shows up, and then even though everyone hates him, he just says "get them!" and everyone is just like yup we follow the prince now he kissed a girl so hes king!
I don’t know if anyone said this yet (tell me if they did), but his mother did it better. By that, I mean giving a spectacular performance (AKA I Need A Hero). But meh, his performance was funny especially with his terrible singing XD.

My question is, why and how Rapunzel betrayed her friends including Fiona and ended up siding with Charming in the first place?

All they needed was the Love Potion, it was their ultimate weapon in case Fiona wasn’t feeling fond of Charming.
Whether he Godmother casted the curse on Fiona or not, it doesn’t matter, because one of her potions was actually able to successfully cure it, so she could’ve easily done an instant antidote (or downright undoing the curse with her wand), all to further convince Fiona that Charming IS her lover, the Godmother had all of that very well though out
Sorry, I'm late I had to do school work.☹
I love your channel!❤❤❤
My favorite character from sherk is princess 👸 Fiona
You should do the fairy godmother 's backstory
May we have some more Phineas and Ferb?
I know you already have it planned, I know that I beat you over the head with the same comment, but Isaac, make the Tigress video your masterpiece!
I feel like Schaffrillas productions would agree with you on this. He’s made it abundantly clear that he hates Shrek the third.
charming is a knock off prince that is spoiled but Shrek 3 was good, magical, funny and awesome👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Maria Mendoza 5:08 “THIS DOESN’T FEEL REAL ENOUGH YET!!” 😠😤😡
Can you do a video about why the princess move to far far away and why they had live there.
I honestly thought that everything made him go crazy..
Can you help explain why mordu never left the ruins of the castle it's been bugging me
What did you think of Rumpelstiltskin as a villain in "Shrek Forever After"?
Even though sherk the third wasn't good and Charming wasn't the best villain I can say he was funny
I mean of course it's not as good as the first two. But I still think it's a perfectly decent film.
Dustin Freeman Maybe Prince Charming and Fairy Godmother moved to Duloc to control it.
@@YellowBear-kx1ff rip Fardquad.
We saw in the first movie plenty of corpses in the castle, so there were alot of knights but none of them skilled enough.
@@dustymcwari4468 I can see that
It’s my birthday your epic
Unrelated but I feel like if I was friends with him we'd never ever stop talking
He should look for he’s happily after somewhere else maybe when he has a capstone audience to give him some cheer on his shows
my only real "complaint" about this movie narratively speaking is that it made literally no sense whatsoever that known loser prince charming just instantly convinces all of the kingdoms loyal guards and subjects to overthrow the very much still alive queen on grounds that, for literally no reason, prince charming is just the king now. it bothered me so much it ruined my enjoyment of the rest of the plot by the end. like he just shows up, and then even though everyone hates him, he just says "get them!" and everyone is just like yup we follow the prince now he kissed a girl so hes king!
I don’t know if anyone said this yet (tell me if they did), but his mother did it better. By that, I mean giving a spectacular performance (AKA I Need A Hero). But meh, his performance was funny especially with his terrible singing XD.
Will u be doing discovering Disney for UDM characters
To be honest, I seen shrek the third in theaters as a kid
I just thought that the plan was ricreate his happly ever after story that Shrek "stole" from him.
I wish I had a fraction of your energy
Hey Isaac, have you watch that "But They're Not Gonna Laugh Anymore" video?
Can you please do a video on Rumpelstiltskin from Shrek 4?
Where the villains past customers of his mom?
I really didn’t think charming put that much thought into he’s plan but guess I was wrong
Can you do a video about the disney princesses in Shrek?
Did y’all notice how many times they mentioned ham in the 2nd Shrek movie??
I would have made him a second Villan like shrek 2 and have a new original villan who deeply hates sherk and have chramming a redeem arc
He doesn’t hear himself singing does he
You planning on doing any Mulan centric videos soon Issac cause well you know.......
Caroline DiSalvatore Maybe one on the Mulan remake?
So charming didn't inherit the biggest potion fortune in the kingdom?
