I am currently working with a business consulting company. I really can relate to avoiding people and locking up to achieve something. Sometimes, I feel like it's a motivation to do better and be that person who will change their lives. Bt the way, I've called my mom yesterday 😅
Love to see this aspect of you, Matt. Great perspective: the people who care about your materialistic success are the one who care about you the least. Gotta call my mom^^
I think my reasons have changed throughout my life, but now my greatest why is that there is an intrinsic reward that is gained in the pursuit of excellence. Waking up early, committing to your craft, taking care of your health and relationships and striving to be the best version of yourself are all things that contribute to a deeper sense of meaning and purpose in our lives. While the people who love us the most may not necessarily care about these external accomplishments, I think there's still something to be said about the value such pursuits provide. Also, I haven't called my mom this week, but I did grab dinner with her yesterday ;)
Appreciate the time you took to write this one up. I relate to the intrinsic reward from simply trying your best and committing to one’s craft. It’s one of the things I love about UA-cam!
great short vid 🙌 i pondered this through the thick of my previous job and realised the time we have with our loved ones is short. yes, money and work is important but understanding where to draw the line is important too. cherish your loved ones before they’re gone
I have been avoiding my parents recently, I have a great relationship with them but I feel so guilty talking to them that I don't give them my full attention during calls. I really appreciate you sharing this perspective.
Great concept and an important reminder for those of us in the trenches on the perpetual grind. Unlike some megalomaniac yt channels glorifying the grind but lacking depth like Kevin Jon (kinda entertaining tho) you are doing God's work mate to bring in some much needed balance to people incl myself. To answer your question: am holidaying with my family 😊
So true, my mother is 62 and I am aware that I have very little time with her, any day I'll get a call that I don't want to pick.... Just this feeling makes me sad and make more closer to her....
Hello Matt, great video. I try to keep in touch with my family weekly. Can you please make a video about how you organize and keep track your tasks/responsibilities to ensure that you’re delivering on a day to day while keeping track of everything? Essentially, how do you take control of your time to get many things done?
I today only talked to my mom, being in college I am always looking out for more things to learn, acads, consulting club etc. Thanks a lot for this video
hey matt thanks for your sharing. would maybe want to counter argue a bit here esp on 'parents would love for whoever you are' kind of opinion - 100% get it, but i felt the assumption here is that you are at least financially independent, otherwise can imagine there will be many arguments over smaller things, budget etc that would create frictions between parents and kids, although the base love is still there. i guess thats the reason why we push hard - not to let parents worry
I haven't called my mom...but I live with her... In all seriousness, this is a great video that I relate to in so many ways P.S. We need an "outfit choices" video
Bold of you to say "Am I a good son", from an asian kid 😂 Answering your question - I haven't. Funnily enough, I think you're right now in a very similar spot to me. I've grinded for the last 2 years (diverse high status full time internships + studies + leading student organizations). I've managed to burn out and have now landed at a corporate in tech department (#1 in industry, #1 tech employer in my country) which is a bit slower compared to my previous life. Naturally you start to see that there are other things in life, that it can be designed to be more valuable. And that over-analytical flatness found in consulting and finance is not the only answer to running organizations - contrasted with bottom-up engineering thinking ;) Do I strike a cord or two? Hah
I have a request for you to make a video on one specific topic. But before that, yes i have called my mom So can you make a video on how to switch from investment banking analyst to a consulting role at MBB? You've done it so your experience and suggestions can help me. Btw love your videos, keep creating such videos
