These are good quality bulbs for $13. They also make E12/B12 candles for ceiling fans. Couple issues I ran into that might help some watching this. a) If your ISP combines your 2g and 5g into one network, separate them lest you'll have trouble connecting to the 2G. b) If pairing goes well until the end and you get a firmware update failure or other connection issues and a red exclamation point/light unavailable message, turn the light switch off and back on. Repeat until it gets recognized. You don't need to start from scratch. c) If you have multiple bulbs in one fixture, group them together by long pressing and dragging together into one circle. d) These things can be a pain to detect. The key is to keep trying. Flip the power off and back on. It should eventually detect.

We just bought one ($13 Home Depot) to check out the technology. I forgot to switch to my 2.4ghz so it took a few tries (I also forgot my password). Once it was connected I ran into an issue of the firmware not updating. I tried to chat with tech support through the app but I just kept waiting and waiting... so I finally turned off the bulb manually and on again which seemed to take care of the issue. I did a few tests and the app is pretty sweet. You can set timers, colors, intensity... Is it worth it? Maybe not. I think our regular led bulbs would work just fine at at least 1/2 the price. Is it "fun". Yup. It's like being at Disney World! One thing I don't like is the EULA but what the heck, your privacy has been dead for at least a decade now. Since Philips Wiz and Wiz use same app I'm going to try the Wiz which cost much less $. One more thing. While the actual "bulb" runs cool, the base gets just as hot as the old style bulbs so beware.
Use another mobiles hotspot, instead wifi, at first when setting up. Then create account if not already created, save the configuration. This worked for me.
Thank you so much for your detailed explanation. I almost gave up because I couldn’t find the right app in the first place then I found your video and pairing is a success. Guys this video is very informative, like it tells you what to do step by step. You are the best👍
I've been using various Wiz devices for a couple of years and have had mostly good luck with them. At least when first setting a device up. The one BIG issue that appears later is when trying to move a device from one "room" where it was previously programmed to another. At that point, the device usually vanishes into smart home purgatory where it is neither connected or released from either room. I usually spend hours doing countless resets and re-pairings before the device finally connects again properly. Any ideas on how to fix this or prevent it from happening? There seems to be something seriously lacking in the Wiz setup routines.
I've not experienced this problem. I usually just drag and drop the bulb or smart plug icon up into the other room and it just works. Might have been a software bug that has been fixed.
Is there a way to keep certain lights off until I manually turn them back on from the app? I find after I turn off some of my lights they all come back on whenever I turn on my light switch. Ideally I want to only keep some lights on and only turn on the rest when I want a brighter room to save energy but it always turns on all of my lights when I turn the light switch on.
Hello, has the application option to turn off the light at a specific time? For example a want to turn of the light on 23 p.m. Is it possible? Thank you
Need a smartphone hub for that but from the looks of it it seems you don't need the app. I don't have the hub so I'm gonna use the app and pair the service with smart things. Haven't actually gotten to use it though, have to wait till after work.
I’ve had mostly good results since they came out and the fact they have a chat for help right in the App is cool but for years I have asked them to add dusk-to-dawn and they just say ‘we currently don’t have that’. Umm, I know, that’s why I’m asking. It’s probably one day’s work for the App programmer. Your location is already in there.
There is a schedule ability that works to do this simply by setting the time of day to kick on and another to kick it off. I just tried it and it works fine.
I've wasted 2 days screwing around with these Wiz can lights. Worked fine for a week then...1 by 1 they lost connectivity to the wifi. Tried everything on line and FAQs. Never again
These bulbs may not find the 2.4 network automatically. Its a problem with older networks. If you use the newer WIFI 6 technology wifi, this won't happen. Suggest you use a Wiz controller instead of a power switch or dimmer.
Taking back to Home Depot. I can't connect the damned thing. Keeps saying it can't find my Wi-Fi. Yes, I'm using 2.4 and near the Wi-Fi. I've tried multiple times. The Wiz XXXX doesn't populate in my Wi-Fi. Meaning it can't pair manually or otherwise. So frustrating!!
How does the fade in fade out thing work cuz I have it set up for like 5 seconds but it's on within 2 how does that work cuz it's clearly not doing what's supposed to
I had a terrible time connecting my 2 hue light strips. I stumbled across a video about the hue outdoor lights that mentioned to sync to the hub inside as close to the hub as possible before putting them outside. I thought AH AAAHHH. I was lucky enough to have a 50 foot Ethernet cable laying around and got the hub within 6feet and they finally connected. After connection they work great. Hope this is helpful
Does this light bulb switch on with the switch already on my sons bedroom wall. What happens if his not home with his smart phone, does someone need to download app just to use the light bulb.
I would also like to know. Once set up for a specific color and brightness level can the bulb be turned ON/OFF like a regular bulb from the switch on the wall?
Can you still connect this light bulb to a ceiling light fixture that has a dimmer switch connected to it? It so, do I keep the dimmer switch to the fullest setting and keep it on, and just use the WIZ app to control the light dimmer/colors? (and on and off, I guess you can use both the App or the manual light switch?)
sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot my login password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me
