    I've watched every single video on this car and yours is my favourite.

    You nailed it well at the end bro. When the production of the E85/E86 Z4 came to an end, so did the greatness of the BMW era.

    Ive got the 3.0si Coupe and love it to death. Since I daily it, I felt that it was more practical (just in small ways, like the better low end torque and larger trunk space) than the M. It is a bit underrated, the N52 engine is also a gem. I put the Sport seats in, got an M-Style hood for those awesome creases and will never get rid of it.

      The n52 is a great engine! And still sounds great too. And also a LOT lighter than the S54 as it’s aluminium/magnesium instead of iron

    I have the same Interlagos Blue Z4M Coupe, minus the dash satnav screen (thank god).
    You nail most of the important bits, so well done.
    Yes the suspension is hard, and that's the main criticism levelled at the car. For daily city driving it woukd be a pain. But that's not what M Division built it for. Pressing on at open road speeds and even in poor quality tarmac of which we've got an over abundance here in New Zealand (!), the car is sensational! Raw, connected, accurate, and responsive. Everything a great sports car should be!
    And yes, the engine is the jewel in the crown.
    Incredibly quick throttle response by virtue of natural aspiration and those 6 individual throttle bodies. It can be challenging to drive smoothly, requiring great finesse with the throttle pedal, even with the Sport button off! I never turn it on. JayEmm criticised the car loudly for bunny hopping - it's what happens when you don't have that finesse 🐇😉.
    These cars are from another era, but look current in their styling, and are set to go stratospheric in value like the Z3M Coupe as people start to wake up to what they are.

    Great review from the heart! I have the same colour, same wheels but the roadster. The coupe is one of the best looking cars ever, until you take the roof of the roadster of course ;-) Either way both are amazing!!! It's my daily, although a bit juicy and aggressive compared to the 3.0litre I had before which was also an amazing car. For me it's a keeper, I will drive this as long as possible. I don't want to drive a battery, who'd carbon footprint is worse!

    Visually I've always preferred the roadster to the coupe but, either way, I still want this car! Mostly for its engine. BMW has made many great engines over the decades and this is arguably the greatest, and the most BMW-ish of them all. Yes the modern turbo motors put out more power but there's a sensation and a sound quality to these highly tunes NA motors that turbos simply cannot replicate. If you want to drive a car that feels like a machine, and not a computer, these older M models are still hard to beat.

    Owned one. Beautiful coupe. The overall driving experience is just OK, though the M upgrades help. This is really a weekend ride, not a daily driver or a car you own for boot space or practicality- and because of that, I would go for a convertible...

    Regarding the harshness of the suspension: you certainly didn't help it by putting 19" wheels on it. It might look a little better while sitting still, but that's the only advantage.

    Great video, I tend to agree about the BMW’s after this era. But then again, I felt the same after E30’s. I was planning on selling my 492RWHP supercharged M Coupe once I bought my 18’ M4. I couldn’t do it for that very reason. It’s an extremely important part of history. Will stay in the garage for the occasional weekend cruise.
    Just fyi, you can adjust the height of the steering wheel to gain visual access to speedo :P

    Good video. On the 3.0si version (with electric steering) the Sport Button also gives you a faster steering input plus the faster throttle response. Agree about the suspension being a little too hard, and am looking into replacing this for a more 'fast road' setup.

    I own a e85 z4m. The throttle response is completely hopeless. When i press the pedal, about 0.3 seconds response delay and then the acceleration is very sudden causing the wheel to skid when I am in the middle of corner.
    But as you said, driving at the very back of the car feel special and not a lot of other car can give you such experience

    • @robwiltshire1261
      @robwiltshire1261 Рік тому

    • @Audidude
      @Audidude Рік тому +4

      There's something seriously wrong with your car if you have a throttle response as you describe. The S54 engine is THE most responsive engine I've owned, and that includes E39 M5, Porsche 911 996 and 997, Aston Martin 6L V12, Honda B18CR, all naturally aspirated like the S54 but only the S54 and E39 M5 V8 have individual throttle bodies. See my comment in earlier posting.
