I think skipping al fights as Bilbo is actually more faithful to the book, so this is pretty much canon.
glad to know I didn't just imagine this game as a child
The Lord of the Rings would have been a much different story if Frodo had just clipped out of bounds in the Shire, wrong warped to Mount Doom and thrown the ring in within 5 minutes.
You're forgetting the part where Frodo inherits his uncle's Magical Warping Cape™ and clipwaps back to Aragorn to skip meeting Gollum and unload the room so he can grab Gimli's axe about 5 minutes early.
@@Chrixiam1998 Thank you, Stone Giants! You made my clip for me!
Glad to see so many people enjoy(ed) this run! Here's a much shorter and more optimized run, which is also my current PB/WR: ua-cam.com/video/hJAzSchmxfA/v-deo.html
Chrixiam98 You did great man! thanks for running this at GDQ
Ha, still hard to believe that this actually happened.
One of the legends.
Are you still going for the record? Your times are great.
This game is, like, the Dark Souls of my childhood. It's very satisfying to see it torn apart.
Excellent commentary. I saw this game a few times at my local gamestop growing up but never picked it up. The run was still incredibly enjoyable thanks to the runner and commentary.
Those knocks on the Hobbit movies are well deserved.
And it's still more accurate that the latest movie.
Oh, nice, so this game is real and it wasn't a fever dream that I had once as a kid.
I know it's suposed to be like this, but the couch did a GREAT job explaining the entire run and how he was doing every action.
"Pour one out for Corwin" is my favorite moment from this speed run. Off the cuff jokes are the best jokes.
So sad I couldn't watch live. Well done Chrix.
I need to play this again, one of my absolute favorites
Man I used to play this ALL THE TIME at my grandma’s place as a kid. This was right when the lord of the rings movies were coming out. It was awesome.
Same XD
Unexpected, but this is my favorite run and couch I've ever seen I think. Very knowledgeable, well-spoken, and funny. Great job to the runner and everyone involved.
I had the PC version of this as a kid, it was fucking great.
I give this game 5 bags of popcorn and 2 sodas.
I have great memories of playing this game with my family (or more accurately, watching my dad play this game with my family) when I was young. It’s really great to see it again.
This game is acually very faithful to the Silmarillion
ragepoweredgamer I think it’s a joke ;)
yeah as an homage to the book, the makers of this game never really finished making it
Loved this game. still a great main theme and hobbingen ost
This game is my childhood. It's been destroyed
I thought nobody knew about this game. Good wad I am glad to be proven wrong :D Fantastic, amazing, and well-commented!
Corwin says: "Bilbo! I've come to bargain!"
Great explanations of the run tech from the couch.
why do they play the gamecube one?
there are categories for all kinds of versions. i believe the gamecube version is the most run category, mostly because of using a controller is nice
I never played this game growing up but seeing it now, it looks kind of like an OOT/MM clone.
It does have similar gameplay, except you can jump and there are less weapons.
If you played it for about 10 minutes you'd see how inaccurate this statement is
This game fucking ruled.
I have this game for pc installable and it runs on win 10. Its great, the only down side is that the controlls are a bit bad.
The console versions are better, the PC version isn't as polished and is a fair bit buggier
The PC version is a much different run, but still fairly fun to run.
When I was a kid I thought the level after smaugh was just like a peaceful extra reward stage for beating the game cas I thought he was the last boss x.x I never beat the level cas the fucking spiders in it were killing me over and over cas I had no potions left so I just gave up. Never knew the last level existed.
I remember this game!!
How long would the estimate be if it was the text adventure game for ZX Spectrum? :D
Believe it or not, the ZX Spectrum Gane can be beat in less than a minute. There are certain random phrases you can type in that trick the game into skipping farther than it should.
The ZX spectrum game has ACE, it can be beat in seconds
How exactly he gets the character stuck into wall, so that warp-back mechanism is triggered?
Bad glitch... you mean a bug?
remind me of the good old days
Real hidden gem of a run here. The game tho? Eeeeehh, not so much.
I like The Hobbit movies.
You gotta specify which movie dude, the modern movie series? Or The Hobbit the animated movie from 1977?
The 1977 movie is one of my favorite movies.
Long Jump Glitch is completely avoided by playing on PAL versions of the game. PAL is the best version to run on.
PAL has slower movement. Long-jumps cover slightly shorter distance, etc.
It's nice to see Awful Games Done Quick at SGDQ.
Marcell D'avis yeah it is!
