The one thing that I'm worried about and the reason why I'm still hesitant and that I think you should mention in your full-review: - The water tank on the robot is NON-USER replaceable. This is outrageous to me. Because long term, you may start to get buildup of bacteria/gunk which will eventually clog up the water system.
@@MrRoombato At the very least, I hope they have some "water cycle" functionality where you can put some cleaning solution in the clean-water tank and it cycles that to the robots water tank which then goes to the dirty water tank. Maybe you can say that in your review too because your voice is louder and Evovacs might be listening. Ecovacs can push this update over the air.
@@de_stroyed I'm not sure what you mean. Can you explain? Right now, you can put cleaning solution into the clean water tank, and it will do its job on the pads and end up in the dirty water tank.
@@MrRoombato Okay, sorry if what I said didn't make any sense. Now, I'm not entirely sure if Ecovacs has this feature, but basically, I'm hoping for a way to put a cleaning solution in the clean water tank (let's say this is apart of your weekly maintenance with the robot). Once the cleaning solution is in the clean water tank, you then go on your phone, open the Ecovacs app and click on a button that says "Cycle water system" (something among those lines). What this would do is: pump the clean water tank (that now has the cleaning solution) into the robot's water tank until it's full and then it instantly dumps all that into the dirty water tank. It does this on repeat automatically for about 4-5 times (or so). So basically it self-cleans the water tank without ever leaving its base station. I'm not sure if that's what you meant. If it has this feature already, I'll go ahead and buy it.
@@de_stroyed Oh! Okay, I get it. No, it can't do that. I don't know if it's possible to suck the water out of the robot's tank by reversing the pump. But...just running the robot as normal will cycle the solution through the tank.
Useful video, I wish more content creators returned to their robot vacuums to give an update at 6 months or a year later. Most of them work amazing out of the box but get little niggles at 12-18 months and I think that is a very important aspect to the consumer experience. How have you got on with the X1 so far? Still working for you? The Roborock is almost triple the price of this so I don't think I can justify such a difference. I'm also very hesitant of Dreame due to their connection with Xiaomi (have had bad experiences with their products, in particular the RoidMi line), though it is around the same price as this. Which is your preferred?
I still use it. Its mopping is still meh...it picks up dust and dirt well but it doesn't scrub the way the Roborock does. But its self empty system is better, the Roborock gets clogged with dog hair during shedding season.
@@MrRoombato Well I've just ordered it! Fingers crossed our experience is a positive one. Thank you for the videos and response - I've read many, MANY comments from you the last few days and they were very insightful/useful - I see you've even suggested alternative mopping pads that work better for this product, which is great. Going from a RoidMi Eve Plus I feel like this will be a big step up. Thanks again for your videos.
@@garrickfield3522 My pleasure. What didn't you like about the Eve Plus? This will definitely be a step up in every respect, except mopping (probably...don't know how good the Eve Plus mops).
@@MrRoombato well it is just very glitchy and eventually died. I know it's expected that we replace certain parts after prolonged use, but the apps (there's 2) that can be used for the Eve are utter garbage. Maps would disappear, the robot would appear offline and stop during cleaning, it wouldn't properly dock, it didn't follow instructions, just basically didn't work correctly. The strange thing is that it worked great for a year or so, but it quickly deteriorated and even with replacement batteries (among other things) it just doesn't hold up, largely because the apps are so poor. It's a real shame. The mopping was quite bad with it, we stopped using that function altogether. My parents have the Eve and they're also starting to have issues, it's like the internal memory gets full and the whole machine starts to give up. Very odd.
At this point, if you value mopping, my suggestion is to get rid of this robot and get the Roborock. Even the new plates don't change the results very much.
hello, great video thank you! I wanted to ask you, I do not receive notifications on my mobile about the status of ecovacs, before when I had irobot I received a notification when the robot finished cleaning or when it got stuck, with ecovacs it is not possible?

You can, but I haven't noticed a difference. Doesn't mean there isn't one. As for how, take a wet paper towel and wipe the floor and see what happens. It picks up a LOT of dirt.
Just got mine yesterday. Seems to mop good on one side. The other side makes swirls slightly on the floor but I can't spot any difference between those plates.
@@MrRoombato it's like lightly wet swirly patches. Seems to be other issues. The entire map got wiped out somehow and now the robot has to do it all over again. If it keeps going like this, the robot will soon be returned.
Piece of crap. It keeps forgetting the first map created and that should be in use. So it keeps returning to the station. AND I can't merge or divide areas on the new map 🤔
So, do you think this bot is as good as the Roborock S7 Max V? I absolutely love that bot, the ultra dock is supposed to be out in June and I'm thinking about getting it. I wish the X1 was available without the self empty dock or washing dock the way the Roborock is, the X1 series is still quite expensive. Here's another bot you may want to check out, the eufy Robovac X8, or the X8 hybrid if you want the mop feature, I got that a couple of weeks ago and it's great, and the app is quite accessible with speech, it's always a gamble with each bot I get, I never know how accessible the app will be when using Voiceover on my iphone. I also got the Dreametech L10, very similar to the Z10 but without the self empty base.
I think that the robot itself is as good, yes, but the software is not. I am primarily talking about the navigation algorithm. Also, the mopping is not as good unless you tinker with it or they change the docking station behavior.
@@MrRoombato There are a lot of reviews comparing the Roborock S7 Max V with the Ecovacs X1, most of them seem to favor the Roborock, I've only seen one that said the X1 was better. I'm going to skip the Ecovacs for now, it's much more expensive than most other bots, I wish they made a version without the self empty dock so it would be a bit cheaper, with the S7 Max, you can choose not to get the ultra dock or self empty dock and this allows you to get the robot at a cheaper price. Another bot I'm looking at is the Trifo Lucy, it really sounds interesting.

Hey, I have a question. Is it possible to vaccum carpet when pads are on? I know that it is impossible when mopping but maybe software can stop mopping and still continue just vacuum the carpet even if the carpet gets wet?
Hello, I’m currently undecided on the X1 OMNI and the S7 MaxV ultra, which robot would you recommend for hard floor mopping? I haven’t seen a review that goes into detail about how much residue is left after mopping, any advice would be appreciated.
I am currently filming/eding/etc a showdown between those two robots. Both are very good, but if mopping is your priority, you want the Roborock. No question.
@@pineshpatel3318 I went with the S7 MaxV ultra and honestly I couldn’t be happier with it! Only two rooms in my house are carpet and the rest is LVT and the mopping is brilliant, I have a big dog which loves to trail muddy paws prints through the house but having the Roborock go off daily and wash its mop after each room leaves the floors immaculate. The only downside I would say is the s7 isn’t that great on carpet with the standard rubber roller brush, I upgraded to the roborock Q5 roller brush which made a huge difference. Highly recommend taking the plunge and buying one.
Hi! Would you still provide a good review on this deebot? I have mine since 3 month, everything was ok till 2 month of use but now it cannot find anymore the station, and map is not stable (had to scan several times and redo the map). So I don’t use it anymore. Also the app has a lot to be improved for the map (cannot divide some room…).
Factory reset it, have it map again. Mine also conked out after a months and I had to do that and it's back to being good. Yeah, it's a good robot. It's not the best at mopping and it sucks if you have carpet but it gets the job done and is otherwise excellent.
I did it through my influencer contact but you're supposed to just be able to call or email customer service. I think any robot you bought in recent months would already have them. And honestly...they didn't make as much of a difference as I thought when I made that video. Aftermarket pads (any pads except OEM) made more of a difference. The OEM pads don't absorb water very well and what ends up happening is the water that comes out above them gets flung off.
Well it's not perfect (can't change the names of rooms as of the last time I tried, even though you're supposed to be) but it doesn't do any of the insane things IT STILL DOES for the T8/N8. So I think the app is good.
Ah icic. Damn I had already made the choice just 1 day ago to buy the Dreame W10. I don’t need the self empty bin feature but I was kinda thinking about going with the X1 Turbo or the Dreame W10. I am kinda tempted by the X1 Turbo for its better front facing sensors but went for the Dreame W10 because of worrying the mop issue, app issues and the higher cost.
Mr. Roombato, Have you ever had any issue with customer service of Ecovacs? DId you ordered it from Ecovac's website or from amazon? I have talked to them few times and it feels really weird customer service department as they talk in some Asian language in the back ground and there is no team of customer service representative. its just one man team. There is no supervisors or Managers who you can talk to. Even on the website there is no option to return this product. I am getting really bad vibes about this.
From the latest vacuum wars video. There was a test done for the overall efficiency of the obstacle avoiding robots. That was very interesting because nobody else really mentions the efficiency of the robots because they are all similar enough. I am aware that the newer gen robots from many companies now have a more adaptive route algorithm. Yet even though most robots tested were lidar, the ecovacs robots finished faster. I always imagined roborocks as the most efficient for some reason. This video would be annoying to make but not many people mention the efficiency of regular vacuums. It would be an original video idea to run maybe 6-7 of your favorite vacuums against each other on your main floor. and see who is the quickest. To prevent them from knocking into each other you would have to run them at different times and this is the annoying part. But I always wonder who is faster by a few minutes lol. It seems the ecovacs x1 has less navigation struggles than its fellow brothers. But does it really beat out the competition with efficiency?
I can tell you that the Roborock is much faster than the Ecovacs in my house, primarily because the Ecovacs struggles with its overly aggressive object recognition/avoidance. I don't know which would be faster with the AI turned off.
Mine used to continuously get an error of "wheels stuck" trmmed the 2 side brushes, no more problem. Also this robots navigation is really bad. If cleaning in auto mode and it can't get to an area of the map by a closed door it tried for ages to find "a way through" the door. Instead of cleaning to the door an accepting that it cant get accesd to the room it will keep trying to get in there. Also, it gets stuck in areas, why?
Thank You, Thank you. Your video here is well appreciated. Your honest review is always top notch. From my experience with Ecovacs (previous model/s), I went back to iRobot Roomba (S9 was a disaster for what it costs) i7 and now contemplating for J7 or Roborock 6 or 7 Ultra.. Ecovacs as sophisticated and gadgety it is, it just didnt do THE job as the Roomba i7 (I have 2) does/did. Roborock over and all I think is still better worked out than Ecovacs in General, and iRobot Roomba is even better/practical made and fool proofed engineered above the rest. Whats your opinion? The mop issue makes it all very complicated and tricky. I am willing to give up the mop and have the top notch model like Roborock with out mop hassle for whatever it is.
@@MrRoombato Agree. I have an i7 and a Roborock S4 and the Roborock navigates far better than the Roomba. And don't even get me started on the Bravajet M6. The navigation is a joke.
@@newsigmundfreud3023 That's not an easy question to answer, because it depends on what surface. Overall, the Roborock. But there are instances when an i7/j7 will clean better. But neither the Roborock or the Roombas are better or worse to any degree that matters. The user experience and capability are far more important. Do you like your vacuum running around during the day and getting under foot? No? Then don't get a Roomba. They can't clean at night. Do you fancy finding your Roomba after it gets lost somewhere every so often? No? Don't get a Roomba.
@@MrRoombato Thank you for your input. I appreciate it. Roomba J7 has a light to shine in front of it, sees and examines obstacles. Roborock rocks!.. but practically, Roombas still in a more solid corner.
There several things you can try. One, take out the dirty water tank, put it back in and press it down firmly. Two, clean the grate where the water drains with the brush, and three, unplug the dock and plug it back in. Try all three. Also make sure the clean water tank is firmly seated, but that's easier to do when it's full and usually isn't the problem.

Very odd.
@@garrickfield3522 I'm glad they didn't send me one to review! :)
How did you get these new mopping plates? I have questioned ecovac to see if my x1 has outdated mopping plates and they would not tell me or help me.
There should be a notifications options thing in the app. It is supposed to notify you.
Hello! Just got mine today. Can you measure the depth of the mopping plates where it inserts to the magnetic poles under the x1?
I will try to do that later today.
@@MrRoombato thanks! For the meantime i added 2mm of 3M double sided tapes to make the pads lower.
I noticed when i spilled coffee and it left noticeable mark in one pass. 2nd pass was good but 3rd pass removed the dried coffee stains
How does plain water clean the floor? Can you add cleaning solution to the water?
You can, but I haven't noticed a difference. Doesn't mean there isn't one. As for how, take a wet paper towel and wipe the floor and see what happens. It picks up a LOT of dirt.
@@MrRoombato Thank you for your reply. I just meant water doesn’t disinfect the floor. I’m sure our pets have dirty feet 🥹
@@mifflin4044 I don't know that the solution that you can use does a much better job of disinfecting. Just don't eat off the floor. :P
Just got mine yesterday. Seems to mop good on one side. The other side makes swirls slightly on the floor but I can't spot any difference between those plates.
Is it dry all the time or just in patches?
@@MrRoombato it's like lightly wet swirly patches.
Seems to be other issues. The entire map got wiped out somehow and now the robot has to do it all over again. But found out that it just somehow forgot the map and had to choose it again.
But it still has problems finding the designated area to clean. If it keeps going like this, the robot will soon be returned.
Piece of crap. It keeps forgetting the first map created and that should be in use. So it keeps returning to the station.
AND I can't merge or divide areas on the new map 🤔
@@Sailor_Zeb Sigh Ecovacs.
@@mikearrigo5674 I would avoid the Trifo Lucy.
@@MrRoombato Oh? I already ordered the pet version, I don't have pets but it has more power, does it have problems? It has gotten a lot of good reviews. Have you tried it?
@@mikearrigo5674 Yes, I have tried it, and I have not reviewed it. It's okay if it works, but mine had problems mapping and navigating my house. Try it out, if it works for you, it's fine.
Hey, I have a question. Is it possible to vaccum carpet when pads are on? I know that it is impossible when mopping but maybe software can stop mopping and still continue just vacuum the carpet even if the carpet gets wet?
I don't know if Ecovacs enabled that in the app, but I doubt it. In any case, last time I checked, no you can't.
@@MrRoombato Perfect! Look forward to the new video 👌🏻
Which robo vac did you end up getting? How is it working out with you?
How did you contact ecovacs to request new plates?
I did it through my influencer contact but you're supposed to just be able to call or email customer service. I think any robot you bought in recent months would already have them. And honestly...they didn't make as much of a difference as I thought when I made that video. Aftermarket pads (any pads except OEM) made more of a difference. The OEM pads don't absorb water very well and what ends up happening is the water that comes out above them gets flung off.
I had been hearing a lot bad things about its app on Reddit. A lot reliability issues. Is it true or just blown out of proportion?
From T9 and X1, Ecovacs app have been greatly improved!
@@mitchelltan2909 I love my Dreame W10. You will not be disappointed.
Mr. Roombato,
Have you ever had any issue with customer service of Ecovacs?
DId you ordered it from Ecovac's website or from amazon?
I have talked to them few times and it feels really weird customer service department as they talk in some Asian language in the back ground and there is no team of customer service representative. its just one man team. There is no supervisors or Managers who you can talk to.
Even on the website there is no option to return this product.
I am getting really bad vibes about this.
I've mostly had good luck with their customer service, but I do understand how the language aspect can be frustrating.
@@MrRoombato good to know
My LG Roboking had better navigation.
Because Ecovacs has shitty developers I guess. It gets the job done though. Just don't watch it. :) It's painful to watch. :)
Go with Roborock. Roombas are perfected 5 year old tech. Roborock is solid and reliable.
@@MrRoombato Agree. I have an i7 and a Roborock S4 and the Roborock navigates far better than the Roomba. And don't even get me started on the Bravajet M6. The navigation is a joke.
@@MrRoombato Thank you. I take your word for it. But which does CLEAN better?
CLEANS practically better for whatever reason (maybe the double roller idea). To me it feels that the Roombas are more ripe and well polished software for what it is. iRobot is a more established maker of those machines than others. But I am still looking into Roborock with the hope that they will improve it, even though that the mop idea makes it already hassle. As far as gadget and appreciation for the technology - oh yes! Roborock rocks!.. but practically, Roombas still in a more solid corner.

As long as it's not another "Stray video game" scam, sure. :) mrroombato@gmail.com.
@@MrRoombato No it's about product collaboration. Vacuum cleaner.
My cleaning sink is not draining please help!
Do you need to buy the mop holder?
I don't know what you mean by mop holder.
Sorry.. mopping plates.. i just place an order on omni x1.. do I need get a new mopping plates.. or is that something we can redeem from ecovacs
@@Jpjayden2011 Well odds are yours is going to have the new ones. When you get it, look at how it mops and see how much water it leaves behind. If you see large patches of dry floor with barely any swirl marks, then you have the old plates. In that case, contact Ecovacs customer service and let them know. They should send you new ones.
@@Jpjayden2011 just look inside the mopping plate shaft. If you see a plastic spacer, you have the “updated” mopping plates. I just put in the shaft hole a spacer by myself (about 1-2mm) and now it works somehow better.
