- For generations, U.S. presidents in crisis have repaired to the Situation Room with their advisers. In his new book, aptly titled "The Situation Room," TV host and former White House communications director George Stephanopoulos looks at the dilemmas America’s past leaders have reckoned with in that space. He tells Walter Isaacson all about them.

So much respect for George Stephanopoulos. Thank you!
This guy's as good as it gets.
That was a beautiful conversation! Thank you Amanpour & Co. And Walter Isaacson for having George Stephanopoulos on your program to talk about the situation room and all the people involved. Very enlightening! 🇺🇸🗽
So interesting, thank you for such an enlightening conversation.
Thanks, Mr. Stephanopoulos. As a former Republican who was not at all pleased with Pres. Clinton (the differences seem pretty trivial now). You are one of the very few reporters who have started to learn to deal with Trump's collaborators/enablers/sycophants. Please teach all your colleagues.
I agree. George’s reporting during this time is one of the few bright spots in holding power to account.
Just bought the book and I am looking forward to reading it.
Much needed information of important overlook of history from Nixon forward ... speaks to how and why we got here today ... THANKS!
This book is unique because the Situation room is the nerve center of our government. It is readable, empirical, and genius.
Imagine a convicted felon sitting in there today with his felon pals like Steve Bannon, Jim Jordan, MTG, Scott , Manafort , tucker, Cruz....
Help us! 🆘️
No one is going to save us, so we need to get out there and vote BLUE in massive numbers to defeat the domestic terrorists trying to ruin us. We need to save ourselves!
Pres. Johnson’s obsession with collecting information to solve problems reminds me of Charles Darwin vs Alexander Agassiz, both trying to figure out how reefs form. Agassiz spent decades sailing thousands of miles just collecting more and more data…filled three huge volumes (which he destroyed in despair, or somehow lost, right before his death) without answering the question, Whereas Darwin thought about the question, made an intuitive guess and a couple of sketches on a piece of paper, and came up with a hypothesis, which proved to be correct.
Very interesting interview. Thank you!
0:29 Is that Michel Martin as Walter Issacson
✊🏾
Wow !! There is the arabic saying : manhood is situational?! Wow
Went to his event at 92NY and bought his book and about halfway thru. Unfortunately his talking points for all his shows are basically the beginning and end of the book. It's much drier than I had hoped.
II was struck by the lineage of males in the room!
oh, mahogany in the situation room, thank god- ugh !!!
I don't have a choice to like this :)
Ahhhh, Remote Viewing...
I am sure he was "hypnotized" like all the rest to forget what you see, what you heard and just go along with the program
Views = 23K “Likes” = 500+ Content: Great conversations Smart Q&A. Factual information, etc. It’s seems as if there’s little interest for insightful content. Unfortunately, society has the attention span of a flea.
Ole Gary told a white lie😂
George did a horrible journalistic job in the Bush years. He pandered shamelessly to the right-wing. George Will was on his show all the time, and they would laugh like college sophomores at Katrina Vanden Heuvel (representing the left).
George was the face of dysfunctional journalism, in my opinion.
Were you able to listen to this interview? It is good.
@@lindahoganson8721 No. He seems to be trying to redeem himself.
Oh, stop it. Stop selling books. Tell us about today.
George is a little weasel.
