    Thank you! ONE way to help beat this huge problem is for individuals to be encouraged to invent other ways to fly , etc. etc. I believe there are inventors in our world who with enough protection will come out of the woodwork with amazing solutions. They have before but were discouraged, killed or had no money. Keep talking inventors, protection and funding. Turn anger into invention...get their minds going! They are out there! My grandfather invented the 4 hour Petri dish v.s. 4 days...in the 'olden' days.

      Congratulations. I mean it. But the protest in XR has its cradle in fear, knowledge and the fact that nothing has changed till today. With 425ppm CO2 in the atmosphere. I invented to stop driving. I just hope that those inventors still can breath when they finished a job. A lot of planes have difficulties to fly in the hot humid air and the weels melt in the tarmac. Of course, it's not in the papers. We have invented electric cars, electric planes!but the oil companies are lobbying in all the ways they can because the whole financial system is built on pylons of oil. Sorry that they were killed. By XR? So sad. I wish them the best and ask the BBC or whatever for the right attention that it deserves. They must find a stunt, something that amazes people in the street(something ludic, funny surprising) and before you know, the camera is on you. It is really knocking now. There is no time left

    What he said about us as a species resonated with me unless we have common unity and caring for each other we just won't be a force for good. It means we must do the inner work discover our essence and potentials that come with that. The Quagmire of disfunction exists because most don't recognise the big political picture that we are inextricably linked to.

    I'm in the States (they're no longer "united" so, I won't even go with that lie). It's frightening to see my fellow educators, who should know better, are willing to throw their lives to the risk of COVID, for the sake of a paycheck or an ever-elusive "retirement". Considering they're doing this at the behest of a diagnosed psychopath's re-election strategy and under the smug, hugely ignorant, scowl of one Betsy DeVos... just adds to my angst. I'm encouraging them to leave it, just go online and independent, and teach what's always been in their hearts to teach: things like home economics, gardening, and bugger the state's pieces of paper that label someone as "graduated" or this or that arbitrary designation. Best of luck to us all!

    Climate change is the COST of money. We need a new economic system.

    • @thantwin8802
      @thantwin8802 5 років тому +1

      Climate change is not solely “ the COST of money” although that is what ER may want you to believe. The planet’s history of climate change is seen in the ice cores extracted by scientists. The ice cores indicate that there have been 12 such events in the history of the planet with 5 of them bringing about mass extinction of life on the planet - the last event took about 95% of all life forms. As conditions yet again slowly changed life returned in its many forms. It’s a natural occurrence - the planet is in a constant state of flux. We as a society can reduce our emissions into the atmosphere and slow the process but we cannot stop it. Doesn’t the power of nature make one feel frail and inadequate - simply another life form. Cheers

      People are just so good at making their own truths. "Wanting others to believe"; "they are from the other group, so they can only be wrong", "they will believe it, of course, It is not true". I understand this because of the malaise with Trump and other politicians. Just stay honest to yourself and explain what you mean. And the others may not judge as long as they haven't try to understand. The result of hurricanes and typhoons, the result of bad agriculture what leads to war, these are the real costs that will come. I see in Social Media. A lot of people work volunteering and even continue when they are severely ill as I notice. They take it to the heart. I think that I'm partly right. The costs of money if you mean that greed money causes those disasters yep right

Just, today start recycling, every small thing, for big ideas can come from that. Stop looking at the economic system and give it another name, and ideas will flow for those who can get out of their heads and get their hands busy. Sharing in new physical activity, hands off line will help.All of Gretas kids are raw and ready to help build communitys that work for survival nearby. Now there is a reason to put down the phones get off our backsides and work together. You will see.

    Our world has entered the dark heart of an age of fundamental change beyond anything in all of its tumultuous history. Its peoples ,of whatever race, nation or religion, are being challenged to subordinate all lesser loyalties and limiting identities to their oneness as citizens of a single planetary homeland.
    In the words of Baha"u'llah [ in the 1800s] "The well being of mankind, its peace and security, are unattainable unless and until its unity is firmly established.
    The Bahai faith have been building a new form of government since the 1800s to take over when the current systems collapse. This new way is built on spiritual principles unlike our current systems which were built on materialistic principles which was always doomed to fail

So the papers must emphasis the niceties. A happy future, economically. No problem if you mention the floods in Djibouti. But this will become hard for those enterprises. I read that the banks must 'promote" "motivate" green, or they can be in trouble.

    I actually lived a bit of my childhood in country where wealth was distributed fairly between everybody. But also people were shot at borders, who wanted to leave, and often times there was no toilet paper or cloth, so another experiment with money system/government would rather pass and go through patient tuning of the system. Corporations can be psychopatic, but socialist like dimension of XR is probably reason, why so many people has problem with XR, because main focus is some kind of revolution, and ecology as the second priotity.. as also one of the XR founders pointed out recently.

    'adapting fairly' is not going to happen. As long as the people in charge of such an adaptation are the same elites who have been running the country for centuries they will always lookout for themselves and their own (their wealthy corporate friends). Sooner or later people have to stop asking politely and seize power from them, by whatever means necessary.

      One thing I feel is missing from this very valid point is the evolving consciousness in which we 'swim'. The examples quoted here are historical and emotive; it's a trap to be caught in the vibrations and frequencies of those times. We now have so many ways of connecting vibrationally ( it' physics, innit - everything is vibrating, moving, therefore constantly changing) and it is possible for human beings to connect and share helpful vibes in support of change. Anyone can be reached. Music, song and sound are fine examples of this mechanism. Never lose hope, and if you've lost it just remember that it's ok to return to it. X

    • @OngoingDiscovery
      @OngoingDiscovery 5 років тому +2

      Fergus Ryan to quote Jem Bendell himself: “”hopelessness” is understandably feared but wrongly assumed to be entirely negative and to be avoided whatever the situation... however, the range of ancient wisdom traditions see a significant place for hopelessness and despair... the loss of a capability, loved one or a way of life, or a terminal diagnosis have all been reported, or personally experienced, as a trigger for a new way of perceiving self and world, with hopelessness being a necessary step in this process.”
      We must surrender hope to realise we have no option other than to fight back. Hope is what keeps us docile and compliant.
      Hope indicates a lack of agency. For example; I do not hope I will eat this evening. I’m just going to eat this evening. I do hope that on my way back from work I don’t get hit by a drunk driver, because that’s outside of my control. When you allow yourself to hope we can survive the climate collapse, you surrender your agency. Instead, surrender your hope and retain your agency. Then fight like your life depends on it, because it does.

      Absolutely agree. Climate change is only one of a multitude of converging crisis. One thing that bothers me about XR is the assumption of an essential core of decency in the institutions running things. Living in the USA, it is painfully obvious that this assumption is erroneous. There is a good argument and substantial and innumerable proofs of the malice and utter psychopathy of our government, intelligence agencies, armed forces, corporate and financial institutions. I’m not going to say more. All this will become painfully obvious even to the most naive in fairly short order.

    I do not dispute the climate situation, but these people should get real about workable solutions that would not cause economic collapse followed by anarchistic chaos. Let's have a workable roadmap, for the UK (and globally) that will have a positive effect, or is this movement's capacity limited to disruption and annoying other people. Perhaps if, as their leader Roger Hallam claims, they have general public support, they should try to get themselves elected at the upcoming general election.

    • @AWindy94

      Economic collapse is virtually unavoidable at this point it's a matter of weather we are proactive or reactive to the events brought on by climate change. Do we bring about this change ourselves, despite the difficulties, or do we adjust to change after being forced to deal with the devistating (possibly civilization collapsing) global realities of climate change?

    • @stevepetty7009

      @Donald McCarthy You are right. I do believe there are solutions to alleviating the problem. If extinction rebellion do not think there is a solution then why cause all the aggrevation!! For many I feel it is a way they can assert themselves... Roger Hallam included.
      We can do things. But we should not destroy industries and jobs without time to adjust. t is good to keep a perspective when thinking about blocking Heathrow Airport.. I agree with ER in all it represents. But people may not only be scared. Is everyone thinking about her/her carbon footprint(I don't ask people with already enough problems)? Everyone must do an effort!! A sacrifice of their daily habits. Again in Belgium, 2 right-winged parties have dominated the people and continue scaring people. The spread of cancer of hate. The political delegation of Radio-Television has 6 members. 3 are right-winged and want to use the media for propaganda. I had to cry when I read this. It's the worse that can happen and I'm still so sad inside, very sad. I even see different behaviour by the people We will protest in Brussels. I worked there too: 2400 people. Am I right that the truth is nowhere to find because of whatever media loses its sponsors by telling the truth? Those banks, insurances, big companies "do not want to belong to global warming". I wish I could change that. If the VRT goes on strike to protest, we must occupy national radio and television to help them. Is there a branch of RI in Belgium and other countries imprisoned by right-winged monsters? Thanks for the warmhearted walk, penguin.

      Water vapor and fine soot from burning jet fuel that freeze and become visible behind airplanes. Some people (wrongly) believe they are some dangerous chemical that has a nefarious purpose.

      When UK "cleans its act", obviously it must either forbid ecological dumping (importation of stuff that is not produced ecologically) OR put enormous tariffs on such products or services. This will force all other countries who want to export stuff to go the ecological way too, if powerful nations like the UK only import ecological stuff. The effect will get even bigger if other powerful nations do it too. Anyway, importation & exportations must drastically diminish to save energy & resources...

      The UK has outsourced a lot of it's emissions to China. China is the workshop of the World. Yes China is a top emitter, but it is also a top manufacturer. The problem is complex 🤷‍♀️

      Lol, do you think they are having fun in Bagledesh or Africa with climate change. We have a global economy. The UK does not have enough land to grow enough food to feed it's population. What happens in the rest of the world will affect the UK.
