    Great video! I live in Phoenix AZ and I can tell you the farmer markets sucks hard! Pretty much all stands sell human junk food like burgers, tacos, coffee, hot dogs , some vegetables, breads and I sometimes see some stands that sell meats without any organs, just cuts for humans. My best places: Asian markets and Latino markets. They sell all kinds of meat and organs. Some ingredients like green tripe and whole prey grinds I order them online during winter and spring.

    Helpful, thank you. Our local options are limited these days because it seems most places don't do their own butchering anymore, they get things already prepared from their headquarters. Raw Feeding Miami may help fill the gaps and I'll check out more ethnic markets and the farmer's market, too. Thanks!

    I'm obsessed with your videoes! I do not feed raw at the moment due to logistics and my dogs are very picky about raw food however I have been really inspired by your videoes for home-cooked meals. Thank you for showing your shopping spree on meats I thoroughly enjoyed it and cant wait to go hunting around local markets to see what varieties I can find!

    Chicago's Chinatown is pretty big so I think I will be looking there first before checking out the Miami website. Also, since I am Mexican, we have pretty good cuts as well like gizzard and beef tongue as well as tripe, you may want to check out a big Mexican supermarket as well. We also have live animal stores which butcher the animal you want right then and there so I plan to ask the butcher for rabbit front feet. A vid idea for the future: "How to handle leftovers". Great vid!

    I MISS MY ASIAN MARKETS IN SEATTLE SO FRICKING MUCH!!!! They were huge and had everything. Moving to Colorado Springs has made it difficult to find much in my Asian market as the Asian population in the city is only about 2%. Seems like that might be the case for you as well living in Virginia.

    • @Hynxoul
      @Hynxoul 3 роки тому +3

      Oh hey we're also there. We just started a raw diet as well. There's an Asian market called "Asian Pacific market." It doesn't have too much from what we saw, but it has fish, beef tongue, chicken livers pork heart and kidney, and whole gutted rabbits. We're looking to try a Mexican place soon that might have other organs and such. I hope this helps at least a little. As for chicken necks and green tripe, we're going today to pick up an order from a local raw food supplier. Maybe try searching for local raw food suppliers? That's what worked for me.

    • @nicoleleung3518
      @nicoleleung3518 3 роки тому +3

      @@Hynxoul yes I go to that market! It just pales in comparison to the Asian markets back home. Ranch Foods Direct has a lot of different meats. A little limited on organs, but I sent them a message about special ordering other organs since they work so closely with their producers.

    I live in Southern CA and we have a lot of Mexican meat markets that sell chicken and beef parts. I am able to get most of what I need at one stop. The only place on the west coast is Darwin’s who sell ground raw complete meals for cats and dogs. I prefer chopped meat because my cat is a rescue and tends to gulp down ground up food. I like her to chew her food. It’s better for her overall health. And she gets indigestion when she gulps.

    I dont remember ever seeing meat at Asian markets in Prague. Generally I’m pretty happy with the selection they have in the local supermarkets. Its easy to get pork, beef, chicken, Turkey, quail, rabbit, lamb, fish and seafood, also chicken drumsticks, wings, frames, necks, hearts, gizzards and liver. But recently I was told that supermarket sourced meat has a high chance of infecting your pet with salmonella, even if you freeze it. What do you think? My Alya never had an issue.

    Your video about fur being fiber is interesting. I notice both my dogs have each others and their own fur in their stool . Does that count ? My little 15 year old licks the floor all the time and that’s probably how she gets the fur . Wonder if she licks up the fur for fiber . Been feeding her home cooked meat and I’m gonna start out today giving her raw bites of beef liver . And I may give her a chicken foot . I’ve had some in the freezer, scared to give them to her . But her teeth are in awful shape from years of pate style dog food and her mouth is teeny tiny . She refuses teeth brushing . Do you think it’s safe to give an elderly 5 pound chihuahua a raw chicken foot ?

When I meal prep a week at a time (I have a puppy), should I separate and prepare everything in its frozen state and then let it defrost in the fridge or can/should they eat meat frozen? How long can it be in defrosted state and be okay do you think?

    Eek. I'm looking at the prices of the stuff you got. This seems somewhat affordable for a small dog. But I have a large dog - German shepherd and I feel like this would be more expensive to feed her than it would be to feed my human members of my family!
    I really want to do raw diet for my dog. But yikes on the cost.

      Not that expensive! i have a raw fed gsd as well and it's no more expensive that's bag of kibble! You don't have to buy expensive cuts or super rare, you'd be surprised! my local butcher has a weeks worth of chicken pancreas for .50 cents! Two pounds of liver for 1$, and a lot of chicken legs and wings for 5$ that'll last around a week! always give variety tho :)))

    When shopping at the grocery store, is it okay to get preground chicken and turkey? Every time I read the back of the package it says it has vinegar and rosemary or “natural flavors” in it. So I never get it. And is it also okay to buy preground beef? Would it be safer to get the kind that is ground and packaged in the store in a styrofoam tray or the prepackaged kind like in the plastic rolls or plastic trays? For some reason it makes me nervous and I end up buying slices or chunks and grinding it in a food processor instead. This is for my cats btw. 2 of them will not eat chunks only ground. They have no health problems that prevent them from doing so they just don’t like to.

    • @PawsofPrey
      @PawsofPrey  3 роки тому +1

      Yes with deer you need to make sure the deer in your area aren't susceptible to chronic wasting disease. If the deer are suspected, I wouldn't feed it. Also, I don't feed liver from deer either because of liver flukes - they're freeze resistant!

    Hey, if anyone can help me with an issue, i don't currently have a dog but I am planning for it and researching what raw foods i would be able to find easily where I live, and I have a problem finding a second secreting organ that would be affordable for me and easily accessible, i was wondering if there was a way around it? Maybe if I supplemented a bigger variaty of vegetables or if it would be okay to not feed it every month?

    • @elenadejesus7489

      Not a good idea to feed a large amount of veggies to supplement secreting organs. Raw feeding Miami can send you Monster Mash which includes secreting organs. Also BJ's raw food for pets

    Hi quick question! Hopefully going to adopt a dog this upcoming week from a local shelter. Do you recommend immediately switching to raw? I'm sure the food they feed at the shelter is pretty bad so I figured even if I had to switch him to a kibble first, before raw, it'd still take a transition period to a different ("nicer") kibble.. Thanks!

    • @Fire91ful
      @Fire91ful 3 роки тому +1

      Check out her transition videos shouldn't be diff from a shelter dog. Moat dogs have a little troubles with organ meat. My adopted dog left it but then i gave it to him like treat for sotring and 2 tries he ate it.

      @@Fire91ful I figured shelter dogs would be fed a certain type of kibble.. So I didn't know if I should cold turkey switch or not. But since I'm in an apartment it'd be a little riskier to cold turkey if there's stomach issues.. Thanks!

      @@Alexd11002 well
      Cold turkey ia more fpr younger dogs and basically you start small and you build it up. You can start them on probiotics and digestion enzymes to help their gut. It takes a month or 2 to transition. Idk if you found her video but you start with chicken for a week or 2 then next meat then next then organ one at a time then fish last. Quantity doesnt chnage just ratio. You cam even start as a snack.

    you're super privileged to live in an area like that. SC has fuck all for this kind of stuff.

    • @bunniesbunniesbunnie
      @bunniesbunniesbunnie 3 роки тому +1

      And I say this as someone who lives in SC farm country. The poor af hunters use every inch of the deer and keep everything. The poor af farmers charge $8.99 per pound for meat and are feeding their own dogs the livers and whatnot and refuse to sell them to basically anybody. The city has some options (largely asian markets), but it's an hour and a half drive from my place; and with COVID, they're often out of stock of a lot.
      I can't fathom someone giving away rabbit haunches like that. Holy crap. They'd want $12.99 a pound, minimum, at the weak farmers markets near here. And they'd look at you like were you crazy if you asked for hearts, livers, kidneys, etc. "We throw that stuff away, it isn't worth our time" or "our dogs get that" is what I'm met with 100% of the time.
      I've been on a trek looking for turkey liver. Either they all throw it away, are 3 hours away (one way!), or they laugh at me and refuse to order it because I "only" want 10 pounds.
      This place blows or you're in a super amazing area. Both, maybe.
