I read online somewhere that the co author of Norman Geislers most recent book on Catholicism ended up converting shortly after the book published. I believe his name was Joshua bethancourt, anyone hear this too?
There certainly were a lot of ads here. I’m sure the last 2/3rds was great but my thumbs got tired bypassing the ads so I’ll just have to use my imagination.
Sorry Wal! Google adds those automatically. I can usually catch them and remove them but I sometimes miss it. It’s unreal how many they try to add! My apologies!
My favorite quote from Doug: Sola scriptura doesn't work if you don't know what the bible is, where is came from, and you don't know how to read it, and you are applying what you already think to scripture.
Sola scriptura is a praxis, a standard for measuring true doctrine from false. We are never told or encouraged to remain as babes in Christ but to mature. 2 Tim 2:15 'study to show yourself approved of God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed handling accurately the word of God.' The bible is very clear that we can indeed handle Gods word accurately. But it requires study. Sola scriptura just says the bible is our highest and final authority. When we see doctrines that are contradictory to it, we throw them away.
@@ContendingEarnestly there are a multitude of issues with sola scriptura. I deal with some big ones here. I welcome your feedback on each of my points. www.thelatinright.com/2021/03/the-historically-untenable-fiction-of.html?m=1
@@ContendingEarnestly Expanding the referent while limiting the scope of bibles verses in favor of sola scriptura. The history of the Canon cannot support sola scriptura. This is all spelled out in more detail in the link I gave you.
Wait a minute, don't say we never read the Bible.... Pentecost is Our (The Catholic Church) Birthday; The Mass came before the Bible was written. The Bible came to be about 250 to 300 yrs after Christ death. The Catholic Church put the Bible together it's our book. The Bible was handwritten, and protected, they didn't have the printing press yet. The Mass is the Bible, the greatest gift given thru the Ministerial Priesthood (the true body and true blood of His son Jesus Christ) given at Holy Communion to us from God. The rosary is a prayer of the lives of Jesus and Mary it's in the Bible. The priest teaches the Gospels at Mass from the Bible. You throw that saying around that Catholics don't read the Bible, that's not nice, but what we are is saturated in the Bible and by God's grace go forth and live it. JMJ❤
I get it. Sola Scripture has to be caricatured and discredited as a way to avoid accountability for those dogmas which are clearly unbiblical. Destroy Sola Scriptura and elevate Sola Ecclesia. I get it.
" This won't have baptism, that denies the efficacy of the Lord's supper; a third puts a world between this and the last judgment; others teach that Jesus Christ is not God; some say this, others that; and there are almost as many sects and beliefs as there are heads." This was Martin Luther regretting Sola Scriptura.
Catholicism, like all religions, offers a works-based salvation. Do this, don't do that and maybe youll make it to Heaven. WRONG!!!!! The early church Believed in The Lord Jesus Christ's Shed Blood on the Cross as FULL Payment for All their sins. Mary got saved the same way, by Beliving in Jesus Christ as her Savior. Before you decide you'll be innocent in court you'd better know what the Law is. God gave us The Ten Commandments to show us His Standard and to reveal our utter helplessness to reach it and to point us to His Son Jesus Christ. God says there is NO ONE who does Good not even one and that the wages of sin is death and that without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. You stand Gulty as Charged and have the death penalty. Sin is an archery term and it means to miss the perfect bullseye. Miss even a tiny bit and you have sinned. Look at God's Law and you will know you are a sinner. But WAIT! Here's The GOOD NEWS Proclaimed throughout The whole Bible! Jesus laid down His Eternal Glory, took on Human Flesh, and willingly went to the Cross to shed His Blood as Payment in FULL for All your sins! He Rose again the 3rd day exactly as He said He would. Eternal Life is God's FREE GIFT to be Freely received! You can do absolutely nothing to earn or deserve or keep your salvation. It's All Jesus. Pure Grace. You 100% WILL stand before Jesus one day, either as Savior or Judge. Either Innocent because your sins are Covered by Jesus's Blood and going to Heaven OR Guilty as Charged as your life is Judged by God's Law The Ten Commandments and going to Hell Forever. The choice is yours. God will not take you against your will. You can Pray to Jesus right now right where you are, admitting you are a sinner and believing that Jesus Paid for All your sins with His Blood and Rose again! Tell The Lord Jesus you are saying YES to what He already did for you and placing All your faith in Him! Jesus will save you instantly and never ever let you go! John 3:16 is the Heartbeat of the whole Bible! No good works will get you into Heaven or keep you out of Hell. Nothing but The Blood of Jesus! 💖💖💖
