This song was the best send off a band could have done. Its just sad that it never picked up. Any normal person that listens to this song with rock and roll in their heart will fall in love immediately.
Totally agree one brilliant song from one of the truly best punk bands of all time. I go running a lot I always make sure that this song is always on my playlist.👍
Words cannot tell what this song means to me and how deeply I feel every word, beat and tune of it. Never found a better punk song, and I am sure I never will. RIP Nidge!
I'm right there with you brother!! It's the anthem of that time in my life, the way I felt and the fact that it's gone somehow all coalesce into that one magical feeling, nostalgia!! True; Words cannot describe. 💪👊🍻
As someone who grew up on old 1977 English punk rock, Oi! and UK 80's hardcore as well as Goth rock, new wave and post-punk, couldn't have found a more perfect song to fall in love with. This brings the best of everything all into one kick ass song. This is something extraordinary. Totally underrated band.

I saw Blitz in Houston right before I enlisted. News about Nidge's death hit me while I was freezing to death in Virginia, I listened to this one nonstop as UA-cam had an earlier, crappier version of this video. My Marines laughed at me because it wasn't Drowning Pool or whatever the fuck. Thanks boys, you did this guy a kindness
@@50milliondownthedraintonym16 He was, and it was a low key gig. Couldn't have been more than a hundred punks and skins. It was our show, no one can take that away from us.

When I hear.... the sound of concrete and steel I sense a rythm, that science can't feel I feel the beat.... of our hearts as one I hold your colour, when my vision is gone This power is something but the force is blind Transmitted through a network, of your own kind As minutes tick away.... and days become years I know this old feeling, it's a substance in my tears And the kids on the street And the kids everywhere And all I gotta say is the kids don't care When i hear................... When you've got me running and you stop my machine You try to tell me something, that has never been When you stop me running, with my own pack You know you've got me swearing that I'll get my own back
It's almost unbelievable that this is the same band that did Someone's Gonna Die Tonight. Both songs are great but this is levels above it. It's a truly beautiful song, both the lyrics and the music. I wonder if it sounded as sadly nostalgic then as it does now. A lot of street punk/oi was like that, interestingly. Where Have All the Bootboys Gone...No Room for You...etc. But what's amazing about this song is the sweetness of the music and its postpunk vibe while still having that oi spirit.
I’m 27, since I was a teenager haven’t hear other kind of music with such energy. I mean, I really like other music genres, now I don’t have prereferences just for a particular one, I can listen punk, hardcore, rap, dreampop, norteño, but when I hear this song something in my mind wants to do somehitng (don't know what, but something). In other comments, someone sayed the lyrics are kind of "stupid", I believe the lyrics are smart AF. Saludos desde México.

Remember seeing these guys live…. Those songs have stayed with me since then… don’t think a day goes by that I don’t listen to Blitz and a few of the others like Sham and Rejects …. Great days… great memories…. The line that really stays with me as I get older is….. “As minutes tick away.... and days become years I know this old feeling, it's a substance in my tears”…. Oi! Oi!
Because the low IQ conformist contingent doesn’t like it when a band breaks out of the three chord ghetto. I guess bands are supposed to keep it simple ‘n stupid forever in order to maintain “cred”, or some such nonsense. I’m not sure. My knuckles don’t drag the ground.
Well this is unique. Start off like old Cure then into rough and tough Oi chorus. Distortion down on guitar as well. Very interesting Does this song come from a full album or ep?
Macke has been quite active recently. He was in a melodic punk band called Epic Problem for a while. He also played on an album by a short lived band London Oi band called City Miles. The album Social Upheaval is one of the best UK Oi albums for years but sadly the singer died just before it was released. Mackie also released a really good 7" called Full Circle under the Rose of Victory name again last year with guest vocalists, in a more post punk vein. He's now in a band called Rivalry who I think are more of a melodic punk thing.
I tried to do the lights one night for Blitz when they played the YMCA at Chelmsford, what an arrogant bastard the singer was. Wanted to be treated as a super star at the YMCA? I gave up and left the lights on a setting that responded to the noise they were making. Not an enjoyable gig at all, because of his attitude. Most bands that played there were great, the would turn up and enjoy playing the gig. Friday nights at the Y were great normally.
oh how choices and attitude can make a big difference in our lives. the singer may have been a dick but i wonder how many people's night was slightly disrupted because of your sabotage.
@@something_in_the_radiator1665 The whole operation at the YMCA was run by a group of us voluntarily. I was not going to be treated like shit. And I don't think the small audience, of mainly people I knew, were disappointed by me. They were by the band because when the singer told them to dance, they were to the bar.
