Great comparison thanks. I felt the same about the Oly menus and only moved over to OM Systems with the launch of the OM 1 thanks to the improved menu system.
I suspect Gen AI is going to reduce the potential for this market given that publishers margins are gossamer thin and licensing costs become avoidable. Which would be a great shame. Henry Miller cover reminds me of David Goldblatt’s ‘Particulars’. Appreciate the original content angle.
A bit off-topic for you, but can you comment on the use of photos on book covers which have obviously recognizable people in them--and which just as obviously could not have associated model releases? How does that work? Just found your site, subscribed, and enjoying it mightily.
Very interesting, something of a revelation to me. Admittedly I do not read a great deal of fiction so I never made the connection between book covers and street photography. So will I need a new bookcase to house paperback fiction that will stand next to my collection of photographic books? Time will tell.🤫
What an interesting subject for a video! Thank you so much for this, extremely fascinating.
Thank you. Very interesting and original.
Hi Rupert, good to see new a new video from you.
Interesting and thought provoking - thanks
Fascinating topic 🙂

Thanks for the sub. I believe that if the picture was taken in a public space, then no permissions are required.
Very interesting Rupe! Have you seen the Penguin version of Sam Selvon’s The Lonely Londoners?
Nice one, gotta love those Modern Classics covers!
Welcome back Rupert. Immediately shot over to Abe books looking for the works of J G Ballard 😊👍
Excellent! Concrete Island and High Rise are probably my favourites.
@@rupertvandervell High rise is the volume I chose. Best wishes Rupert

How does one get their photo selected to be put on a book?
the best way is over an international working agency like getty or plainpicture
