You can’t expect someone to read your mind and then get mad when don’t. Like the saying goes “closed mouths don’t get fed” Now after you have communicated what you need/want and have to keep repeating yourself, well then you might have a problem.

But what she realized was that she already spends a ton of time at home, so her leisure activities involve going out to places. My dad already spends a ton of time _outside_ the home for work, so _his_ idea of leisure tends to be chilling at home! So it's not gonna be intuitive for him to suggest the sorts of things she would prefer doing. Instead of waiting on him and being mad and frustrated because he's not thinking the same way she is, she has to just take the initiative and let him know when there's stuff she would like to go do. It kinda reminds me of the love languages thing. It's not necessarily that someone doesn't care; it may be that they have different ways of expressing it, and the ways that make sense to you might not even make sense to them. Like Snow just mentioned that the flowers are just an analogy and she's really not into flowers. So for someone who loves flowers or thinks they're the perfect gift, there's gonna be a disconnect there and they're gonna have to actually talk to each other and find out the other's perspective. Like you might be wanting verbal comfort when you're hurting, and the other person might tend to stay silent, because they think of it like, "Well nothing I say here is actually going to fix this, so it's silly to give you some empty 'There, there, it's okay' speech, dude." So you think they're being cold or unsupportive when he or she is actually just trying to avoid doing the stuff they know would be upsetting/aggravating to them.
It takes two. You need to express how you feel appreciated and what that entails. A reminder for your partner now and again is something nice you can do for them but they also need to follow through if they care about you.

If you have to say to your partner, why don't you think to do something sweet like bring me flowers, or cook me dinner, or you know I get tense a back rub would really help me, and would be sweet to do etc, then only after telling them all of these things they THEN do it, it's pretty much meaningless.
