Polk Sheriff Grady Judd explains Florida's new anti-riot bill

- From the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Governor Ron DeSantis signed a measure into law that would stiffen penalties against violent protesters.
The sweeping proposal, titled "Combating Public Disorder," would create a new crime of "mob intimidation," enhance penalties for riot-related looting and violence and create an affirmative defense for individuals who injure or kill violent protesters.
In attendance during Monday's signing was Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, alongside other law enforcement officials. Senate President Wilton Simpson, House Speaker Chris Sprowls, Senator Danny Burgess, and Representative Juan Fernandez-Barquin were also present during the signing of HB 1.
Judd provided visual examples capturing moments during a riot and a peaceful protest.

Well there are at least two county’s with that Kind of Sheriff. The other is Brevard and Sheriff Wayne Ivey (the real big guy) is standing right behind Sheriff Judd in the video. (I’m real proud of him).

Apparently I'm not as gullible as you are. Any town I've ever lived in, any interaction good bad or indifferent that I or anyone I know has had with the mostly corrupt officers has been crooked on their part.
I think they may all go in for good reason and low and behold that big bunch of (Bad Apples) has got the" New " officer as bad as they are. They think they are judge jury and executioner. Get a camera out and start recording them once and see how they flip a script.
Just because you see cops on they're best behavior, not while the majority of them are beating they're wives and kids ( more than any other career) doesn't mean they are all good upstanding people.

I had a friend in handcuffs because her boyfriend was in trouble, who died with a gun shot wound to the head, they said she shot herself after she got the gun out of the glove box!! You probably believe that, right?
I do believe that people, me included use to respect the police until they got out of control and now act like we should bow down to them,
I think they should follow the law too, Grady Judd is transparent and holds himself and others accountable with honesty and integrity. I personally have never seen any law official actually care about the citizens.
I also have respect for people in the military, until they become crooked cops!!

As a Brit, I took my kids on an adventure of a life time to Florida. They loved it and I met some of the nicest people in the world there. In particular, an Hispanic waitress at the Ponderosa on International Drive, where we had breakfast every morning for the two weeks we were there. I forget the ladies name, my kids loved her, she was so cheerful and helpful. She loved her state and she loved her job. She was an absolute gold mine of information and advice for things for the kids to experience. My kids made sure we always left a bloody good tip, not that they needed to. My girls are adults now, with kids of their own, they have fond memories of their trip. They remember all the parks and places we visited, but they also remember this lady and that makes me proud of them.

@@tommys-143 The legal rights of American citizens concerning warrants was not addressed in this video. All warrants must be in full compliance with the law. BTW, one of my best friends had his house raided on the basis of a warrant so spurious that you would probably not believe the details if I related them.

@@SMOKEY428 what is not shown is that here in Lakeland (Polk county) we had the protest… but then they all started gathering for a riot and heading towards businesses.. sheriff Judd surrounded them with everything.. all the police.. riot police, fire trucks.. police on horse back.. APCs ect… brought the whole crowd to a standstill.. then he lined up dozens of greyhound buses.. then Grady Judd got on the loud speaker after they had been there for quite some time and stated “You can come with us.. or you can go home” and that was it.. no more riots

You will never get it. The rich liberals all live behind gates with private security. Commuted into Seattle for 23 years. I witnessed just about everything. I was propositioned once by a prostitute (standing next to her pimp) while walking to work at 8 am. She lifted her dress to show me her vagina as I walked by. When I kept on walking she let out a loud 20 second scream.
When work went remote I was elated. I do not go into Seattle at all. It looks like a war zone with boarded windows in the shops. Planning my escape soon. Laws in the state reduced the penalty for car jackers but by god if you don't recycle it is life in prison for you.

However what this bill does is grant huge new powers to the police with massive trust in what amounts to little more than a pinkie swear. Its like Obamacares 6000 man private army, "pinkie swear, its only allowed for good".
The way you deal with such things is not by giving the gov more power but by giving people more power. So you enact things like constitutional carry, protections for lethal use use of force in some scenarios to protect property, clarification so that the same court system trying to punish Kyle Whittenhouse for reasonable self defense is handcuffed not strengthened.

Brit here, took my kids there for Disney, it was in July. I remember how the heavens use to open up every afternoon and man would it rain. Got to the stage I use to say to the kids, "Here's the rain, must be three o'clock."

The officers and the Governor are true American heroes. Any normal American citizen can see that, and they are heroes also. Rioting and looting can only be stopped by use of penalties strong enough to deter crime. If you do not have penalties for crime you are going to have crime.
That's NOT a correct statement. FRom my observation, Riots only happen when The People are fed up withe the court system. When Police Officers are corrupt and get away the wrong they're doing by the court system, That's when The People re-act. As long as The Government is doing what We The People elected you into office to do, We're good. But if The Government is corrupt, you're bringing a Civil War. The People will NOT put up with corrupt Government.

I’m from Canada and have never understood the concept of a Sheriff. But Grady was just on a radio interview up here.......what an outstanding guy! Up here, our police are appointed, they are sterile and disconnected from the public. The sheriff explained the concept of an elected policeman to represent the government AND the people equally. It’s just brilliant. Here in Canada the police just Dictate the law. It’s too bad, stiff and not ‘real’ in any way. Its so refreshing to see how law enforcement is Administrated down there. I wish we had a guy similar to that. You guys are lucky. ☺️

I live and have a business near Seattle. I lost my business bc of the covid shutdowns and unconstitutional mandates. I've been seriously thinking of moving down to Florida to be near my brother and friends. So many of my friends in the PNW have left this insanity. It's far past old at this point.
