While Lucia is awfully fortunate to have access to her grandfather's shop of fabrication tools, she really does some impressive work for which she should be very proud!
The building/shop, and a couple of old tools, was the initial input, but 80-90% of what's present there now she has made/collected
I am sure that Grandpa is very proud and never imagined that his 100lb little granddaughter would step into the reigns, and then master the trades.
lol, no grandpa ever had tools like these, in such new condition.
I still cant wrap my mind around building an entire skid steer. You do very clean precise work Lucia. Great video!
Try a medium complexity Lego kit first, you learn to break things apart to in to smaller systems or units.
Im not a complete idiot. Im just stressing how impressed i am with her abilities.
With some hand tools, a welder, a drill, a mill and a lathe you can darn near build anything. Throw in a CNC plasma, ezpz.
@@stuartkorte1642 well hell i have a cnc plasma table. Id like to learn how to use a lathe and manual mill.
yeah so true, and she is VERY stable on her legs.... ;)
You are one very lucky girl to have a Grandfather that could teach you all these skills. You are every country boys dream girl. Keep making the videos they are great.
This series is amazing, I love to watch things being built from scratch.
UA-cam just recommended this video to me. I was a mechanic/repair welder for years and I need to say i am very impressed with your skill and attention to details. I will go back and watch your first videos on your build of your project. Thanks for sharing your videos.👍
Everytime I watch your videos I am simply blown away at your instinctual mechanical knowledge. You are especially gifted!
Thank you very much!
best series by far on youtube in my opinion
Damn women you got skills, I don’t know to many ladies who can drive loader much how to build one, outstanding job.
So great watching it all come together. I can't wait to see you driving it around and scooping stuff up!
Lucia, your skills have been expanding as you tackle bigger projects ! You have done amazing things and I love to watch you work ! ! !
I had already seen it before on the other channel, I could not resist 😅
Piston seals are very easy to replace, you can soak them a few minutes in oil heated to about 60ºC to soften them a little.
Rod seals can be tricky on those smaller diameters, there is a tool that bends them into a "pretzel" shape so that they fit through the hole.
I used to rebuild hydraulic cylinders. The cylinder leaking down is most likely an O-ring that has failed and fluid is seeping around it. The easiest thing to do would be to find a local place that sells gaskets and just take it in there and match it up. Make sure the O-ring does not stick too far off the rod as it will "slice" part of the O-ring off when the rod is inserted back into the barrel and cause the same issue. Loving the build so far👍.
There are bolts called "plow bolts" . They have a circular conical head that wedges in a conical hole and a hardened nut is used on the other end. Perhaps that is something that may save you time on future projects. The shots of you welding with the exhaust right above you show how strong the exhaust is, very interesting. Thank you for sharing this project.
Yeah I thought she was going to use plow bolts when she chamfered the bolt holes. Then she ended up using studs.
Great troubleshooting, that's when the real fun starts.
Lucia, You are every man's dream! Especially mechanics! I wish other girls were so hard working. And for work! Bravo!❤️
absolutely amazing. It's such an incredible channel and build series. Your skills and ability to build create and problem solve are impeccable. It's like watching Colin Furze's long-lost Russian cousin
Wow, thank you very much!
colin would be proud!
except she's making something useful!!! hahahaha
I don't know how I initially got your videos, but I am so glad I did. Your enthusiasm at accomplished tasks makes this old man smile. I know if my wife would sit still long enough to watch, she would say "You Go Girl! 👍" Congratulations on your success so far and I look forward to the next episode. 👍
As a heavy equipment mechanic this is just amazing, i hope you plan to build a cab and boom arm stabilizer to keep your boom from moving sideways while you’re loaded with the boom up. it’s very important to consider that, as to not roll the machine over on its side.
Came here from another fabricator channel reference... watched which led me to sub up. You are SO gentle when testing - makes me smile, as I imagine how it will be used 🙂
You had me at "builds skid steer", but then I saw how smart, capable, AND adorable she is. I subscribed.
I have to watch this entirely. That cat looks like a beast. I like everything inc. the design of those chubby tires. I never seen those on BobCats before but sizing and all are well suited. Don't forget to take us for a test dig. Holy smokes, great job.
Awesome job! Long live Lucia and her workshop!
Absolutely phenomenal! I feel good if I can just keep my BobCat running!
One of the best DYI channels on youtube and getting better with every episode.
Nice work! Your skid steer is turning out amazing. You have a beautiful mind ❤
What a talented young engineer.
I love seeing quality content first thing on a Sunday morning!
Such a hydraulics...😮 You are great engineer ! 👏
Everything going on in the workshop, very impressive. Great videos.
you're pretty amazing! I binged watched the whole series. I love how you show your victories and failures along the way. Looking forward to the next installment! You're an inspiration to many, I wish more people had your work ethic.
Have no idea of her journey into fabricating but I love it. Kudos to her and her mentors whoever they may be.
Love this build! So many problems have arisen and you just deal with them one at a time. A true testament to your resolve and determination!
That shop is a fabricators dream. With your skills the building of a skid steer looks easy.
Thank you. It only looks so easy, but it's not. Yet possible ;)
Well done. I love your happy dance. Great achievement.
Loader is looking great Lucia! Don't sweat the leaky cylinder, it's just the way things are now. I find brand new defective components too often now, it's like no one pays attention to detail anymore.
Bravo! What fantastic work, so clearly explained in a shop as clean & tidy as an operating theatre & with all things done while wearing appropriate safety equipment & with best safety practices. As an example to inspire anyone to make the best of their talents & to do so safely it is exemplary. Thank you so much for sharing & bringing my own poor safety & poor tidying practices in to my focus of what I must improve about my own work.
Thank you very much. I'm glad my video was helpful ;)
Thanks for sharing. I'm really enjoying this build.
One step forward, two steps back. At least you found the problem, without having to scrap and redo the whole hydraulic system. I thought it might have been in the proportioning valve, causing the cylinders to leak down. It’s probably bad o-rings in the cylinder, or a crack in the o-ring sleeve.
damn lucia.. its the most attentive thing i woman can have.. being that handy..
i also have a milling machine and a lathe and all. i also make allot of stuff..
but never seen a woman interested in trying stuff out. or ask me what those machines i own can do..
bet your grandpa is VERY proud.
👏😉
Nice work! Bummer on the cylinder leak though!
Great video! Becki & the kids are watching this one! They wanted an update 👊
Hey hey! Glad to see you comment my friend. Thank you for the support! Please say HI to Becki and kids ;)
That's kool exciting u making ur own skid loader bucket & bracket's Lucia.
Hi Lucia I have built many projects such as yours but without a cnc plasma cutter I'm so jealous. You are doing a wonderful job and your videos are excellent. Thanks for showing us your work.
Wow when i was working as a heavy plant fitter before i retired i would have loved having you as my apprentice 😍😍 great job girl 😁😁👍👍
Hello again Lucia I’m happy to see more progress on your skid …very challenging for you but what an impressive achievement you have accomplished. Thank you for all the videos you have posted and hopefully looking forward to many more ❤️❤️❤️
You are so talented! Without that plasma cutter, you might still be cutting out all those parts by hand, What a time saver.
Thank you very much! Yes, CNC plasma cutter is one of the best things in my shop ;)
I think she is not even aware how crazy impossible it is to build a thingy like that for the first time , and building it with such profession! She could have propperly went to engeneering doing Machinery Diploma! Very talented. I love how she takes on stuff, besides it is scary. maybe a shopdog would help to decompress stressy situations as they always demand potty time or playtime when they sense you need a break! We always think they demand time from us, when in fact, they help us relax and get a good work/play balance in life!
It is looking great. When you said it was drifting the first thing I suspected was the hydraulic cylinder, glad you found it.
Like many others, I admire your guts to tackle a large project like this and it looks great. It all depends on the intended use, but 3 mm sheet on that bucket thickness may prove to be too weak, regardless of your structural reinforcements. If you're just scooping dirt or using it like a large wheel barrow, it might be fine but if you're using it like other skid steers I've seen, it has a high chance of wearing out quickly or buckling. This is obviously just my opinion but 6 mm would be more of a thickness I'd be comfortable with while anticipating abuse.
It's a breath of fresh air seeing a female craftsman working in actual ppe and not some skimpy outfit. BUT PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DOOOONT WEAR A OVERALL JACKET WHILE WORKING ON A LATHE IS SO DANGEROUS!!!!
Next series, she will randomly decide to build a mini excavator and nail it! Awesome work!
Incredibly talented!!!
Project is looking great!
I love the self sharpening edge / teeth design. Wearing away to reveal a new set of teeth is genius.
Look forward to further updates Lucia 👍
Hey Lucia. I subscribed your channel a few hours ago and was so flashed, that i watched all of your videos one after the other. It's absolutely fascinating to see you fabricating. Your welding knowledge is great and you seem to know what you do. Your alu-welding on the boat was stunning (I started to learn TIG 3 years ago since corona, but I'm way far from your skills - time and practice will help) and this loader-project is outstanding.
There are no problems - just solutions that need to be found!
Waiting for new videos I send you greetings from germany.
So amazing job... looks like the Wonder Woman... The inresting is you show us good things at your project and the bad things and how you fix every single things... Good Job my dear... good job...Thanks for your all videos...
Yet again another great video on your build. Love the effort you put in to solving your problems and how you dont let it beat you. Keep up the great work Lucia
I've really enjoyed watching this series. I would guess that the cylinder repair will be fairly easy. Normally just a couple o rings and a couple teflon rings if I remember right. The teflon ones are more rigid, but you can work them by hand and stretch them to get them in the groove. The will normally shrink back down if you put a hose clamp around them and slowly tighten it taking care not to tear or pinch the ring.
Nicely done…. Love your work… and solutions to problems
Usually skid steer tires are blocky and strong to handle the continuous skid. Those tires are not typical. Well maybe they work at snow.
You should ignore all the comments telling you the bucket is too small or not heavy enough. Your skid steer is not heavy enough and your hydraulics are not strong enough to be able to put enough of a load in that bucket to damage it. You did fine.
Lucia, you are an amazing lady! You are a kind of super woman in my heart! ❤❤❤❤❤❤ What a great build and spectacular project!!
Hello Lucia good job you are doing a very big project well done
Always a pleasure to watch your progress on this project.
Congrats Lucia, on building ur Skid Steer and ur Bucket and Bob Tech. looks like u have all of the tools and machines u needed to
build the Bucket except for a Metal Bending Machine. Maybe down the road.. some type of roll bar is needed..
Mad respect.😊
@@AB-pb8oo отличное видео! Мне нравится!
Bravo girl bravo! I had to watch this as soon as it posted I was waiting and waiting for the next episode! You do such a fabulous job. And people say women can't do as much as men bull crap!!!!!❤
the leak should be a fairly easy fix once you get the cylinder off the machine again, the progress looks great!
I really like the bucket you built, but I believe it could be beefed up in sections to ensure it lasts
Great work
Great project!!!
Obviously you are still in the middle of the project. However, most skid steers have a lot of added weight in the rear end. My Bobcat has about a 1 inch or 1 1/2 inch thick rear door behind the engine, both as an engine cover, as well as a counterweight.
Anyway, it will help a lot once you start using the bucket.
Of course it wouldn't hurt to try it out and see how tippy the skid steer is, and how the traction feels.
replacing seals in a hydraulic cylinder is a piece of cace-it can however also be the overpreasure-valve(if there is one)in the cylinder that is leaking thru
Great build Lucia! Thanks for uploading it ! Such a nice shop you have!
Great work. I love watching this come to life.
Congrats, what a wonderful day 🎉🎉🎉, you have taken bare metal and made a MACHINE!!!! To operate and control something that ONLY YOU, have made is terrific Enjoy your day Lucia, 🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊
5:43 recommend making a sleeve for the bolt the height of where you want that spring tension, or possibly some green or purple lock tite to keep the bolt adjustment where you want it.
Another great vidio, makes my day. U are doing a great job one the build. Thats coming from sombody that builds every thing. Regards from Manitoba.
Brilliant work! I do believe the bucket may not be reinforced as well as it should be. The impact of a bucket against rocks or hard pan earth will take its toll on the sides and top. I believe I would look at some significant edge reinforcement. This is a great project to watch. Both the engineering and production is enchanting...
The skid steer isn't heavy enough to worry about bending that bucket. She did fine.
Winter is coming. She will move a lot of snow with it.
Thanks for sharing this project and for the inspiration. This is so awesome!
Awesome Lucia! Excellent build❤...
I haven't watched this series enough but I'm glad I subscribed. You are awesome 👌
Amazing work, Lucia. Hopefully the cylinder leak is just a bad gasket or something simple. Even leaking, though, I'm sure that steer would move more dirt than either of us could with a shovel. 😅👍
Really remarkable work. My only concern is that the bucket looks likely to bend under a heavy load. I also find that bolt heads that protrude in to the bucket tend to have things get hung up on them. Perhaps consider making a plate with holes for the bolt heads to recess in to and add thickness at the cutting edge. I'm really loving this build and can't wait to see the finished product.
She won't be able to pick up a heavy enough load to warp the bucket.
I'm curious how you concluded that.@@TehButterflyEffect
All cutting edges have bolts protruding into the buckets
Hi Lucia
Great job
Love the work shop and all the gear.
I’m a practical person myself and always loved working with steel.
Go Girl 👍👍👍
Can’t wait to see the finished machine
Kind Regards
Greg.
NSW. AUSTRALIA 👋
Thank you very much Greg!
Smart , talented, beautiful
Looking great ! It's nice to see we're not the only ones that use those shitty plastic chairs for all kinds of projects. 🤣
Siempre, tu trabajo es genial y reconfortante verlo...!!! Saludos desde México 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Amazing ... Can't wait to see it when it's finished ... More Power to you 💪
This is an ambitious project. You have my respect for getting this far and I am sure you'll finish it no problem. And not only that you are making it look easy. You are superior to me and most other people for that matter.
As a farm boy who learned to operate a skid-steer when I was like 5 years old, I have thoughts. One... this is such a cool project. Two... I know a poor abandoned skid-steer sitting in a barn for nearly 40 years because its 28 horsepower Kohler twin cylinder was ruined by an overtightened, too-long screw into its cylinder block. There must be an easier way... haha, it's funny because I follow other channels where they try to restore junk to a working state... and Lucia's probably right to build her own from raw materials than go that way. But my real question is, once it is done, what do you plan to do with it?
id also love to hear that question answered. this looks like a nice project. but ive ran several skid steers over the years and this looks like a lawn mower weight unit and wont be very practical. bout like plowing or pushing dirt with a big lawn tractor.
felicidades que prolijidad que dificil y lo has logrado te felicito... saludos desde Argentina
That thing is so Badass and it's also so little and cute =D I'm loving this series ! 💪💪💪💪💪
When working with hydraulic oil you can put on old vacuum on the inlet of the tank (not in the oil). The "vacuum" that is created can reduce the amount of oil that leaks out when working with the hoses etc.
I love this girl and did you see her welds ❤
You do very nice work and do most of safety things, the running shoes in the beginning I see you changed.
Trouble shooting problems is one of the most difficult to do! Lucia, you must be so proud of yourself! In all, you've inspired me to be more hands on on my own skid steer. Really excited to see where this goes! Can hardly wait for the paint. What will be the lift capacity when complete and what is weight rating of those tires? Thanks in advance!
This is so cool! What an awesome project and the way she does it is so casual like "Yeah its just my home made skid steer... no biggie" hahaha great stuff.
This summer I was going to build one too... but I had so many other things to do, I just bought a BobCat. A nice machine.
Great work Lucia. 👍
What cracks me up is a lot of women would say “men don’t find women like this attractive because she can do what they can and that threatens them” but in reality 1) this women can do more than I can and 2) most men find it incredibly attractive.
Brilliant engineer!
Hi Lucia, you're doing a great job, very talented work👌
You need a hold valve in the hydraulics to stop it loosing pressure & lowering bucket/ lift ext, hope this is helpful.
Look forward to seeing it finished👍🏼
