Actually, lions are different from other cats in that they are social predators and can form social bonds, unlike tigers, etc. That makes them emotionally more similar to dogs in befriending people.
This one, however, seems afraid of being hit the way he flinches when they raise their hand, as one of the other comments mentioned. Maybe he will lose his temper on them...

As for the insinuation that the lion is being abused, well, I agree with you there. That baby tap didn't affect the lion but putting them in this scenario at all is abuse in itself. People can't help themselves but to try and make a pet out of predators, which ultimately ends badly for them and the animal.
Actually, they’re extremely predictable because these scenarios almost always end the same way (someone dies or is severely maimed beyond repair)

Yo man. Fun fact. There are more lions that are pets in Texas then there are in all the wilds of the rest of the world. And youre 100 percent right its a dangerous game. But you would be suprised how many are just like this one, giant house cats. Male Lions are actually extremely chilled out. In the wild as a male he would mate and sleep all day til a younger male was able to take him out. In captivity they dont have to worry, and adapt the family into a pride. The Tigers in texas are way scarier imo. They always are 1 bad move away from trouble. Meanwhile my buddy sleeps with his lion and the lion has a pet bunny named dinner. They love each other.😅😅😅
He honestly, if he wasn’t going to be as king of the pride, he’d more than likely died in the wild. Life is hard for male lions and they are super vulnerable to death if they aren’t head of a pride
