just come across your channel thought this was super cool idea and was thinking about a homemade skid steer just last week but so much more impressed to find your a woman building it not something you come across offten at all much respect to you for it
Wow wow wow. Keep tapping into the infinite universal energy of possibilities. Thank you for creating a video for me to see. I would love to make a skid steer. I am so inspired.
I know on a previous video you said a friend suggested how to hook up the joysticks and It looks uncomfortable from my end. Mostly all the machines I’ve driven are foot control and when I do drive a joystick machine its just more natural to be able to control the bucket and arm with my dominant hand (more control lot smoother) rather than fight it with 2 hands, I like to be able to position my bucket as I’m driving so I can be ready for the next scoop Most machines do offer both options I’d take a gamble and try both options moving some dirt around with a different machine. I know it’s too late in the game now to make changes and hydraulic hoses are expensive (at least here they are) Over all I love the craftsmanship the details and all the hard work you’ve put into this really excited and looking forward to the next video!
As a HEO (Heavy Equipment Operator) you will get a feel for it the more you drive it. A little bit of advice, when operating it, it's all about the feel, I find that using your fingers more than your hands, of course you have to grip it to move the skidsteer but when using the bucket, a gentle touch will make it so much easier for you down the road
It’s understandable why it’s been a while since you posted another video. When you take-on such a big project like this, it’s hard to keep working on it, when you have other contract jobs that you need to do to pay the bills and pay for the materials you need to do the contract jobs and pay for the materials you need to work on your own project. That’s the life of a small business owner. I used to be an auto mechanic and a welder/fabricator, so I’ve been there, where you’re at. Take your time and don’t rush things. That’s when problems develop. It’s coming together nicely.
The project is really coming together now. I love the chunky tyres. Whenever I've used hydraulic machines with joysticks, my driving was jerky until my brain caught up. It was rather like learning to ride a bicycle. Looking forward to the next instalment!
Never get disappointed when you are fabricating anything especially a skid loader! When I worked for Caterpillar they would send field follow machines out of the new models as test pieces, they wanted them ran in real world conditions by real operators. You would be amazed at the issues we would find and they had 100's of people designing and building these machines only for them to have some very simple flaws that get over looked. I think your doing an amazing job!! Never ever get discouraged, somtimes just walk away for a bit and then attack it agian! Great work!!!
Just a tip. When you build the safety lap bar. Make it so your forearm can support your body from rocking forward and backward. That will make it a lot easier to operate smoothly. I have seen rookies look like they were operating a bucking bronco, until they learned to steady them selfs with their forearms on the safety bar.
I've been chomping at the bit for another installment on this series . YOU ARE A KEEPER ! As I'm sure your husband and kids can surely attest to . :) I love seeing a woman that can use her head . I doubt I'll ever see another man or woman that will take the MASSIVE undertaking of building a skid steer . And THEN accomplishing such a task to the high level and standards as you have . :) You HAVE to be one heck of a proud lady Lucia .
"I love seeing a woman that can use her head ." That sounds very much like you consider women stupid, in general. Any woman that work full time, then handles most of the household stuff and takes care of several kids will be forced to use their head quite a bit. 🙂
@@_TheDudeAbides_ Sorry to inform you, but most women are mechanically lost . If you teach you little girl a few things in the garage, like small things about various types of repair you might spark an interest in mechanical things (the way it should be), but iin the world in the past 50 years, that generally doesn't happen . Sorry to step in your coco puffs . lol And then, a lot of mothers don't even teach them anything in the kitchen, so they might not even learn to cook . And then you have some real dilemmas . Thank you for doing these! My daughter is 5 and we watch all of your newly released videos before bed. It’s so exciting when we see you’ve released an update. We look forward to watching them together. Keep doing what you’re doing. You’ve been provided with amazing gifts and it’s a blast to see them in use.
@@luciasworkshop my daughter is ecstatic for your message! She wanted me to send you an open invitation for a visit 🤦♂️. I told her this is odd for adults. However, there isn’t much I wouldn’t do for her. Should you and your husband ever find yourselves in the United States, we would love to have you both over.
Really great work and i hope to see you lern more by doing these kind of new things. One thing to mention: for safety reasons you should think about adding load holding valves or at least line break protection valves. I am sure you did a lot of research so please dont be offended by this suggestion. Stay safe and keep up the great work.
Классный погрузчик на красивых колёсах! Ручки управления как на истребители! ЧПУ резка, сварка! Выхлопная система от Люции! Классное видео серия получилась! Мне понравилась! Круто Круто!!!
I tried to imagine what your husband thought when you told him you were going to build this. Now I know his joy in seeing it thus far, he has to be so proud of you. I know he helped on the heavy things, but for us watching, this is mostly all your doing. I am simply amazed that this machine is so beautiful.
Please be careful and don't have it running indoors for long! You won't really notice if there are too much fumes in the air until it's too late!! A fantastic project none the less really great job. 🤩
great job lucia don't forget when you put the cabin roof and roll bar on to put a swivel safety bar on in front of you for when the bar is down the skid steer moves and the hydraulics work and when you lift the bar to get in and out it stops all the hydraulics from working but so far you have done an amazing job keep on doing great work cheers from down under
That’s amazing! Great work! Everything is so neat and works perfectly. Welds are nice, hoses are run neatly valve’s mounted nicely. You should be very proud
You have no need to apologize , you're amazing !! Well done I don't think anyone on this planet wouldn't be impressed with all of what you have accomplished.
What an amazing accomplishment to finally get to see all your hard work opperating smoothly. Congratulations on getting to this point. Don't worry as all newly built projects have teething problems.
This is soooooo attractive!! Specifically the fact that you don’t exactly know what your doing but being willing to figure it out as it goes and just go for it!! Obv your attractive too, but it’s the bi lingual, can do attitude that I find myself extremely attracted to!!! 👌 can’t wait to see this thing all done in action!!!
Your fabrication skill set is talented and amazing on this project. Yes for every fabrication there are sometimes setbacks and disappointments which is a normal thing. Stepping away from it always helps on problem solving and looking at it again to see what has happened and to correct it. You made a huge progress to get all the controls to work as they should on a skid steer. Now comes all the little things like you said the cage for one. A remote starting switch and engine speed controller to install in the cab/cage Dont forget adding/subtracting the weights that will be needed to keep the skid steer balanced empty/fully loaded. I had that happen to me when I removed the bucket and too much weight was on the rear of the skid steer causing to tip backwards. Great job and cannot wait to see how the whole plan comes together and you put the skid steer to work moving some dirt around. Great job well done, and hopefully you have inspired other girls/women that there is nothing you can tackle while getting you hands dirty and the mind working.
Your a ROCKSTAR! I love the fact that your capable, humble and seem to have a wholesome approach to you videos (dig the way you time laps 👍). Try not to be so hard on yourself with the hiccups but from what I can tell, your learning to roll with the punches and figure it out... You GO girl!
Awesome Lucia, simply awesome! Great job. Please remember that you are building your own Skid-steer which is complex mechanically and hydraulically. Well done. So happy for you! Very inspiring and it makes me want to build one too!
I find this type of content is really cool, and I think you are doing a good job. You are build something new to you and stay with it until it's correct, can not ask more than that. I am happy for you to see it work. Good job!
How does a girl with no formal engineering education whatsoever know how to think and create such a machine? You are uniquely gifted Lucia and a great inspiration. I salute you.
Love to see you making progress and learning from simple mistakes that were easily corrected. Keep up the good work and enjoy your new toy... LoL One suggestion would be to put some form of ROPS (Roll over protective structure) and FOPS (Falling object protective structure) over the operator position for safety. Here in the US they are required by law. Believe me when I say this as I've had objects fall on our farms skid steer loader. It really scares the pejeebees out of a person... Can't wait to see the next video.
Awesome. I haven't seen your UA-cam videos in a long time. Very much enjoy your videos. Great job on this build. I have to work with hydraulics in my job. I understand your frustration. Sometimes, things just don't work right the first time. Keep up the great work.

From someone that built a fairly large buggie from scratch at the age of 18 a few years back, I am delighted that you are documenting this project. I am really looking forward to seeing the completed machine. I think a pink and black colour scheme and 'Lucia's Loader' on the side somewhere would go very well! I am happily open to correction on this thought from a hydraulic tech, A high-pressure relief valve or a bypass valve in the right place would stop the engine from stalling when the pressure is too much. Just be careful that the valve doesn't cause all the pressure to drop (i.e the boom dropping down if the valve were to s open and stay open)
