I was luckily enough to have a wonderful grandpa who was happy to teach his granddaughter many things. One was putting grooves up dowels allows the glue to travel the whole length, making a better fix. He also taught mr French polishing but we never got round to his other hobby which was book binding. Unfortunately we lived in different countries and I didn’t get to see him as often as I now wish I had. Miss that man.
I grew up in the same state as my Grandfather, and i still feel like i didnt get enough time with him. He taught me many things, from how to hunt and fish, to how to control my temper (never finished those lessons, i still have my moments). No doubt if not for him, i wouldnt be the person i am today.
I have always regretted not realizing the wealth of information my grandfather had until very late. I still had him for a number of years after that but to think what I could have learned from him had I been able to see it much earlier. He wasn’t a nice man but he wasn’t a mean one either (taciturn is the term I typically use). He definitely was a great man who was capable of absolutely anything he set his mind to.

Seriously, do you think he actually uses that as a production shop? That saw on the wall is completely impractical for a serious project. None of the wood surfaces have seen any wear. I saw many ideas for making dowels. This one, I think, is ingenious, reusing old jigsaw blades, which are of course made of good steel. So I decided that this is the one I would make. And indeed it works perfectly.
For a westerner like me Japan is synonymous with perfection and a job well done. Following your channel is very inspiring, although I will never reach such a level at least it compensates me a lot to imitate your techniques, they are really amazing and in the case of this reuse of jigsaw blades simply spectacular. Thank you very much and receive a warm greeting from Spain.
@@jmadera_6 In the description of the video he specifically says it's a great use for old blades. That's because blades don't dull everywhere, only in spots so it's a great way to use them up till they are done. Waste not, want not.

Worn? Hell, those blades still have paint on them... and teeth! Where I come from, if they aren't brightly polished metal and smooth on both edges they aren't worn. :D
In regards to worn sawblades i saw my dad chop an entire 86 cutlass supreme into carryable peices with sawzall blades that he re cut teeth into with a file and also drill bits can be resharpened until their gone lol
The position of the blade is very important when trying this jig.
If doesn't work, try shifting the blade position slightly.
Would it be easier to be precise if you put in the blades first, then positioned the holes tangent?
can you post a link or video about your speed squeare ..
look a verry handy thing
thank you 😉
