One of your very best episodes....Excellent advice on silhouettes ( and some beautiful examples) and what an Epic from Marcus, professionally produced , with his signature dry humour but with a real sense of his commitment to the shot , and what a peak it is !
you all probably dont give a shit but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot the account password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
@Edison Dean thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm trying it out now. Seems to take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
Taking up photography as a hobby a few years ago.,.. How hard could it be to press a shutter button?!?... At that time, I never realised that there was so much effort/dedication required to get to the place where the button would be pressed! V's how unfit I was!! ...I do now of course.. A massive "Well done" Marcus. You consolidate your place as a hero of mine. Showing the dedication required to get the shot... You demonstrated what we all need to do. But few of us will... The efforts required to capture something no-one else has... Most of us will fall short... Well done you!!... Twice over.
Thanks very much Ivan, although “hero” is something I am not. Heroes put their lives in danger for the good of others. I just take photos for the purpose of enjoyment, so it’s hardly in the same league. I’m happy that you appreciate the effort I put in, but for me, this is the enjoyment of photography - the challenge of getting the elusive shot. You don’t necessarily have to be fit to achieve this (obviously you do if it’s mountain photography) but you do need to be dedicated and committed. Thanks very much for watching and for taking the time to comment. All the best (Marcus).
Dedication and traveling along the path LESS TRAVELED...My pre dawn inspiration as I start my day...ever so thankful for your wonderful channel filled with the promise for me of new places to explore as well as new travels, thank you for taking us along in this world of limited access and lockdowns, hoping one day to wander the hills and valleys of Scotland while I still can, stay blessed...
I can’t believe how Marcus makes a 4 hour hike into the mountains sound like a walk in the park! So much so he goes back again a few days later. Respect to you Marcus.
It was absolutely fantastic and yes, the mountains on Skye have nothing to hide, quite the opposite. They are of an unexceptional beauty. Thank you for your efforts and the wonderfull video. I appreciate!
The things we do for our art. An epic trip in the hope of getting the shot you need. I would have been happy to get the initial shot Marcus obtained but such dedication to a cause.
Most excellent episode! It really underscored some of the efforts behind great landscape photography. I know of the discomfort that accompanies a good shoot, only to hear a prospective client remark, "I could have done that with my iPhone." Right. "So get off yer lard arse and do it," I think to myself. Speaking of which, out of curiosity, I Googled "contents of pork pie." After reading it twice, I fell asleep. Brilliant! On my next photo outing, I'm printing out the description and taking it with me.
“The longest and coldest night in the history of camping!” I loved that line and enjoyed Marcus’s segment in the snow. Beautiful images even though the ultimate vision could not be achieved this time.
Suilven would be a good contender but I’ve never seen a really dramatic shot of it in the right conditions. We can see it from here on Skye, so it’s not far away!
As you were rounding up at the end of the video, I was just about to comment that the more difficult the challenge, the more satisfying it is in getting the shot but you beat me to it 😂. The images you captured Marcus were stunning and the mono versions were incredible.
As one who loves hiking and photography I can appreciate how much effort and commitment it took to go on the journey that Marcus went on. The photos you took were really amazing and I am glad you got the photo you wanted to get, especially hiking through the night. Your show is an inspiration for me and now I have to put my thinking cap on to try and capture a silhouette photo! Thanks again for all the great shows and look forward to next months episode.
Great effort for shots of the mountain. I’ve not been to any of these famous mountains. But I have been to Kosciusko , Kota Kinabalu, Fuji, Denali, Antartica & NZ, regrettably all before I got back into photography and owning a DSLR. Now in lockdown and international travel looking more & more into the future I wonder if I will ever get the opportunity. A long wish list. “Improvise, adapt & overcome” as a US marine will say. So thanks for the lesson on light. Keep safe & well all.
A beautiful long exposure night shot of your illuminated tent in front of the mountain. That picture alone was worth the trip. Another great episode and as always, looking forward to the next one.
Thoroughly enjoyed this eposide with Marcus's overnight trip to capture the landscape and light (sunrise on this occasion). It would be great to see some more of this type of content. Outstanding show, keep up the good work guys. Thank you.
Great show as usual! Respect to Marcus for both overnight shots...having been inspired by Pinnacle ridge (Knights peaks) for years, I also think that view is worth the effort. I’m very impressed with the In_Pinn in snow shot (I’ve never seen it totally white). God I miss Skye. Thanks for sharing all the views!
The "what's in my bag" would be most relevant to those who haven't wild camped in wild places. Some mention of fluids, first aid and navigation kit might have been helpful to them.
Hi George. Fluids came from the river. You shouldn’t be out if you need navigation kit in these conditions. We’ve done a feature all about mountain safety in the past so we don’t want to repeat ourselves. We’ll also be doing a specific feature on mountain photography in a couple of months. Thanks for watching.
Another great show as usual. What an epic journey for Marcus and brilliantly presented considering the conditions. I was absolutely gutted for him not to get the images he wanted with the light, but still he got some fantastic shots. Amazing image with the tent lit up with the brilliant backdrop. Congratulations again Marcus for achieving this for all of us to see and hope the next time you get up there the light will be in your favour. Also i enjoyed the rest of the show.
This was truly an excellent show. All of it! The trek that Marcus did twice and the end results were outstanding. This content just keeps getting better. If you don't get to 100K very soon I will be surprised. Cheers
Marcus the next time you are out camping by yourself and no internet consider the Amazon’s Kindle book app. You can download the book before you leave home and then you have something to do when you cannot sleep.
Enjoying the bite sized twice monthly shows! And that was a solid show of dedication to the art walking and camping and then going back for that elusive shot!
Another absolutely cracking episode. The 30 minute/twice per month format works well I think. Can I challenge you to get a pork pie into every shot for the next episode? In the bag...what was the tent you were using...it looked sooooo compact. Gareth
Funny how 'Sods Law' and landscape photography seem to go hand in hand! Sterling effort Marcus well done, glad you got the results in the end. Another great show - thankyou guys.
Well better late than never 😂 great to see the merchandise on sale ( so wishing there was a cap available, serial cap wearer ) but beggars can't be choosers just glad to be able to promote the great show. Marcus you never fail to amaze, your professionalism knows no bounds that's not saying the rest of the crew are inferior just a great bunch with a great show keep up the good work and stay safe. 📷 👍
I just happened across this channel and after watching this episode I've now subscribed and I'll be catching up on missed episodes. It's great to see something more like a programme and less like a UA-cam video. Great work and thank you! 🙂

Landscape photography at its best! Hope Marcus you had, water, and a GPS tracker with you for the SAR service to come and get you. Excellent video with a 'what's in my camera bag' a bonus. The moon rise image is stunning !!!
I'm sorry I missed this on Sunday , what a fab show and the images of the mountain certainly had the wow factor ! Amazing , always informative and interesting thank you 👍
Gosh! Talk about commitment. 6 hours of walk in cold weather. 15 hours of boringness in a freezing tent and living on three cold pork pies and if that wasn't enough, back some days later. My hat off.
Another classic show, beautifully presented, great flow and rhythm..... I loved the camping shots and can on,y imagine how beautiful that location would be for Astrophotography. Just remind me not to go camping on top of a mountain in Winter. Great job Marcus....
Hello Photography Online Team, another great video with good content. Congratulations to Marcus for his efforts to capture his photograph it showed passion and persistence. Thanks for sharing and continue to stay safe 😷
Another great episode guys, was hugely impressed by Marcus's commitment to getting the shot he set out for, although 3 x Pork Pies is maybe not the most nutritious food he could have taken with him! Looking forward to the live webinar in a couple of weeks. Thanks again.
Cheers Bob. Pork pies are one of the highest calorific foods available - far better than chocolate. Many mountain rescue units swear by them. See you on Mc2 Live next Sunday. All the best. Marcus
@@PhotographyOnline thanks Marcus, I didnt know that but I'll use that in my defence next time my wife gives me earache when I eat them. I love them, but she reckons they are high in fat and therefore not good for weight control. Just signed up for next week.
I really enjoyed the " Whats in my bag section " !! oh and the little overnight trip was pretty good. Seriously, the images of the mountains were stunning, The black and white images really stood out, Then to hike back in days later, hats of to you for that but glad you got the results you were after , well worth your hard work to get there , twice, well done !
Another fantastic episode I especially love the scene at 26:35. Magazine and essential skill are both great. Silhouettes topic was also really well done and helpful
Well done Marcus, that’s what I call dedication, stunning views/photos, loved them. I also enjoyed the segment on silhouettes. Keep up the good work and I’m looking forward to the next episode.
Great show. Stunning mountain images. Impressive to hike in that cold weather 🥶 and film at same time. Look forward to see the various silhouette images in future episode. 💪
Fantastic - the best episode yet! The Sgurr nan Gillean photo walk was brilliant, and the resulting pictures were amazing! The only other mountain in Britain that I could think of that might look similar is Sgurr na Ciche possibly? Would Sgurr nan Gillean look even better with a long telephoto from the slopes of Blaven? Or what about from the summit of Sgurr a Bhasteir or Sgurr na h-Uamha? I envy you being able to go and see!! Thanks so much all of you for providing this fantastic programme - a genuine highlight in a rather frustrating year!
Hi Rachel. Thanks for your kind comments. The view from Blaven is great, but it's too elevated and distant to give that imposing feel needed to make a mountain took dramatic. Bhasteir is too close and too elevated. There's one other location which I will go to check out in the summer for the potential of going back next winter, but if that's not better than the one I got here, then I think this will be as good as it gets. Thanks for watching. (Marcus)

Hi Matthias. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to pass on your feedback. We hope you continue to enjoy our shows. Please help us to spread the word to more people. All the best.
I absolutely love your show. I look forward to it every month but can you make it 2 hours long haha. something I would like some advice on is wedding photography. I am a landscape photographer but wedding photography pays bills. Just something you can have in the bag for a future show maybe! keep up the brilliant work and it's not a show without you presenting it. you are very good in my opinion tbh.
You guys really go out of your way to get the shot and i love it. I could never access these places my self and this is definitely the next best thing. Thanks guys :)
Respect Marcus, epic shoot in every sense and solo filming it for us too. Appreciate the effort you made for us and glad you got the epic shots to share. | particularly liked the time-lapse as the sun set and the lighting on the tent as night set in - any chance you can tell us how you filmed that?
Hi f22. The night sequence was really quite simple... I just filmed the 3 minutes it took to set the tent up as it was getting dark and then kept the camera fixed on the tripod until it got dark and then filmed another 20 seconds. I then simply did a cross fade between the two clips. Easy huh?
I have quite a few cameras (mostly Canon) and the 5DSR is one of my favorites. Such a sharp lens. I've also got a Hasselblad and prefer the 5DSR. Great choice mate.
When camping, as you already have your phone, install the kindle reader software or download some audio books. I'd go for audio books then you lie down in your sleeping bag.
Another great show! I watched it in bed last night with my headphones on. Unfortunately I woke my wife up after laughing out loud at Marcus's "The only thing I have to read is the ingredients of a Pork pie " comment. 😂 Still giggling at it this morning knowing that he may have read it a second time 🤣
Brilliant show - especially Marcus’s solo mountain package - question about how he did the pieces to camera: mobile phone on selfie stick or Canon on monopod? And, how did he get such great audio without sign of mic?
Hi Locharl. Marcus here. I used a lav mic but it was just well hidden (not intentional). Most of the footage was filmed on a GoPro on a selfie stick, but there were parts filmed on the camera I had with me to shoot the main photo too. Thanks for watching.
Hi Team! This was an amazing video and we especially enjoyed the segment that Marcus did. The images that he was able to create were stunning indeed! I am glad that you have started to bring on some 'merch' as I will be very happy to wear this when I am in the UK in the fall. Looking for to the next video and Mc2 LIVE webinars. Keep up the great work and wonderful content for your videos. Cheers, Keith
Excellent content (as usual) and very well edited (as usual). My wife thinks me getting up early for a sunrise pic is extreme. I'll get her to watch Marcus taking a pic :) Thanks

Great story and content. The production your channel has evolved to be even better then the launch. Congrats!
Glad you know we’re going in the right direction Gary. Thanks for watching as always.
On a Sunday afternoon, where Scotland lose to Ireland in the final few minutes, you guys brightened up the day! Great stuff Marcus, loved that piece!
Hi Andy. If you get on a downer every time Scotland lose in sport then you’re in for a bad time! 🤦🏼♂️
Hi Shane. Did you see our June 2020 show? It started with a feature about elopement photography. Thanks for watching.
You guys really go out of your way to get the shot and i love it. I could never access these places my self and this is definitely the next best thing. Thanks guys :)
Glad you enjoy our show. Thanks for watching.
Great show! Never miss an episode!
Good to know Jim. All the best.
Another great episode. Thanks.
Thanks for your continued support Trevor. Glad you enjoyed this one.
Easy huh?
Fantastic episode, yet again.! Can't beat pork pies for breakfast, food of champions.! Great set of images over both trips, well worth the long walk.
Cheers Lee. Thanks for watching again. Next time we’ll be venturing into your territory with panoramics.
I have quite a few cameras (mostly Canon) and the 5DSR is one of my favorites. Such a sharp lens.
I've also got a Hasselblad and prefer the 5DSR. Great choice mate.
Hooray 💛💛💛 eagerly waiting as usual 🙏🙏🙏
When camping, as you already have your phone, install the kindle reader software or download some audio books. I'd go for audio books then you lie down in your sleeping bag.
Good idea.
Another great show! I watched it in bed last night with my headphones on. Unfortunately I woke my wife up after laughing out loud at Marcus's "The only thing I have to read is the ingredients of a Pork pie " comment. 😂 Still giggling at it this morning knowing that he may have read it a second time 🤣
Please pass on my apologies to your wife! (Marcus).
Thank you so much for your continued support Keith.
Excellent content (as usual) and very well edited (as usual). My wife thinks me getting up early for a sunrise pic is extreme. I'll get her to watch Marcus taking a pic :) Thanks
Hope it helps!
Another great show!! It brought back so many happy memories of walking in the Cuillins of Skye. I am now planning a trip for later on in the year. Great job, and thank you :-)
Thanks for watching Simon.
Whoop! can't wait!
