If it was all water with no debris it would have blown onto the fire. I recon pilot has no way of knowing other than weight that there is debris in the water.
Why is it I have 1 man in a 40,000L 6X6 articulated water cart on most large construction sites for dust suppression and compaction and when its a fire emergency its all man power hands and hoses. Is it because industry just dose it bigger, better, faster, cheaper and fire departments stem from government Bureaucracy?
🤢BLACK WATER. When you see water being dropped and it is not clear but BLACK like that, it means it was taken from most likely a golf coarse pond or something similar. That is stinky, smelly duck poop water that was sucked up from the bottom of the pond.

Holy crap.....what a direct hit on the crew and the engine... and they kept on advancing the hose lines. That was crazzzzzzy!
Bro took it like a champ and kept at it. What a boss!
Did you see the smile on his face after he took the hit!! LOL
Oh, wow, he got hit with some nasty stuff, there!
Nice seeing your videos, again, Leo!
Absolutely incredible footage. Those drops and both the firehawks refilling was superb.
Thank you very much!
Some of that quality CA water I see
Water from the Colorado ain’t that clean no more
Wow incredible Footage! Aww the little mouse at 0:59 must’ve been so spooked.

Looked more like mud.

This is why it pays off to play video games

Great JOB besafe....🚒

That's awesome to stay in the fight covered in pond mud!!😮
That was the absolute fail on the water drop.Someone needs to tell him he's supposed to put the fire out.Not the fire fighters and the rig
But how this fire came here
Pretty sure he knows that internet warrior. Judging from the video they're fighting a hell of a wind. From what I've heard they are badass Heli pilots

I was on a school trip in sycamore and we had to leave early because of this fire
What's there I'm sycamore, beach or hiking
Why is the “hit” not downwind?
Oh no, the helicopter did the ground crew dirty.
All jokes aside, amazed their firefighting efforts in those wind conditions.
I would have been PISSED
"Old black water, keep on rollin'..."
What a pxxx poor water drop
Got mud?
Epic drop!!
Why was the water black
When the helicopter's snorkel sucks the water from the bottom of a shallow pond it picks up whatever muck settles to the bottom of that pond.
Probably best not to think of what might be in that. Suffice it to say, the firefighter definitely needed a "decon" afterwards.
that wind is huge problem. Looked like choppers were trying to play it.
Yo why's the water black? Did they pick it up from a sewage treatment plant?
Somebody got some Ice cream to buy, and a free stop at the laundromat!
Probably protecting the engine and it's crew
Is Pepperdine evacuated?
I doubt it. That campus was built as a 'shelter in place'.
Is that Pepperdine?
Yes
brutal ............
Imagine having one job to do......
Figured Pepperdine would use avian to put out the fire
I'm afraid to ask where they filled up lol
